Back to Back Questions

Recommended Posts

We are booked on B2B sailings in March of 2020.  I have a couple questions if anyone can help.

1)  Will they issue our Sea Passes on Day 1 for the 2 cruises or do we have to get it reissued for the second cruise?

2)  We always bring our alotted 2 bottles of wine on board when we drive/cruise.  Can we bring 4 bottles onboard on day 1 for both cruises?

Input would be appreciated,

They will issue the SeaPass cards for the second cruise either the last night of the first cruise or on disembarkation day of the first cruise.

You can bring 4 bottles of wine on day 1 of the first cruise.  Have the documentation for the second cruise handy.

Question 2 If you decide not to carry 4 you can buy wine at cruise terminal in Amsterdam .... last year we bought ours at a small grocery by hotel before boarding

then realized that wine was available at terminal.

Done B2B's several times and have one 'pending'

In our experience you leave the ship at the very last moment having met up with all the other B2B'ers and head into the terminal ( I may add we've only done this in Fort Lauderdale ) and sit down for 5/10 mins whilst they give out your new SPC. The only issue I've ever seen with this is a woman who wanted to keep her old SPC from the cruise that had ended.

You obviously take your passport with you etc, but leave your stuff in your cabin as if you were in port somewhere midcruise.

Then pretty much 1st back on board, and this next bit can some times be the 'benefit' of doing a B2B - they take you for a free lunch! The last 2 have been Giovanni's and Jamie's Italian.

Having either a drinks package and a free drinks status means I don't bother with bringing wine onboard - my guess, it's effectively 2 separate cruises so don't risk a trip to the 'naughty room' to go get your bags on day 1 ha ha

Hope that helps?

B2B  in the US ,at the end of the first cruise. everyone gets off, goes through customs and they check your passport, and receives  their new card. Once through customs , you return to the ship.  Usually you are the first on, but not always.

I wanted to add that you are allowed back to your room anytime, no need to wait for the rooms to be open for everyone else.

We didn't get a free lunch.  Is this only for certain cruises?

Yes, each ship does things differently.

RCI:  Really Consistently Inconsistent.

Yeah, Bob...I did it again.  😉

One B2B cruise out of Bayonne had a Noro outbreak and we returned early. Our luggage stayed on the ship, but we were bused to a midtown Manhattan hotel, all expenses paid, while the ship was cleaned up.

We had a b2b out of San Juan. Met in a lounge and prepared to get off but told we didn't have to. Checked us "off" then gave us our new cards and we never got off.  Lunch was available in the mdr. Cabins available.   Also, if you want to get off early and go sightseeing ot whatever,  they will work with you.

They may check 2 bottles and give them to you at the start of the second cruise.  Or, they may let you take all 4 at the beginning of the first cruise.  But you can definitely take 2 per cruise.

I hope I get to keep my Sea Pass card. I have kept every single one of them and would hate to be missing one.

They have been taking our old SeaPass cards when they give us the new ones.  Some sort of security thing.  However, if you ask at Guest Services (or Concierge if you are in a suite) after day 1, they will give back the old SeaPass cards.

We keep all of ours to. We are thinking of making an accent wall, in the family room, with them. Just kidding, with 96 total cards it would have to be a very small wall.

If you want to make sure you have one, you could lose the one you have and get a replacement card at GS,

DH keeps all of our old sea pass cards in a wooden box he made for them.  Though it is getting a bit too full now, is actually not bad to have them keep the old ones on a B2B.  😉

On one of our b2b the middle was in San Juan and we were herded to a holding area to await getting back on the ship.  In this same area was the duty free booze shop.  Experienced cruisers had brought with them anything that could hold bottles of booze and began to load up.  There was no checking of bags as we were escorted enmasse back on board.

when I was dinging out for the second leg of a B2B on Mariner in Miami, security was keeping the cards. A lady ahead of me protested and requested to keep her card and the security guy wrote down her cabin number. When it came to my turn, I simply requested my card back and he added my cabin number to a list he had. Not a problem, no sweat...just politely ask to keep your card if you see they are keeping the old one.

Going on a B2B with Allure next year as well.   If a cruise has a drink card , it seems to become available mid cruise in most cases. Just wondering if a drink card is purchased mid cruise, is it only applicable for the rest of that cruise? Or if there are drinks still available with the card, can it be used on the 2nd leg of the B2B?
