what was the best excursion you ever took through Carnival?

Best Carnival excursion to date was Passion Island by Twister Boat. An amazing all-inclusive day to this gorgeous island complete with a Mexican buffet and open bar. I stuck to Diet Cola but others raved about the Margaritas. The excursion was capped at so many people so it never felt over crowded. The ride over and back on the Twister Boat was an experience to remember.

** Due to rough seas, we were late by 45 min arriving back to the ship. Because of this being a Carnival excursion, the ship waited for our group.

in Belize....a beautiful tiny island with fish!

non-Carnival: Moby Dick's Stingray City tour and snorkeling. Hands-down the best: small group, smaller boat, attention to safety and details while still being fun and education....

Sky Safari Zipline in St Kitts. Just did it for the second time last week. A very well run operation. The views while on the zipline are incredible! Very much worth the cost.

I would have mentioned this one also but we weren't on a Carnival cruise when we did this excursion.

I don't think its been mentioned yet and while it doesn't have beautiful views, I have really liked the "Behind the Fun" on ship excursion.

It can only be booked on the ship and it fills up fast. They take you on a special tour(usually on the last sea day) to all the areas you normally don't see and then they tell you how everything works. You get to see everything from were they do the laundry, the galley, engineering control room, the massive refrigerators that store food/bear and it ends on the bridge where you meet the captain and the bridge crew(there is a lot more I didn't mention). Its really informative and it takes about 3-4 hours.

One thing your will learn if that for every crew member you see above deck, there is another two below deck that you never see.

I've done it on the Magic and Fantasy.

One neat fact I learned on the Magic tour. To desalinate water on the magic rather than wasting energy applying heat to boil sea water, they simply apply ocean water to a vacuum so it boils at room temperature. I know Im a nerd at heart, but who ever came up with that was a genius(someone needs to tell this to California).

The Appleton Rum Estate tour in Jamaica was fantastic. Guides were professional and got to taste 5 different types of rum with no limit.

this was also on our best list! great time and all the rum you wanted!:)

Rthyms of the Night in Puerta Vallarta. Amazing island with a wonderful buffet dinner and show. Loved the crew on the boat that transferred you from the pier to the island because they were a show in themselves.

we agree 100%, and I booked that in error but have never regretted the mistake. The best ever!

First hi everyone! I haven't been on here for a couple years and am so glad to be thinking about planning another cruise.

My favorite Carnival excursion was the Dolphin Encounter at the Blue Lagoon in Nassau on our first cruise. So much fun and good memories!

Land Rover jeep safari in Belize before they changed it. Got onto small from from the ship and went up the river to a cave spot, had lunch and drove back. A horse and colt jumped right in front of us and we had to swerve. Lots of mosquitoes but they don't bite me.

That was my favorite it was about 13 years ago

But we did opposite direction

Took a bus to the caves, than I got to drive the Land Rover through all the mud:D

the river boat back

We did a Carnival "America's Cup Regatta" Challenge. I believe this is now offered in Cozumel. One of the best excursions I have ever been on.

I agree wholeheartedly! I did this excursion in St. Maarten two years ago, and it was fantastic. Well worth the price.

I did this and was assigned to be the main sheet. My slogan was I don't take no sheet. My elbows hurt for 6 months after pulling that sheet line over and over and over. Next time I'll pass out the beer!

Tie between "La Casa en la Playa" in Cozumel (great drinks, beach, service! Truly a relaxing beach day), and Tiami Sail, Turtles and Beach in Barbados. That one had a bit of everything and the excursion was 7 hours long! They went out of their way to give everyone what they wanted (good food, drink, snorkeling, swimming). We event got to jump off the boat by the beach. Totally fun excursions and worth every bit of money booking through Carnival!

  • 3 months later...
No contest.... In Cozumel, the "Surf & Turf, 4x4 Terracross and Speed Boat" was the BEST ever for us! :D The kids still talk about it regularly.

I have a few questions regarding this excursion. We have it booked in a couple weeks and I haven't been able to find my answers anywhere...

1. How do you enter the speedboats? Are they docked or do you have to swim out to them?

2. How do you exit the speedboats? Docks? Swim?

I am curious to know if getting in the water is required. I understand that getting wet will happen, but I need to know (for medical reasons) if walking in/swimming through water is required for this excursion?

Thank you so much for answering this for me.

Ours was the Bob Marley bus in Ochos Rios, Jamaica. Great music of course, and you see a part of Jamaica not normally seen by tourists.

I have the Bob Marley excursion booked on my next cruise. I'm super excited. So far the best excursion was zip lining in San Juan.

Six cruises, over 20 Caribbean ports and I've only ever taken one Carnival excursion. The first port on the very first cruise. I would barely rank it in the top 10 of all the excursions I've taken. It was to Xcaret (http://www.xcaret.com), which I would love to take a repeat trip to BUT not through Carnival.

The best excursions I've taken while on a Carnival ship are:

Private Snorkeling excursion with Aruba Bob in Aruba

Swimming with the Stingrays in Grand Cayman with Moby Dick (have gone twice)

But my best experiences have been when there was no planned excursion at all. A day walking around in Curacao or a taxi ride to Brewers Beach in Tortola or a day walking around in Old San Juan. Those have truly been my best days.

- Playa del Carmen bike ride to Chaak-Tun caverns (cenote) with cave snorkeling. Breathtaking experience! After the 98 degree bike ride of several miles it was a dream entering the cool 72 degree cave spring water. The snorkeling and underground sights were amazing, and when we exited the park, we as a surprise were given the option of riding back in an air-conditioned van or biking again. About 90% of the riders chose the van, because we just felt so refreshed and didn't want to get overheated again, as it was even hotter out, if that was possible.

- When Venezuela was a do-able stop: A tour out of La Guaira, nicknamed the "Indiana Jones" tour. A wild and rustic jeep trip east along the coast- through a native village in the rain forest (not a touristy thing, but the real deal!), back out through some burbs for a home-cooked parador-style lunch, then along the rocky, hilly, and scenic coast to a beautiful beach for a swim. So many different ecosystems in one day! Very scenic, and a wild, crazy ride. Bumpy, dusty, and not for the faint of heart or body. (This was one trip where the warnings were warranted.) It was many miles of bone jostling in the jeeps, over lots of unpaved rural roads and trails, and the drivers were of course all driving like Indy drivers!

- (Honorable Mention) In Grenada, the "Queen's Tour" island ride. This was just your basic island tour, but so many beautiful views and different geographies in one small island. It was/is called the Queen's Tour because this is the route that the Queen of England would be toured, as a true compendium of the beauties that the island has to offer. It also included stops at a fort/old prison, the airport where the US Marines rescued the international medical students when Cuba/socialists tried to take over, spice markets (quite unique to Grenada), and a beach stop.

Isla de Pasion by Catamaran (my travel buddy was concerned about the twister boat) in Cozumel. Lovely beach, good service, good price, fun ocean bouncy toy things.

I can't recall the name, but a snorkeling excursion in Grand Turk that went to a spot in the reefs & the drop off. Amazing snorkeling & a great crew.

Seeing all the great reviews for this is making me jealous! I peeked at it because we're stopping at Ocho Rios on our next cruise & it looked so fun! Of course I'm traveling with the minions (aka my kids) & that just isn't a good fit. So private excursion to Dunn's River Falls it is!
