Any tips for getting off the ship quickly?

We will be heading back to Bermuda on a shiny and fresh Dawn in July.

We don't arrive in BDA until 1pm now, so we want to get off the ship ASAP and hop a cab or shuttle to the beach.

Arriving in BDA is definitely a spectacular sight. I'm thinking we will watch from the promenade instead of on the top deck.

Does anyone have any tips or pointers on how we can quickly disembark and try to beat the chaos at the pier? The Dawn in particular?

And no, we can't upgrade to a suite and get priority disembarkment :)

Thanks!

We have never had a problem getting off the ship quickly in ports when on the Dawn. Just head to the mid stairs right away upon arrival. They will stop you around deck 6 to wait for clearance. Once that happens you head down to deck 4 and off the ship. I think the large ships are more of an issue. It will arrive on Sunday so the buses are more limited so check the schedule.

No priority disembarkation for suites guest, btw.

just wait patiently in the stairs leading to the gangway (signs will be up already) for clearance to disembark. Don't carry any food off, else get stopped by the customs people (sometimes their during first disembarkation).

We just got off Breakaway on 4/24 and chose to have them take our luggage and we opted for 9:15. One of our children took their luggage at 8'ish and got right off. The other left with their luggage but left at 9'ish and we all ended up together(us helping with their luggage) on stairs and around Deck 7 with everyone with all different tags(times) trying to get off. Take luggage and get off immediately and you will be good. Otherwise you will be with everyone and their luggage and all just waiting. This was the worst part of the cruise. Everything else was great.

A couple of folks are talking about getting off with luggage? OP is talking about Bermuda, not Boston. For whoever said you can't get priority disembarkation in the ports, the Concierge has taken us to the head of the line in every port we've asked for. Never had to stand in line if we didn't want to. Not sure what ship did not allow line breaking for suites?

For the OP, if you want to be among the first off, hanging out to watch the arrival in Bermuda is not the way to do it. While others are watching the arrival, you should already be in queue.

We were on the Breakaway from 4/17 - 4/24. Two of our families chose to take their luggage and we opted for 9:15 with luggage taken the night before. One family left right after they called for people without luggage to leave and they jumped on it and got out pretty fast(8:30). Our other family left awhile after and then we we were called and we ended up helping the second family with their luggage and everyone else no matter what color tab they had ended up on the steps down to deck 7 and around the deck and we waited and moved and waited and moved. My suggestion is keep your luggage and go as soon as they say you can. A service person told me that they do not check tag colors and everyone just goes when they want.

The cruise was great and this was pretty much my only complaint.

Bermuda ports is - normally - not a tender ops, just to be clear. Both the Dawn & the Breakaway calling there will be at Dockyard.

OP looking to "beat" the crowd (on the Dawn) - without being in a suite, once the ship is cleared by local BDA officials >>> best option would be to sign up for one of the shore excursion with the earliest meeting time - they will then be given info/instructions on where to meet or assembly, and escorted off ... or, at least be in line first if their excursion is meeting on the pier instead (whatever protocols in use this season)

Otherwise, be near the the stairs or elevators as they will likely be using deck 4 for the gangway to go ashore. That means no watching from the top deck and/or promenade for the ship's arrival - or start heading downstairs once the ship round its way past St. George thru the shallow waters with the corals.

Dawn is the only ship arriving on Sunday, if I am not mistaken, there isn't going to be chaos at the pier - just take it easy & relax and not everybody is heading to the beach ;) ; plus, there is more than one beach :D - it will be okay, really :p

Just curious if you thought saying the same thing twice but using different words would somehow change the OP's question to what you want to talk about?

So, on day 3 of your cruise when you arrive at a day port, say Nassau, you have been escorted off the ship? The OP's question is not about the last day of the cruise, it is being the first off the ship at a day port to get the beach faster. I have NEVER been offered an escort to be the very first person to walk off a the ship at a day port. Priority tendering, yes. First to walk off the ship in Nassau, not.

People are going to be coming and going all day and night, as you are docked in Bermuda for three days.

First, you'll need to purchase a bus/ferry pass. These are good for multiple trips for up to three days. Or, grab a van cab which can be shared with others going to the same destination.

For two of my Dawn cruises, I had an OV on deck 4. Just had to walk out of my door, and off the ship fairly fast.

Not really a problem.

You won't have much competition for the beach Late Sunday afternoon.

Bermudians aren't using the busses on Sunday's.

The Majority of people don't leave Dockyard till Monday.

You will find 1/2 the folk's on the the ship don't even realize they are docked In Bermuda till the ship's cleared announcement.

There is a Spectacular hours ride inside the reef till docking.

J.M.H.O. ;)
