Rare rafinmd Posted January 9, 2021 #327 Share Posted January 9, 2021 I think I'll double post today. 3 years ago I was on Crystal's 2-line world cruise and docked in Cartagena directly across from the Westerdam. There was some interesting holiday artwork on the side of the ship right above the name. I did not take a tour but walked into the terminal. On the way back I got this shot: Roy

MTAK Posted January 10, 2021 #334 Share Posted January 10, 2021 January 10, 2020, HMC was supposed to be our last stop before returning to FLL.. However as typical for this trip, things went awry, and it turns out we were unable to tender due to rough seas. Getting the SBP for this trip turned out to be a very wise decision! So other than disembarking in FLL, that's it for the memories of this trip. Despite all the troubles, I'd feel very fortunate to be able to do it again. Hoping for 2022!
iflyrc5 Posted January 10, 2021 #335 Share Posted January 10, 2021 A year ago today was the 5th day of our 2020 Grand South America Adventure on the Volendam. We approached the first lock of the Panama Canal about 6:45AM. This was our 3rd time through the canal. Today was not as hot and humid as when we had gone through in the past. The cruise ships and smaller ships go through the old original lock system. We exited on the Pacific side and then anchored at the port of Fuerte Amador, Panama (Panama City) for an overnight stay.

Such has been a traditional HAL addition to their ships during the holidays. The Amsterdam would have a lighted display between the two funnels. Others would have a lighted display on their upper decks or around the funnel. A holiday design--a large snowman is one I recall--would be painted on the hull near the hatch used for tender use. HAL's decor celebrated the holidays well. With each ship, being just a bit different than her sisters, but with some specific consistency, i.e. that entertaining Christmas morning program with the arrival of Santa.

ger_77 Posted January 11, 2021 #338 Share Posted January 11, 2021 Four years ago we were in Tampa for an overnight before our last minute cruise for 2 weeks in the Eastern/Southern Caribbean. Had an email of the cruise on Monday and booked it; Tuesday had haircuts and mani/pedis; Wednesday we flew to Tampa and Friday we sailed. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat? DH would agree, because all he does is carry the luggage. LOL This was the view from the hotel bar where we enjoyed dinner and drinks the night before boarding the Oosterdam. Smooth Sailing! 🙂🙂🙂

rkacruiser Posted January 15, 2021 #347 Share Posted January 15, 2021 Tonight, I was anticipating to embark the Eurodam on the 15th for her 11 day partial Panama Cruise. Cruising a somewhat different itinerary and being able to cruise with very good friends from Toronto increased my anticipation. Being aboard the Good Ship Eurodam once again surely was something for which I anticipated as well.

whogo Posted January 15, 2021 #350 Share Posted January 15, 2021 We visited Castro, on the Chilean island of Chiloé one long, long year ago. I took a DIY pedestrian tour of the town. The wooden churches of Chiloé are a Unesco World Heritage site. I visited the galvanized steel covered Church of San Francisco on the town square. I viewed the palafitos (stilt houses) from afar. Steep hill, I get a kick out of Latin American utility lines.
