Now doesn't that make perfect sense, put them up above us so the virus can filter down on us! HA Wouldn't it make more sense to put Vaxd up above since chance of us having it are almost nil?

DeanD Posted August 9, 2021 #59 Share Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) First and foremost, have a great cruise and I know we all appreciate your offer to gather and pass on information. As such, anything I mention is with the understanding that you're on vacation so no worries if it doesn’t work out. We will be B2B in a couple of weeks on the Allure. It's our first time on an Oasis class ship with 6 cancelations in a row with 4 of the 6 being due to NON Covid reasons and non by our hand. We are fully vaccinated and it’s just the 2 of us. My main questions center around the shows and dining. Specifically how and when were you able to make show reservations? We are contemplating the all inclusive specialty dining package for the 2nd week and wondering how this might work out from a reservation standpoint. If we do it I’m hoping we can do a specialty restaurant for lunch on transition day and get in to all the best options at least once in the 6-7 pm time frame during the week. If you get a chance and it’s convenient to ask anyone who might know and then post it, I’d be eternally grateful. I understand the information and process might change, just looking for the best info possible at this juncture. My last thought would be that we’re in a Junior Suite so any information on getting into Coastal Kitchen in that situation. I'm assuming the unvaxed are in the upper level since there would be less of them than the vaxed passengers especially with the social distancing seating. You make a good point though...lol. g8rchick Posted August 9, 2021 Author #62 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I wrote up something about our first day and it didn't looks like it didn't post! Ugh! I'll try recap quickly. 1700 people onboard. Feels very empty in a good way. Staff very happy to have passengers and we brought our cabin attendant a care package of toiletries and he was SO moved. Highly recommend doing so if you can. Masks need to be worn in general spaces though it is so worth it to have a ship to yourself like this! Activities seems a little more limited than usually but I noticed they just added more to the planner so we'll see how the week progresses. We weren't able to book entertainment for this cruise pre-cruise and it seems to all be taken now so heads up to get on that. Casino was awesome on first night, no wait for tables. 6
cindivan Posted August 9, 2021 #63 Share Posted August 9, 2021 (edited) Thanks for taking the time to give us all the info. Really appreciate it!! This cruise is vaxxed for everyone 12+ right? It seems like a large amount of unvaxxed venues to accommodate only the 11 and under group. Or am I understanding that incorrectly? Are there a lot of kids that look 11 and under on board? I'm guessing the Coastal Kitchen is for everyone (in a suite that is) so masks required? I guess they have to allow for kids in suites. No masks required in casino? My husband will be so excited. Wow - 1700!! People ask me why I would cruise if I have to mask. Once I tell them my reasons they say that makes a lot of sense. 1. Masking will be minimal and worth the hassle to have such low capacity! 2. What other public can I be in such a highly vaxxed percentage of people and where they had to test negative at least at the beginning? Pretty safe environment. philps Posted August 9, 2021 #64 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I heard from staff that people where not allowed to board due to the fact they got their covid test more than 3 days before cruise. 3

There are the fewest kids I've ever seen on a cruise even going by percentage of passengers. I do think it's extremely odd they didn't change more of the venues to vaccinated once the rules changed for everyone over 12 but I imagine it's due to it changing only four or five days before our sailing? They are even still checking for the vaccinated bracelet when you walk into those venues which I don't understand. Maybe just for training? Casino is no masks. I'm not in a suite so I can't answer suite questions but if anyone wants to call royal and get me upgraded to one I'd be happy to give you a full play by play 🤣😉 4

That's exactly my thinking right now. With the Sept. 5 sailing of Oasis of the Seas being the return-to-service sailing and with masks now being required in most places, we were leaning toward cancelling and awaiting better conditions. Then I saw mention about reduced capacity in another thread here. It made me think of times I went to Disneyland or even Dollywood when they closed down the part just for us ~5,000 attendees of a computer conference. It was such a blast going through there, enjoying the rides, and not having throngs of people bumping into you all the time. For that reason, I'm far more interested in going on this sailing now, even if I have to wear a mask indoors at times.

I'm sorry if I double.post, I feel like my responses keep disappearing. For our sailing we were not about to book entertainment until onboard but once onboard, yes through the app. In fact a lot of things are through the app now, including the dining menus. It's come a long way since we last sailed. They also are charging $1.99 a day to message through the app which was free last time we sailed. Yes to whomever asked about the show, it's Mama Mia. They gave us Vax bracelets AND separate tracelets we are supposed to wear all the time. All buffets are manned. Trying to think of any other little things to share...oh 8 people max at a dinner table. I wrote that before but I think it was in my post that didn't go through? Or I've taken advantage of my beverage package too much at this point to remember lol 5
