Chef's Table For A Picky Eater?

Was wondering how they deal with picky eaters for the Chef's Table meal?  There are things I just don't like and things I won't even try, so do they make "accommodations" or am I SOL?  For example, I do not like fish, will they just give me two of another item and not the fish, or do I just get what they're serving and don't eat it?  I really would love to try the Chef's Table, and all those I will be traveling with will put anything into their mouth (get your mind out of the gutter please) so for them it won't matter.  There are no allergies nor dietary restrictions, just a personal taste/texture thing.

So has anyone had any experience with the Chef's Table being a picky eater?  Have you told a little white lie and said you had allergies and restrictions to certain foods to make sure they wouldn't serve it?  Or if you have the allergies/restrictions did they prepare something different for you?

Thanks!

We were on a trip last month and did the Chef's Table for the first time.  There was a guy there that was a very picky eater and he admitted and owned it when his wife told people.  For example, he wouldn't eat chicken if it's on the bone, would not do fish so they served him something different, does not eat pork, and a few other things.  So, I believe if you're up front with them, you should not have any problem.  My wife doesn't care for fish, but tried the piece that was served and then passed it to me to finish.  There were no issues with this either.

I am also a non seafood eater and have done Chefs Table 4-5 times with no issue .

the night before, they will come to your table to confirm your attendance and at that time, you need to tell them of what you can’t eat.

What they do is substitute a meat for seafood dishes but the dish itself is the same as others.

What I can’t tell from the OP is what is meant by picky eater. Mine is mainly no seafood but if you just don’t eat differently prepared dishes (which there are many), I’m wondering if Chefs Table is for you.

Id say you might wanna pass on the chefs table then. ther'es gonna be all kinds of stuff on the menu, we had salmon, tuna tartare, and lots of other goodies, but there are so many courses, you could just pass on the things and still have plenty  to eat

I think it depends how picky. If it’s 3 or 4 specific things you won’t eat, you could give them a list and they should be able to accommodate. If you don’t eat any vegetables and the only protein you eat is chicken or whatever then I think that’s too much to ask.

We have done the Chef's Table numerous times no one has ever come to our table and asked anything.

to the OP, I think you are missing the point of the Chef's Table, stick with the Steakhouse. Whether they will adjust the menu just for you is very nice, but the whole idea is to try everything.

I am also a picky eater. I don't like fish much. I don't like onions or tomatoes. I don't like my food to touch on the plate. All that being said I LOVED LOVED the Chefs table!!! First it's a lot of food, if after tasting something if you don't like it, don't eat it. You will still get full and unlike me will be able to finish the deserts. Also, no one has ever asked us about what we like or don't. We have done it three times. Be brave if it is important to it. You may be surprised. I loved the sea bass dish and I never like fish. Happy cruising!!!

The purpose of the Chefs Table is to experience new foods prepared a new way and to experience the artistry and creativity of the Chef.

The Chef has spent many years in school and learning from others.

Tator Tots and burgers can be found on the Lido

when we did CT on the Fantasy a few years back all the menus for it were the same, but, they were just finishing a rollover I think or starting to rollover to a new CTmenu

the way I heartell it they'd roll out the new menu in Miami on a couple ships and spread it fleetwide over about a 2 yr period or so

recently, from peeps that have tabled, they are saying there's gonna be more variety and flexibility in the fleet with the table where multiple menus will be in use and changing more frequently

in the past I had heard the menu might run as long as 5 or 6 yrs exactly the same on some ships

I have our menus, I think we had 3-4 mains, some kind of yardbird, might have been Cornish hen or maybe it was Grouse? or pheasant? then a small salmon filet and the waygu and I wanna say something else   our tuna tartare was a big wad of tuna though much more than an appetizer sized dish

we had that nasty green pea soup, the great bread, those 4 amuse bouche bites in the kichen IF I dig around I can find a pic of our menu but there's threads here with menus on them, I know our dessert was 88 deg farenheit don't think they serve that now?    that wad of caramel and chocolate would about make anyone sick after stuffing all that food down during the evening

I am an extremely non-adventurous eater. There are many foods I don’t like. But my husband and I did the Chef’s Table last week and I loved it. The only thing was that I drew the line at raw foods. So there was one appetizer I couldn’t eat, and part of another one (I just took the raw part off). But I tried everything else and while I didn’t like everything, I liked some things I wouldn’t have expected to. It was a fabulous night and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

My husband and I have done the chefs table a few times and we are extremely picky eaters, think no seafood, duck, etc. Mostly chicken and beef. The last time we went on there were NO chicken or beef dishes. Honestly, there very good about substituting if you ask but it gets to the point where you're embarrassed having them bring you a different dish every course. The last one included items like sea bass, duck, lamb, veal, etc. The experience is pretty cool, but if you're not an adventurous eater, I would definitely pass.

I find it hard to understand why someone who is a "picky eater" would bother spending the money for the Chef's Table.  The whole point is to try things you might not otherwise experience, prepared in ways than are also unique.  It is designed with a set menu for the true experience.  Asking for substitutions to avoid things "you won't eat" pretty much negates the whole thing.  It makes me wonder how folks get to this "I won't eat X, Y, & Z" state.  When I was 10 I was that way, but one's palette should expand as one gains experiences.

We didn't spend money on it, it was a gift from the casino 🙂

We just did chef's table on the Magic-our 4th time- and they will substitute if you tell them ahead of time. I don't eat red meat or pork, my husband is gluten free and we have always had an amazing experience. this last one has been my favorite!

I am a very pick eater, and I have gone to Chef’s Table twice because I was with a large group of friends who wanted to go.  The Chef’s Table staff asked about allergies, and I told them I have no allergies but quite a few things I don’t care for.  They did a good job at substituting other things and understood when I didn’t want to try something.  I am also a non-drinker, so the wine wasn’t a draw for me.  I mostly went to be with friends, and that was worth the price of admission.
