Hi, we're sailing Oasis of the Seas in June. My daughter wants to know if we are allowed to decorate our cabin door with magnets and stuff? Have you seen people doing this on the ship?

No problem, see it all the time.

Yes, as the previous post said, don't put anything on your hallway door that you aren't willing to lose!:( However, do remember that your entire cabin is magnetized and you can place magnets with decorations on any of your inside walls too!;)

We have also used double-sided tape for those door-sized Halloween decorations; just be sure you can get all of the goo off of the doors! Last cruise, we placed a magnetized erase board on the door and got some pretty funny notes (only 1 nasty:mad: remark) left by various passers by!! All in all, it was a lot of fun reading and replying to some of them!!

Don't forget to register for your free Meet & Mingle on the ship via your roll call for your June week on Oasis for the opportunity to meet those cruising with you!!! Have a great cruise!!!:D

I was trying to post the one I did for my great niece/nephew. I bought colored wooden shapes (anchor , mermaid and pirates and clued a magnet to the back. I put them on their door with some wrapping paper along with other novelties.

I use the 3M command hooks inside the room for clothes and the poster tabs for hanging decorations. They come off the walls/door as long as you take your time when pulling them off.

I agree with the others. I have had plenty of things removed from my door, including one that re-appeared 4 doors down. I can't get over why people think it is ok to steal something even if it is just a magnet or decoration of some sort.

Me too. I had a poster on my door for this past Christmas that said "Keep Calm and Get Your Ho Ho Ho On" which "walked" away. My husband found it several doors down. I snatched it back and put it back up on our door, but exchanged it with a note on the thief's door that I had rescued our sign. Later when I walked by the sign I put on the thief's door, my note had been moved to the adjacent door. Got me to thinking perhaps the thief just deposited my sign on some unsuspecting person's cabin door and not his/her door. Who knows.

Fortunately my sign stayed on my door the rest of the cruise.

Door decorations with legs are usually the result of a prankster, or a gang thereof, moving the decorations to a door other than his/her/their own. Your neighbour, as you've surmised, was probably an innocent party and had no involvement whatsoever.

I really can't imagine the mind that would consider it funny and a prank to steal (not move) door decorations that were obviously the work of a small child. Someone stole my DGSs' undersea gels that were at the height a two- and four-year-old would place them.

There was a thread within the last six months or so, possibly on another board, with several posts by passengers reporting roving groups of kids taking/moving decorations. Ship's security became involved in at least one case. Of course, the oblivious parents couldn't believe that their little snowflakes might have any larcenous inclinations and felt that it was all in the spirit of having "fun". More disturbing were the cases where the security cameras found adults doing exactly the same thing. Usually late at night after several-too-many drinks. For them, it was hilarious. Sad...

I am wanting to get a personalized Congrats Grad sign for my son's cabin door. After reading these, thinking just personalized with Class of 2017/his name & not using one of his senior photos, like I originally thought. Do they open the halls at 1:00 like the other ships? I want it up when he gets to his room.

Yes you can.

Fire retardant and non marking are, I seem to recall, the restrictions

I decorate our door every cruise with many magnets and also a white board. We love to see what people say to us each day. It doesn't take much to make it a fun door. We had 1400 kids on our Freedom cruise over the holiday and not one of my fun magnets was taken. Of course they left many fun drawings, but in all the times I have put things on none have been taken. Our room steward asked why I decorated the door and I smiled and said so I can find my room when I come back at night. He loved it.

It doesn't take much to make it fun. Do it.

On one of our cruises with my Dad, he kept going to the wrong cabin trying to insert his seapass card. We all kinda laughed about it. The following cruise I surprised him and made us door signs. That way he went to the right cabin when returning from the casino each evening. I use various items usually put on card stock with some large magnets attached to the back. I like to use stickers or letters naming the ports we will be visiting, along with the ship name and our cabin #. My thoughts are the cabin number keeps them from being removed. They make for a nice reminder of which ship when included with other souvenirs from our cruises.

Magnetic sheets about 5X7 can be purchased at Office depot.

It is a form of vandalism. And I for one don't want to walk down the corridor, and feel like I'm in a trailer park.

Decorate your own door at home. Don't ruin my vacation.

That's a little extreme. I think door decorations are a bit silly and unnecessary but hardly vandalism. And ruin your vacation? Thats even more silly then not being able to find your door unless it's decorated...
