Don't kill the messenger -smoking compliant

Recommended Posts

I am a smoker, but I don't do the clubs. I cannot dance.:o

(

I can't dance either, but get a little vodka in me and I don't let that stop me. :p

OP, even without cigarette smoke, in the dance club (at least those I've experienced) they use stage smoke, so if that's a problem for me you might not be able to deal with it anyway.

I don't really do dance clubs, and haven't paid attention to if there is more than one on every ship. But according to the fun times smoking is only permitted inside in the Casino (at select machines/tables, and a section of the bar) and at 1 or 2 clubs on each ship.

Just off the Legend and Medusa's Lair was the only dance club. People were smoking at the bar.

This will be our 1st Carnival Cruise and we picked them based on their smoking policies. We have a balcony and can't wait to sit on it and have a few drinks and smoke. But we are also considerate smokers if there is such a thing. I walk away to smoke when I am near none smokers, we won't chain smoke on the balcony, and so forth. But with that being said I would have no problem with the dance clubs being smoke free and even the casino for a few hours or a day or two. I don't like to constantly smell smoke or others smoking around me, weird I know.

I'm with you guys!! Agree.

I am a smoker and I really don't like the smell of smoke but if they changed Carnival to Non-smoking they would definitely lose customers. I know people who cruise carnival just for the smoking policy. I know smoking is unhealthy and of course it should be a priority to quit and we do smoke where we are allowed. We were on the dream last year and its kinda like hunting to find a place you were allowed to smoke. I could wait if I can't find one but hubby not so much. I don't frequent the dance clubs so can't comment on that. That may be the ONLY inside bar except the one near the casino that you are allowed to smoke in. If a ship only has one dance club how could they make it 50/50?

I hope the issue doesnt make you not enjoy your cruise.

I agree, I wish Carnival would have just one boat at least non smoking like the Paradise once was. I would only sail that one when possible, but people must not have given her more business or it would still be the case.

We're non-smokers; our third cruise is coming up. We always book an inside - cheaper for the five of us - but we just got an upgrade to a balcony. I was wondering what it's like - do a lot of people just hang out on their balconies all day smoking? Oh, did I mention we're pretty far aft? Ugh. I hope all our neighbors who are smokers are like you, 618mom - considerate non-chain-smokers.

I smoke, and was just on the Miracle in March, and the way they have the casino set up, I understand the complaints about smoke. There would be a few rows non-smoking rows, then a row of smoking, then non. Really stupid, as the smoke went right into the next section, which was non-smoking. They need to move the machines for smokers in one area, and non-smoking in another. Both Holland and Princess have their casinos set up like that. It would certainly help.

For us no. We will have a smoke in the morning when we wake up, that is our cup of coffee. And then before we go to bed. Maybe a few here or there but we are not in our room very often. I am a people watcher so I would rather go smoke in a smoking section on one of the decks.

On Carnival sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't.

We're batting around .500. In baseball that's a great number, not so great for a smoke free balcony experience.

I actually used my cruise to help me quit smoking. I smoke my last cigarette before leaving the house. That as the last in my pack. I figured from guessing that there would be no smoking anywhere except maybe on an area in the top decks.

I did not like having to walk through the casino that was clouded in smoke to get to other areas. I would actually avoid it and go up one floor walk across and come back down and back track to avoid it. It bothered me the amount of smoke in there.

I didn't go to any of the clubs. I don't dance.

But good news out of the trip was I am now 5 weeks without a smoke and feel pretty good. Smoked for 12 years, and with the new baby on the way and hitting 30 I felt it was a great time to quit.

On sunshine, the night club is no smoking! So, the only inside place you are allowed to smoke is the casino. If you can avoid the casino, you can have a realstively smoke free environment and still go to the club and piano bar.

So it varies from ship to ship???

In that case, what's the situation on the Imagination please?

Several years ago when I had my first Carnival cruise, I was on Riviera deck. There were strong smoke smells in the hallway. And we could smell it in our cabin. There was no balcony on Riviera deck. But when I talked to customer service, I was told smoking was allowed even in inside cabins. Not sure if Carnival still allows that.

Okay. I'm ready for the onslaught. Dear God Carnival , I just read smoking is allowed in all dance clubs, God help me. So I can't go there , all the boards have commented about the interesting boat layout so I have to go thru smoke filled areas to easley navigate , last year on the Glory I had a great time but missed so much .... How difficult would it really be to go and smoke out the side of the boat where is is allowed and have at least 1 dance club non smoking... I have already resigned myself to no balcony but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the boat, and no don't refer me to a more restrictive cruise line, I want affordable just like everyone else..can't it be 50/50 no smoking in major transit spaces.....I have many friends who do smoke, they have no problem going to a different area, not one of them would have a problem with restrictions okay flame away I am ready

OK - You want 50% - 50% no smoking in transit places? Try this... The ships are already 98% smoke free! Sheesh! But that is not enough? Smoking cigarettes is a pleasure for some and it is a legal activity. I am glad that Carnival is letting grown ups make their own decisions, somewhat. Most every smoker I've run into is thoughtful and non-intrusive. Give the smokers some room, as non-smokers have all but banished them.

That must have been quite a few years ago because I can't ever remember Carnival allowing smoking inside of the cabin and I started sailing with them in Dec 2000.

Just off the Inspiration and hate that Carnival allows smoking at part of the bar outside the casino. The smoke goes down the stairwell and lingers around the cabins in that area. People were smoking at non-smoking machines and at the non-smoking side of the Lido deck while Carnival staff did nothing.

I have been on a few Princess cruises and like their no smoking policy. No smoking on the balconies and on elegant nights and a few other nights there was no smoking in the Casino.

I was at the end machine in the non-smoking area of the casino that was near the bar. There were a couple of people leaning against the wall across from the bar and smoking up a storm. Obviously, their smoke came right at those of us at the slots.

Designated smoking areas are listed in the Fun Times. However, not all smokers smoke only in the designated areas. My problem is not so much with smokers, but that Carnival does not enforce their own policies. I just sailed the Dream out of NOLA, and there were more smokers than usual, and many were smoking in non smoking areas. C'mon Carnival enforce your policies!

In August 2009, you were allowed to smoke inside the cabins. That was the last year or possibly 2010 last year, if I'm not mistaken. I remember checking prices for the following year and coming in here and the confusion over the date of it. RCC had already put a stop to it in 2009. When I sailed with them you were still allowed to.

Since a lot of the other cruise lines have tightened their smoking policy a lot of smokers have migrated to Carnival . The last time we sailed Carnival it was brutal near the casino . I believe smokers have rights so I just changed lines until Carnival tightens the smoking policy .

Did you find an officer and request (demand) they enforce their own rules? If not, why not? If so, and the office did nothing, did you report it up the chain of command?

Maybe I didn't notice because I was a non-smoker at the time. I just never remember being allowed to smoke inside a cabin and wouldn't have done it even if allowed. If (when I smoked) I didn't smoke inside of my own house I definitely wouldn't smoke in someone else's.
