Casinos, Specifically on Star Princess

No you can get chips for table games on your cruise card and cruise cards are used in slot machines. At least this has been my recollection over the last 10 years. Of course if you are going to charge chips to your cruise card you will have to wait for the pit boss to ok it.

You can use cash or your cruise card in the casino on the Star and on all Princess ships.

However, I can't imagine one would ever be able to receive a casino rate on a future cruise if using cash.

You still either hand your cruise card to the pit boss or insert your card into the machine to track your play. So it shouldn't make any difference at all when it comes to eligibility for CVIP or other casino offers.

One of the nice things about Princess casino is that there is no fee for getting casino cash (chips or use in slots), as opposed to some other lines that charge around 3%. On the other hand, the Royal allowed smoking in the casino on most nights. Ewwww!

Thanks to those who informed me that you are still tracked when using cash so are "in the running" for a casino offer. It's good when one can learn new things. :)

I should have mentioned in my comment that when you're playing slots, you need to put your card in the machine while you're playing in order to get tracked. You'll see the points start tallying regardless of whether you use cash or charge your on board account - it's the play that matters. Probably obvious but I thought I'd clarify just in case!

I bet around $ 2,500 with my travel agency and always end up being comped a cruise.

Even though you can insert cash, you cannot get "cash" out. No tickets. Anything you get back out of the machine goes on your cruise card. The money on your card can then be reused in a different machine or cashed out at the cashier.

the whole casino reeks of smoke...does not matter if it's a smoking or non-smoking night or section...would love to see a smallish non-smoking casino in a separate section a long ways from the main casino...but...that's not going to happen... noone would go there because it would be too crowded...;p

I have to wonder if you might be an ex-smoker. I am (smoked for around 20 years and quit about 28-29 years ago) and I absolutely detest the reek of smoking. Sometimes I think ex-smokers are the harshest critics of the smell.

I always bring cash and I had my first casino rate last November so they must do some tracking.I was able to book a balcony on the Regal for $259pp for a 7 night cruise.I had no intention of booking a cruise then but couldn't pass it by.The airfare was as much as the cruise!

May I asked my fellow casino players .. my brother in law love this machine called Good Vibrations.. it takes 3 quarters and the arms go back n fro hoping your 3 quarters pushes the other quarters out.. very common game.. He spent hours on this machine.. you don't win much but you can get a coin for a bottle of wine or a t-shirt.. thanks hope I explained right..

I've seen these type of machines. I always thought that in rough seas you could really hit the jackpot, LOL.
