Preferential Suite Access To Customs?

This is not reality.

Once the suite passenger is off the ship the suite perks are halted.

Apparently you didn't read the thread; several people have experienced this wonderful perk - including myself. It is not a guaranteed perk, and does not happen at all ports or all sailings, but it is certainly real and not uncommon.

I concur based on my experience when travel with family members in First without the Pre TSA.

I've done a lot traveling by air. I fly mostly business and 1st. One time I did 30 flights in 30 days. I do have Global Entry, which give me tsa precheck. It is my understanding that being over the age of 65 you can get tsa precheck given to you at random. When I fly British Airways through or to London. The flight attendant give me a card to access shorter lines for transfers or customs. Fly Emirates and they will pick you up at your home and take you to the airport. It is all part of the Suite Life.

I think that would be a great idea - allow all Elite, Elite Plus, Zenith and suite class guests to use the fast track. That should make it nice and quiet for us mere mortals in "Considerably Unimportant Traveller Class"

Well said

I understand where aboatnerd is coming from and concern. The question is whether Celebrity' date=' and its foreign flagged ship, should escort and have suite passengers cut the line/ go through the shorter lines for USA customs at a port entry that has a prescreened line. Passengers are no longer on Celebrity property (or another cruise lines property).

We have global entry (which we did for extensive international travel at airport entries into the us) and to the person who used "preferential" treatment with global entry, as they know, was prescreening with tsa which included a background check, personal interview, and fingerprinting.

We were in ft lauderdale port last year and the line was stopped to allow certain passengers to go ahead of this shorter line that I believe was supposed to be for passengers pre-screened by the us government. Some were in a wheelchair and had motility issues, but others did not and did not have the global entry cards (which they were looking for at the port). I don't know if they were in a suite but the point was that they were taken to the front of the line ahead of others waiting.

When returning from a cruise the last step is really not as much a security issue as it is to declare your purchases if any and to be checked for illegal foods, plants or animals. This has NOTHING to do with what Global Entry provides the TSA.

Mobile passport is more attuned to speeding your way through the declaration process than Global Entry.

When returning to FLL from our last cruise they opened a line to the left for Mobil Passport. We left the serpentine and walked right through with my iphone barcode faster than if we were on the suite line which was on the right side.

Just my recent observations.

I look at things differently. I think all of us that cruise are very fortunate. So many people never travel or take vacations.

I love it. "It's not fair! We are a democracy! The US is a classless society! (At times, I despair that it is so...;)) Everyone is equal!"

Please, then, donate enough of your vacation funds to ensure that all US citizens have the same chance at a cruise so they, too, can go through customs with you- dare I say, in front of you? Fair is fair, right?

SMH.

On Celeb, as a suite guest, you now get quite alot..Previously the loyalty levels were the key to perks but not so much anymore.

Once we try out Edge where we will be in AQ, we may move up to a suite...and cruise less often. Not worth it for us now on M and S class as we really are quite happy with BLU...

I booked a suite last summer and this on Summit-

yesterday it was unbelievable the number of people waiting to self carry off...

we struggled to get thru the crowds lining to get off - to go wait in Michaels.

Both last year and this- we collected our luggage from the labeled suite area and then were directed to the far left line. The actual screening/questions were not anything faster...as a matter of fact- it seemed like their electronics were down and all were processing by hand....

When I fly each year- I always get TSA pre-check.....I do not pay for it....thought it would stop as it was said they would be restricting it to those who paid for it...we do not pay- I am still getting it...

On Celebrity- the suite perk is stated "Priority check-in & debarkation. "

The same experience for us two weeks ago. Miami I believe does not allow a special line.
We got this priority access when disembarking in Miami in February. We were in a suite and met at Michael's Club. We did have two wheelchair guests in our party. The concierge could not accompany us but had two staff members pushing the wheelchairs for us. Once off the ship we were met by a cruise terminal staff member who guided us to the elevators to go down to the luggage area. At the luggage area the ship staff departed and our two seniors had to walk through customs. The cruise terminal staff member went to a roped off area and opened it up for us to pass through and go right to the front of one of the customs lines (there were multiple lines). We were on our own at that point.

But going to the front of the line was based on having two passengers in wheelchairs, not because of being in a suite.

It happened to us the year prior at Fort Lauderdale as well when we were in a suite and there were no wheelchair guests with us at that time. I gave the above example as I was replying to a specific comment about Miami. In that prior case we were escorted from Michael's Club down to baggage and then a terminal agent put us into a priority customs line (meaning, you could only get into that line if she granted access).

I didn't see a separate line in Miami this past Monday (not saying there wasn't one, just didn't see it). However, I did get perturbed when my son and I are directed to the end of the line for customs but all the porters carrying luggage along with their clients were allowed to go through to the head of the line. I get that they work on tips and stuff, but why am I being penalized for being ok with carrying my suitcases by myself. They should have to wait in line same as me. Sometimes I've seen this done the proper way at other ports. The porter goes through and waits for the clients who stay in the line where they belong.

Don't ever embark at Mumbai then! Queuing? Who has ever heard of queuing? Sometimes in life you just have to wear your patience hat with pride and watch the rest of the world go crazy.
