When will my stateroom be assigned? Cruise is in less than two weeks.

Since we mostly booked guarantees I can say that most of the time we've gotten the assignment about 7-14 days out.

That said, there have been times when we didn't get the assignment until we arrived at the pier.

 

My personal belief is that the later the assignment the better the chance for a free upgrade. Certainly not all the time but why not look on the bright side? :D

 

Regardless when you find out I hope you have a fun and entertaining cruise.

We are a "guarantee" on the Casino promotion sailing March 18th and no cabin yet either :( Not a big deal I guess, but I like to see where we are on the ship. I guess as long as I am on the ship and not at work, it really won't matter now, will it? :loudcry:

Last Friday, I went on to "book" our cruise for the 18th and there were plenty of interior and oceanview cabins still available. Today everything is sold out but Verandah cabins!!!! Looks like cabin assignments are being made!

What happens if you are Guarantee and are assigned a cabin with a connecting door? I absolutely won't stay in a hotel with a connecting door, and didn't realize the inside cabins, this might be a problem?

 

 

Problem or not, connecting cabins are found in all categories except the Pinnacle Suite. If you absolutely do not want a connecting cabin and it would ruin your cruise, you should not book a guarantee cabin. Once assigned, it may be very difficult to change if the ship is full.

I was advised to call Reservations, which I did and they sent a message to the office that assigns the staterooms stating that we should not be assigned a cabin with a connecting door. Based on my past experience with HAL, I am very confident, they will respect the request. Thank you all!

I'm not fond of connecting rooms in hotels either. I always place a chair in front of the connecting door when there is one. And while I'm sure the folks at HAL would like to accommodate everyone's requests, when it comes time to assigning guarantee cabins, I think it's a computer program and not a person. If it's a deal breaker to have a connecting door in your cabin, you should pick a specific cabin and not go the guarantee route.

It could happen as close as the last Friday before your cruise.
If you're implying that assignments are not done on weekends' date=' that's not true. Or at least it was [i']once[/i] not true, as we have gotten them on Sat and Sun evenings.

I'm 25 days out and I check about a 1000 times a day, lol. Plus monitoring he inventory online!

 

Not that it will make a difference on when/what cabin I get, but it's definitely ramping up the excitement for the cruise! :D

VTCruiseneut, I hope you don't get in a connecting cabin, but really I do have a problem with them guaranteeing you will not. People pay a certain rate for the gamble....Might be less, might be more...doesn't matter. You agree to any cabin in that class or better. If they guarantee you won't be in a connecting room, then do they promise a balcony cabin won't get a steel verandah, or a small spa balcony, or neither a steel verandah nor a small one.

 

I don't find fault with wanting an individual cabin, but I do have a problem if HAL starts promising guarantees anything more than the promise of that category or better.

 

I have never taken a guarantee, by the way. And have always marked my choice as no upgrade....for reasons just like this. I'm not willing to take the chance.

We've had lots of connecting cabins on GUAR assignments and never had a problem. There are two doors sandwiched together, both with individual locks. No more noise that any other cabins.

Usually a love seat instead of a full length sofa, but the cabin is just the same as any other.

 

I do agree that HAL can't play games with guarenteeing a certain set up, such as no connecting cabins, no steel balcony for GUARs.

I too am wondering about when I'll get my cabin assignment. I'm sailing on the Koningsdam in five days and I still see Guar on all the docs. What makes my situation a little different is I'm meeting a buddy on the ship and he's doing the twenty-one days while I'm I'm only going for ten. We booked together (we are both straight, not that that matters) and neither one of us was charged a single supplement. He got his cabin at booking while my docs don't even say Fort Lauderdale as the port of departure. we have different booking numbers also. I have a feeling that when the computers figure it out I'll be put in his room, but it would be nice to get a cabin of my own:D.

We were a guarantee Neptune Suite on the Eurodam and very surprisingly got a good location on deck 7 near the lounge.

Nice news, don't know joe we ended up in such a good spot.
