You were there?  Woodstock was held on my 21st Birthday, August 15th.  Big decision to be made...head up to Woodstock, or down to Manasquan, NJ.  Manasquan won out.  I only knew one friend of mine who did experience Woodstock.  The talent that was there!!!!  The legends!!!!!  Lucky you!!!

Agree.

Nope. Close though. The evening of day two we heard it was a free for all. So morning of day three, three of us headed south heading for Woodstock (Bethel). Took the back roads thru small farm villages. Pulled over. Three long hairs in a van. Profiling? Hmmm. Ends up all three of us were busted for not caring our draft cards. Escorted into the village(?) paid our fines (cash) and asked not to return. It could have been a lot worse. 😉 So we headed back north on fumes. Had to wait and see the movie in spring of 1970. It was released on my 18th birthday.

June of 2020 my wife and I had plans of flying back to NY and on our agenda was take a day and head down to Woodstock (Bethel). Crap, once again close to making it to Woodstock but we all now what happened to most travel plans. Bummer. Maybe Summer of 2022?

I wish I had pictures to prove it. But I had one of those vans, a Ford (as I drummer needed to be able to haul my drums, partial excuse) but I did get it customized by one of those custom guys. It had;

Orange and black shag carpet on the floor and walls

Wood paneled ceiling with airplane lights

Platform bed in back with orange crush velvet covered mattress

Custom speakers through out.

Paint job on the outside was plain as I did not want to draw too much attention.

It was cool back then, like I said I wish I had a picture. Fun times

Our bass player had a van. 1959 dodge panel. Looked more like a delivery truck than a traditional van. And not even close to being as cool as what yours was like. Hand painted Peace signs on each side. ☮️ ☮️ Our band was called "Peace".

Thanks for all the great photos you have posted recently Harry.

Graham.

Hi, Graham,

You are welcome. Glad you liked the photos.  Something to share in these trying times as we can’t always travel to the places we would like to visit.

The trip report will end soon as the last 2 days are somewhat of repeat of previous days so they will be shorter than the previous days ( or at least short by my long-winded standards).

Cheers,

Harry

Day 6 of the trip report – Another early morning trying to get the virtual queue

Group 23 – getting better at this (A little too complacent also…)

Since yesterday was a relaxing non theme park day, we were pretty rested, so we made it downstairs by 7:30 for breakfast.

No crowd at all for breakfast at 7:30 and it’s weekday so less people at the hotel anyway from number of cars in the parking lot.

I might have taken similar pics the previous day, whatever. I think they change the scones every other day as I have seen Chocolate chip ones as well.

Due to covid, individually wrapped bread section.

Today’s new breakfast item. Didn’t seem that spicy to me compared to the Korean lunch from yesterday

Pick a seat, any seat.  The place is pretty empty at 7:30

You folks tired of seeing what I eat daily?  Overall the variety may not be there for the daily breakfast but in the era of Covid, just having something out there for feed people is a challenge so I’m fine with what’s being offered.  I like the clean looking service area.

Of course, one drawback of an early boarding group is you are called before 9 AM so making haste to the park

Official Disneyland policy as of August 2021.  Of course, as with all things Covid, policy changes daily/weekly/monthly…

Our last day at CA Adventure.  Try to capture the moment of the Plaza area without crowd at 9 AM

Disney spends a lot of time/effort in all the pre ride shows to try and tell a story

20210812_094315.thumb.jpg.f66356ecef72af444e2477547c095fdf.jpg

When it was almost time for us to get to the front here, the ride vehicle’s door won’t close and the whole boarding stopped dead on its tracks.  They tried to tinker it for few minutes but couldn’t make it work so they just took that one out of service and the ride started back up again.

The seating is up to 4 people can be seated.  Our car got 865,100 points, which put us on the top 10 list for the hour and for the day. Yeah.  Good to have younger kids with quick reflexes.

Next is Soarin.  That was the last E-ticket ride over at CA Adventure we didn’t get to on day 4. Time to stand in line with my newly met BFFs…

At least the second half of the wait queue was indoors

This is a very cool ride.  Your mind is tricked into thinking you are actually hang gliding in an IMAX style theater. We got lucky in getting Row 1, the highest row so we don’t have to see people’s dangling feet above us. If you are only going to ride this once, ask the CM to put you at the highest row.

The original ride when CA Adventure opened was called “Soaring over California” with the scenery of various diverse CA geography.  The ride was so popular that they upgraded to Soaring over the World years later. Part of the ride is pure Disney magic in that at the point where you are flying over Orange tree, they pipe in artificial orange smell.

Time for another water ride to cool off from the hot sun

20210812_111627.thumb.jpg.ffe3a1bdac4adfb993633af8fef0635f.jpg

Then off for another ride at Cars Land with Radiator Springs.  Similar to Day 4.  Great to be able to ride these big name rides more than once during our visit.

After that, it was time to have lunch at our favorite cafe. Very empty around lunch time even though it has AC.  Best kept secret in the park for quiet cool lunch

Today would be warmest day of our trip at 91 degrees. Certainly admire the ability of these CM to be able to dress up in these outfit in the heat.

Of course, there’s the sorry guests that has to be in the 90+ degree heat waiting for the show to start

After the show, ducked inside the AC gift shops for few minutes.

How much do you love your kids/grandkids?  Like $130 worth of Lego set?  Don’t think so. Hey, kid, how about if Grandma giving you a $10 t-shirt instead...

Since there is no "sorry", or "sad" button, it was decided on this thread to use

Oh, some of those sets can get really expensive. This is the one my grandson here in PA just finished putting together.

We bought so many for our California grandson, when he was here this summer, we had to pack an extra suitcase to get them back home with him.

I lucked out.  The draft for the Vietnam War ended the year before I graduated from High School.

Dani, I have no idea. I just remember being told when I received my draft card with my selective service classification of Class 1-S and registration number (26), I was to carry it at all times or if I destroyed it (burning) I would be arrested. The real bummer was when I graduated from high school my classification changed to Class1-A!

We finally made it back home yesterday.  Worse traffic we encountered was entering Dallas.  Why am I not surprised?

Seeing the kids was wonderful but it really is good to be back home.

Hope you all have a mahhhhvelous week-end, with safe travels to those...traveling.

LOL...I hear ya' there!!  If you notice, all my pictures have been with me absent.  😉  Ditto to hating having my picture taken.  I am the "mystery girl".  😄

That's the pits your ex has your dog tags! 😠  Curiosity just rose..so I just asked Bucky if he had his dog tags.  He said he still has one...somewhere...but no idea where.  😉  I know he has his purple heart, since I saw it many years ago...but no idea where that thing ended up either.

We are still in Arkansas right now.  The hardest part of any of our trips is the country roads.  It takes us 1 to 2 hours to get to a main Highway from our house.  Also limited cell phone service.  We plan to spend tonight North of Indianapolis. The girls have figured out the roads we are traveling.  I believe we will travel to north Indiana before cutting over to Marblehead.

We just crossed into Missouri!

……Connected again , trying to post again.
