Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Something else quite exciting was that yesterday, randomly DH said that as soon as it is safe to travel that we can have a few days in Seville.  This was the next trip on my list before COVID.  It is wonderful to find out that he is even thinking about travel.  It is now actually one year since I have been anywhere.   This time last year I was visiting my parents and sister in UK.  Then I came home.

In the summer my daughter and I spent a few Sundays on a beach which required a 45 minute drive.  I went to Malaga once to pick up daughter from a villa that she was visiting.  That is the sum total of my travel experience.  Cancelled bucket trip to the Norwegian Fjords (on my first ever aft balcony cabin), no November NCL Epic Western Med trip.  No visits to family.  No visits for face to face meetings with my university supervisors in Sheffield.  No weekends away.  Just Gibraltar and its 6.8 square km.

Just take me anywhere.

My covid19 started when I woke up and my pyjama top was soaking.

A couple of days later I was shivering excessively.

Later I woke up and the top half of my body was dripping wet.

I had a slight cough only but my voice went and I struggled to speak.

5 days after initial symptoms I lost my sense of taste but could smell okay.

I had a tension headache at the back of my neck and felt light headed when getting out of bed to go to the toilet.

For 3 weeks I felt incredibly tired and stopped in bed for 3 weeks sleeping most of the time.

Hopefully you just have a cold.🤞

I hope Eric is okay and you test  negative.

Graham.

That sounds dreadful.    Thank god you have Pauline to take care of you.

One of our Sons said he would come up to help me if needed as he works from home anyway.   I don't want to infect him so I said No, Mom will be okay.    I did make it to my covid test but really didn't feel like getting dressed and driving myself there.   Trying to do some work online but am exhausted.   With help of tylenol I was able to get my temperature down to 98.8.    After a long hot steam shower my throat and body aches feel a little better.

Did get Great news!    They started Eric on a Barcitinib with Remedesivir treatment yesterday and reduced his anti-rejection meds in half and he is responding well today.    They said he could be home in a couple of days if this treatment works as planned.

Let's hope I feel up to picking him up - LOL!

I have a dog friend who actually believes the vaccine will change peoples' DNA.   It will be a waste of time to say anything.  I sure hope I don't have a horrid reaction to the second shot on March 2.

Conspiracy theories....they are out there...and there is one of "them" in every bunch.  😉

Can I assume your dog friend is a self described doctor?  🤭

Me?  I will follow the professional advice from those that have spent years and a lot of $$ being educated in the field...like my sister.  She is an actual doctor...a specialist...of infectious diseases.  Stories like that make her laugh out loud.  😄

I am convinced everyone on this thread would be delightful company.

We all have a common interest in cruising and have caring nature's and a meet up in the DL/CL or SL would be very enjoyable imo.

Spot on my friend...well said.  🙂   And hope your eye continues to heal quickly.

Great news indeed 😁 And Remdesivir is one of the few meds that actual work from what I've been reading. The last POTUS was given it when hospitalized at Walter Reed.

When will you receive your Covid results? Are you feeling better?

I was talking to a neighbour who I thought was quite sensible.  Was completely anti-mask and then pointed out our death rate since we have had the vaccine.

It is true that Covid has been savage in our elderly care settings.  We have clearly had the London variant and over Christmas and the New Year we have had a terrible loss of life.  The vaccine programme also started.

To assume that the deaths have been caused by the vaccines is in my scientific brain nonsense.   Clearly we don’t all think the same way.

BTW I had a complete non-reaction to my second vaccine last week.  Everyone else in my team suffered.  I have ended up worrying that I was accidentally given saline solution.  Apparently the reaction is your body learning to respond to the virus.  So in a way I wish you a horrid reaction.  I would feel more confident if I had had one:)

Both Bucky and I had a very sore arm for three days...and I had a light headache the first day following the first shot (Moderna).  My sister had flu like symptoms for both first and second shot (Pfizer).  Started wondering if Pfizer, being slightly more effective would cause more reactions?  Just a WAG on that.

I am like you...would be more worried if I had no reaction.  But no one wants the serious ones either.

Year 2000

My fond memories of Gibraltar -- we were based in Malaga. Travelled to Seville, Granada, Cordoba -- following my father's path, who visited those places before WW2... He spoke "Castellano" Spanish and was very enthusiast about Spain.

Another day was dedicated to the Rock of Gibraltar. Of course we waited on the road so that a British Airways plane could land, exactly as was written in our guide book.

In the city, after visiting the Rock and "interacting" with the cheeky monkeys, I was pleasantly surprised to find my favorite British store -- M&S.

And quite a few of Orthodox Jews - I was not aware that even in such a small place there is a Jewish community.

Hi

Well speaking of names I'll offer mine.

My  name is Sue, and I am addicted to Cruise Critic.

My thread name became into existence when I married my husband.

His last name is Lion so that day I became a lioness, and since my first name is Sue that is where

the 3 s's came in, and my picture, well I like cats.

Ok now that that is out of the way.

Today did not turn out how I expected.

After my morning routine on CC I put on my coat, boots hat gloves scarf and walked down to the mailbox to get the paper. Our mailbox is on the street about 200 yards away.

Well even through the scarf I noticed some unusual sensitivity on my one lower tooth, it kinda hurt a little (On a scale of 1-10 probably a 3).

So I called our dentist and he was in the office and told me to come in at noon, he had a cancellation.

So, I left my safe bubble of the homestead and went to my appointment.

Thinking oh no another cavity, more fillings.

Well, to my surprise, my tooth was completely cracked demolished all the way through the root.

He goes, we could try a root canal, and it may last a year or two, or better yet just pull it, and then you will need bone grafts and implants in a year.

I go well, if that is what it is I do not want to go through  a root canal, pull it.

So, after 4 injections of local anesthesia, of course now that he is playing with it pain is now an 8. (the painless wand did not work) the tooth was easily removed.

So now I cannot feel half of my face, local still working.

And I have three new friends....Norco for pain and Augmentin for the abscess I did not know I had, and a childs teddy bear ice pak.

So watching TV,

Comfortably numb.

The cat at my side, just wants a treat.

Stay healthy

I'm pretty sure I have darn Covid too.  Last night I started with diarrhea, chills, fever now at 99.4, sore throat and body aches.  Didnt sleep well with lots of toss and turning and trips to bathroom.    Body aches could be due to me shoveling/snow blowing 2 driveways with 2 feet of snow on Tuesday.   Taking tylenol and going to make some tea and toast.  Hopefully I can make to my covid test without needing a bathroom.

I am confident we got this last weekend with all the busy stores and everyone preparing for the nor'Easter.  I bet there was sick people out shopping since their food deliveries couldn't happen due to snow.

Oh noooooooo. Please take care. We are all here for you.

Thanks Dani.

I was delighted that everyone especially yourself have been so caring and gave me their best wishes.

I was thinking we hadn't heard from Crystal@ singinalot and DominoD.

I hope they are both well.

Graham.

Domino had some problems with his dog. It was having seizures and was going to the vet. He was going to keep us posted with results. I hope everything is ok.

You did right getting the tooth out as it sounds like a nasty infection.

My dentist gave me a strong antibiotics course with something similar a couple of years ago.

Hopefully the pain subsides as the infection drains out.

Take care

Graham.
