Tons of cruises with $1000 OBC out of Sydney. No matter what cabin you book with Carnival.

You could do some serious onboard drinking with that $1000 obc.  They must be having trouble filling their ships.

Maybe if they made these offers to more people, they wouldn't have that trouble. My Offers today are pitiful.....

We're looking for a PNG cruise from Brisbane in Winter 2024 and I see that P&O has a 10 nighter in June of that year on Pacific Encounter.  Current price is $1799pp each with 2 adults in a balcony room for "Value" package and $200 OBC.  I see P&O have sales all the time... do they often discount these PNG cruises or a they very popular and full price is the norm?  Does P&O happily honour price drops?  TIA for any info.

Slightly O/T; apologies.

When I have a look the P&O site tells me that balconies for the June cruise are sold out.

P&O are perennial discounters. I would wait for the next Flash Sale, which should be along any time now. Your cruise will definitely be cheaper then. I've been on a couple of P&O PNG cruises and they don't seem to me to be any more popular than their other cruises.

You need to be careful with P&O pricing. For instance you may get $100 OBC per person with a Value Fare, but the Go Fare could be $270 per person cheaper than that.

I don't know about price drops. With P&O I always buy late from Flash Sales and never saw a price drop from that.

Price drops, not really. In most cases they become a cancel/lose deposit/rebook which can work in your favour. In most cases though, their genuine discounting comes into play for undersold cruises after final payment date, when no longer practical to cancel/rebook.

Often the flash sales can just be reduced deposit and OBC, and not much of a drop in the usual fare.

We are going on the 10-night Pacific Encounter cruise to PNG on 25th April - $600 pp in an oceanview cabin. The TA got us an accessible one - not that we need it but the extra space is good and it is in an ideal location.

Thanks both - appreciate your help. Will keep an eye out.
It’s actually 2024 we’re planning for, so availability should be fine for a while yet.

Even Solo is a great price at $1194 for an Inside (the virtual balcony), but flights back to Sydney one way are over $1,000. I could use points via Qantas (at 55,200 with US$122 payable in taxes), but those flights are via LAX and almost 20 hours in length. And I really dislike Crapstar.... I mean Jetstar.

I did some dummy bookings and there are (at least) 50 inside cabins left.....

The 10 day next leg from Honolulu to Vancouver is only $A1239pp for a guarantee balcony.

The direct Air Canada fight back from Vancouver to Brisbane is a bit cheaper than the Jetstar flight from Honolulu to Sydney.

It's a lot of sea days, but it bears thinking about.

Opposite to topic. I received notification of 1/2 top end circumnavigation on Westerdam Nov 2024, 23 nights, $4599 inside. Balcony $7599. Not including gratuities or visa cost (Indonesia). Wow.

I do quite like sea days.  My life is so busy that I daydream about having a quiet, peaceful break with no phone, email or interruptions.

I was told by crew most passengers find five sea days max!

I found 5 days trans Atlantic (MSC) was too long. Especially when most tv channels dropped out. Two days is enough, I like port stops.

Hard for crew to keep passengers entertained for that long. 5 days was too long for me!!

Not sure if this considered el cheapo but cruising from Sydney to Brisbane is a better option than flying right now.

DD & friends flew to Brisbane last night.  Those flying with Jetstar had no issues.  Those flying with Virgin had their flight cancelled with next day flight given as the next option.FB0FD6D0-ADFE-4B46-840B-F4BDD4C82178.thumb.png.f3d5f913e08f77f6cc25353ce6eb5aba.png
