I was hoping your typo meant you are sailing on August 14…because we are too!!!  It will be our first cruise since February 2020.  We are regulars on Celebrity…and the Solstice Class was always our favorite.  When we read about Edge we thought in disgust…what a monstrosity!  That awkward prow!!  That jarring blue!!  That tacky orange appendage!!  All the Hoppen hype!!  Too gimmicky and flashy by half.  No beloved Sky Lounge!  No shade at our beloved Sunset Bar!!!

Well, then some friends got a great Interline rate on Edge that was available to friends.  We met these friends on an X cruise and really enjoy sailing with them. So, OK, we’d grudgingly sail on Edge.

Well.  We LOVED Edge!!  Absolutely LOVED her.  Stunningly beautiful ship.  Everywhere you looked was something different, new, quirky in the best sense.  Edge blew us away.  We’re in the minority of loving the infinite verandas.  A king size bed!!  Those bathrooms!!  The 4 MDR concept!!  The food!!!  Mr. Edge!!!  And she sails out of Ft. Lauderdale instead of Miami!

So we’re really excited not only to finally set foot on a ship again, but to set foot on our favorite.  And now you’ll do a wonderful review and I’ll have that to enjoy as well!!!

(Just let’s not do the bomb scare at the airport again, please.)

Hope to see you on board!

Just want to let you know that you can use some of the non-refundable ship OBC in the casino if you wish. The cashier will give you special chips that you cannot cash out, only play with. Any winnings will be given to you in regular chips which you then can cash out.

Here's an interesting set of statistics on the Celebrity site regarding the first three August cruises and their currently available S1/S2 cabins with their starting prices which include the 10% CC discount applied. I wonder why the Aug 14th cruise is so much more popular than the other two?

Aug 7-14 cruise: 27 cabins available starting at $2,815 pp (with perks).

Aug 14-21 cruise: Guarantee Only S1/2 cabins available at $2,639 (no perks)

Aug 21-28 cruise: 59 cabins available starting at $2,743 pp (with perks)

Interesting.  Obviously pricing, but with no perks, I think I'd rather take one of the other cruises with perks, given the small delta among all of them.

Just did a quick "look see" on Celebrity's site.  There are no Sky Suites left on the 8/14 cruise.  Just on Retreat Suite left, and it's a Celebrity Suite.  Suite price is $6,500.  Quite a bit higher than my S2.  But, it's a much bigger Suite, too.

Thanks.  I came back with money in my wallet from the Casino on the last cruise. They'll be chomping at the bit to get that money back, I'm certain.

Hey, I was telling my husband that you were going to be on our August 14 sailing…and I started to remind him who you were as I had told him bits from your previous Edge cruise.  My husband (who listens to every 10th word I say) said “Isn’t he the guy who was with the hookers?”  I said “Well, he was on the same sailing as the hookers…” 😜

Yeah…I messed up the tittle.  I’ve requested for it to be corrected.  The sailing is INDEED 8/14-8/21.  Sorry for the confusion.

I only asked bc I am going to be on the 21st! LOL

On 8/7, the SS Guarantee (no perks) is $2,589 pp and on the 8/21 the SS Guarantee is $2,409 pp; both cheaper than the middle leg at $2,639 pp. No big deal, I just thought it was interesting. 😎

Maybe because the 8/7 and 8/21 legs are for the Western Caribbean route as opposed to the 8/14, which is doing the Eastern Caribbean route?

Hope to meet you!  My DH and I will be on the ship. We are flying out of Louisville.
I think we will have a great time!

That's great.  I am coming from the other side of the OH River.  Looks like we'll have some local representation.  Look forward to it.

Last time I was on the MAGIC CARPET for sail away.  I'll probably be the only forlorn looking old single guy sitting there.  So, relatively easy to spot.

Made this purchase today at Best Buy.  Best $50 I've ever spent on anything audio related.  Sounds great.  Use this while taking a shower or sitting on the balcony to stream a little Frank Sinatra or Diana Krall.

Nope.  Wonder what changed on yours?  Are they doing things differently on your 2nd leg of the B2B?

Thought so. Some guy claimed he was on it & there was…🙄
8 cases this week; 5 yesterday.

Now all passengers must be tested…decided yesterday eve.

Crew back to masks.

Things r a cluster outside.

That's what I read in another thread.

There were no announcements ever made on our sailing regarding any positive COVID passengers and/or Crew.  Plus, aside from a few brief hours in Costa Maya and Nassau, I was always on the ship.  So, doubt I missed anything.

Sounds crazy. Hope they get it all sorted out so you and Danny can get back to enjoying yourselves.  Keep us posted.

Ear buds would be a better choice on the balcony, as neighbours wouldn't have to listen to your choice of music. I'm sure that you have an impeccable playlist, but others may not take the same enjoyment from it that you do. Beware the battle of the boom-boxes! 😇

Things got a bit discombobulated in embarking and disembarking on last week’s and this week’s Celebrity sailings regarding COVID testing.

Those who haven’t seen what they’re requiring for the foreseeable future regarding testing, they sent me this for the upcoming EDGE August 14th sailing, FYI…….

ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING TRAVELS

Dear Guest,

We look forward to welcoming you aboard Celebrity Edge® for your 7-NightCaribbean sailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Before we depart, we have some important information to share regarding our Health and Safety Protocols.Celebrity Cruises has been working closely with health and government authorities, in each country we sail from, to outline a clear path for cruising with new health and safety measures. As we return to service, we are continuously evaluating all requirements from local government and health officials. Out of an abundance of caution, Celebrity Cruises will be enhancing COVID-19 testing requirements for both vaccinated and unvaccinated guests.

All guests over the age two, regardless of vaccination status, will now be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result at the time of embarkation. This test may be taken as either a PCR test or an Antigen test, conducted within 72 hours of embarkation. Each guest is responsible for making their own arrangements with an accredited testing provider as well as all associated costs.

Unvaccinated guests and children, under 12 years of age, will be required to take an additional antigen test at the terminal prior to embarkation, mid-cruise and on the day before disembarkation. A registration link for required testing will be sent separately.

Should a guest be unable to complete the testing requirements, a 100% refund or Future Cruise Credit will be offered. Additional testing and protocols will be confirmed closer to your sailing departure date in line with the most up to date recommendations from local government and health officials as well as our Healthy Sail Panel. These measures, including vaccination and testing requirements, will evolve along with public health standards.

Celebrity Edge will sail with a vaccinated crew, and at least 95% of guests fully vaccinated. Guests 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated with all COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at least 14 days prior to sailing.  Guests who decline or are unable to show proof of vaccination at boarding will be treated as unvaccinated and subject to additional protocols, restrictions, and costs for COVID-19 testing. For details on our current health and safety protocols please visit  https://www.healthyatsea.com. We’re sailing with fewer guests for more space – and more luxury with even more activities to avoid large gatherings in public spaces.

We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause. We're confident they will deliver a more satisfying vacation experience. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Celebrity Cruises at 1-844-418-6824in North America or (316) 554-5961 worldwide.

The letters sent out said refund or FCC.

The website says "Should a guest be unable to complete the testing requirements, a Future Cruise Credit will be offered."

I guess one interpretation of the letter would be that either a refund or FCC will be offered at Celebrity's discretion.  I'm sure most would interpret it as the customers choice.

Typical inconsistent communication from them.  Want to bet someone who's uncomfortable sailing now will just not get a test and claim a refund.   From the letter you and I received I would expect that to be honored but I'm sure they will only get a FCC good until 9/30/2022.
