Sitting in the Diamond Lounge on Serenade as I read this post. So I went up to Mario and asked him about any changes starting May 1st. He stated that he has heard nothing yet to any changes to the DL. He said if there were to be a change and it would be fleet wide and he would surely know.

Could you please ask Mario why the Liberty has changed their Lounge status????

The D+ have been kicked out of the Concierge Lounge/Suite Lounge.

So let me see if I can misinterpret this correctly.

Several people were physically grabbed by the ear and repeatedly kicked in the rear as they were escorted out of the diamond lounge and then tossed onto the hallway floor by a huge bouncer with a fierce look on his face.

That's what "kicked out" means to me. :D

Well I will let you know on Sunday High Noon or maybe 1pm EST:D

If it isn't true, Im sure there are some on CC, that will be wanting to do that to me anyways:o

I did receive the email. However where it lists benefits of being Diamond it does say clearly Diamond Lounge.

I remain optimistic:D

Got this email from a friend that was on the Navigator cruise with us on the 10th of April. Please see the attachment and notice the bottom. It's says "Diamond Lounge Access". So maybe the OP missed it.

Sounds as if RCCL is worried about crowding in these lounges, so they're omitting mention of them in certain communications in hopes they'll be forgotten or overlooked by some passengers.

My most recent cruise on Vision was my first as a Diamond member. I dropped in on the designated "lounge area" (a public room whose name escapes me) the first night out. Even though there was plenty of space, it felt kind of cliquey. Almost everybody was in little groups, so I spoke for a while to one woman who was sitting alone, and then never went back.

But having the 3 drinks on my SeaPass to enjoy at my favorite watering holes around the ship was lovely. :)

I've only been on 2 cruises so far and have no exposure to the exclusive lounges, so forgive my naïveté. But wouldn't drink vouchers that you can use anywhere on board be better? You could hang out in any lounge and participate in activities/shows that you might otherwise miss out on by being tied to the DL for free drinks. Or, maybe some Ds might choose to congregate in one area to socialize so it really wouldn't be that different, would it?

D lounge puts out nice hot and cold appetizers. And if not too crowded is a nice atmosphere. But the bar coupons are nice too :)

We are sailing out on May 1 also (seems to be the key date) on Freedom OTS. On our roll call a D+ had received an email indicating that he had "exclusive access" to the Diamond Lounge.

I personally have not received an email from RCL relative to this subject. I'll know a whole lot more in 3 days.

It would seem odd that they would roll out major changes without prior notice, but it appears that the D+ members have had that happen to them.

Happy sailing all!

Mike (and Doris)

We did have this happen but there was ample notice given.

If they did stop Diamond members from entering the DL wouldn't they have to change the name too....makes no sense to have a DL and D can't enter....

Ha! Good point, I hadn't even thought of that. Maybe they should call it the Ultra Mega Pinnacle Diamond Plus Elite Plus Plus Lounge. [emoji38][emoji6]

Funny thing, before I was Diamond, I thought the D Lounge was about the free drinks.

What we found is that it's really about the people. We have met so many nice people, and mostly when we sit with others just meeting them, it has the feel as if we've known them for years.

The drinks on the cards are fine, it's just that we'll miss meeting the people. We have made so many new friends.

If they make that change we'll just have to go back to what we used to do until we make D+.

I agree with you 100%, the lounge has given us the opportunity to meet some amazing people and have made some very good friends. We regularly use the DL outside of the Happy Hour and will really miss it if we are forced out. With the limitations on our cruising due to work commitments and costs it will take us another 3 years before we reach Diamond Plus :(

Ditto with making friends in the lounge! We have met some wonderful people who we have subsequently cruised with again on other ships and still keep in touch with others we met.

Those who show up at the lounge want to socialize. If you meet someone at one of the bars on the ship, some are there to be with each other and not have conversations with strangers.

Keep the lounge going......

So I just opened an email for our upcoming May 1st cruise from RCCL

It was a dear Jon letter:rolleyes:

• Priority Check In & Complimentary Water: Enjoy priority boarding & a bottle of complimentary water in your stateroom upon arrival.

• Onboard Offers: Be sure to reference the Welcome Letter in your stateroom on embarkation day to view the great onboard offers for shopping; VitalitySM Day Spa, Internet Café, and other activities.

• Nightly Happy Hour: Enjoy three complimentary drink vouchers during the nightly happy hour (times vary by ship).

• Next Cruise Bonus: Up to $500 credit in instant onboard credit, when you book your next cruise onboard. Visit the next cruise desk for details.

• Balcony & Suite Discounts: Book your next cruise onboard in a Balcony or Suite stateroom and enjoy savings; combine this offer with the Next Cruise Bonus and save more!

Thank you for your continued loyalty and have a wonderful voyage!

No mention of DL access

It doesn't mention your "Welcome Amenity" or "Private Departure Lounge" either. Maybe those have been taken away, too. Or, maybe you just received an e-mail with a partial list of benefits, and you're reading too much into it.

5th cruise as Diamond and have never received this email

Fortunately for Royal not too many messengers get shot otherwise they'd be losing CC passengers hand over fist. Enjoy your cruise. :D

We got the same email. At the bottom it has a link to "See Your Benefits" which takes you to the longer list which includes the Diamond Lounge as well as other benefits not listed in the email.
