I agree. I have no problem with Royal providing P’s their own lounge.

You really can't design for worst case scenarios.  90% of the time it's not an issue at all.

For now. 😉

Pinnacle is 700 points, not 700 days at sea, big difference.  Sail in a cheap JS solo and that is an easy 21 points.  Add a casino offer to it and cost per day is minuscule.

So, how much is a cheap solo JS?

What about 49 years of cruising (since 1970) with Royal. Have to admit though haven’t been that loyal, we cruise on many other lines otherwise would have made Pinnacle a long time ago. Making Pinnacle has never been a goal of ours.

I was 8 in 1970.  Didnt even know what a vacation cruise was until Love Boat.

Thanks for the information.

We have never used the casino even though our D+ benefits include some free casino benefits.

Back in the day, the D+ coupon book included 3-5 match play coupons. That was our incentive to get to D+. 😁

They quit that promotion before we made it. 😥

I have a friend who won a free cruise from the casino and there was no 1099.

Plus, the "taxes" he had to pay included non-commissionable fees, so you are correct in saying port fees and taxes and anything else Royal deems.

The annual free cruise does not have to cover the non commission portion, just the published taxes and port fees

The match plays were at the Platinum level,  but there were only 3.  I have no idea if they were offered lower.

I didn’t realize the D+ got 5 match plays.

I loved the match plays and those were the only bets I made in the Casino,  and I had that benefit well before we were diamond.

You got more as you rose in the ranks. 😁

We made Diamond before Emerald existed.

We used to trade bingo coupons for match plays. 😉

Smart move.  I was super depressed when they changed to digital coupons and eliminated the match plays.  It was my favorite benefit outside of the diamond drinks.

You were fortunate. Emerald just squeaked in to be a PITA level for me.

Ah man I used to love those match plays!  *sigh* Memories...:classic_happy:

I gotta chuckle at all the talk of alcohol in this thread.  I drink, but my favorite part of the DL by far is the espresso machine. The wonderful D concierge on Mariner in December finally showed me how to make a proper Americano... apparently I was doing it wrong for years!

Well, here is my 2 cents. Hubby and I became Diamond a couple of years ago- after 17 years of accumulating points. Children who sail with a Diamond parent retain Diamond status after turning 18 w/o having earned those points, and their children get the status immediately.  There are all these Diamond travelers that have not earned  the status, yet represent a LOT of cruisers. While I will never pay for a suite, at least those people are paying for the perks they are receiving. If Diamond status had been retained for those that earn it, there would be a lot less Diamonds and more room for benefits to being Diamond.

It varies based on play. From total company cabins in different category to discounted rates.

Thanks.

Does it work on how much you spend in the casino,or how many times you play or is it a prize draw?

The coupon book was good because you handed the vouchers to the relevant department and got the offer when you wanted to use it.

Any casino vouchers we gave to anyone we were speaking to in the DL who went to the casino.

Slots have a fixed points based on $ played.

Table games are given points based on wagers and time spent playing.

At the end end of the cruise or multiple cruises, the casino host/Club Royale may award a certificate based on your points. The higher the points, the better the certificate/discount/cabin Comp.

i never played enough to be comped a Suite but did get a couple of balcony cabins we were able to upgrade to a GS. Typically, we would get a discount.

Not sure i understand a prize draw?

I think the OP was asking if they give raffle tickets based on number of plays and you have to « win » a cruise in a raffle, rather than just be comped outright.

Great information thanks.

That's good you have had a couple of balcony cabins.

With regards to a prize draw I thought maybe everyone who played in the casino got a ticket every day they played then at the end of the cruise a draw was made and the winner was comped a balcony.
