Shows every night as well as several parties including the 70's party.

Please let this show die... 1970 was 51 years ago.  This is a new ship.   Why not new and original entertainment?  The lack of originality and creativity in RC is shameful.

Many cruisers grew up in the 70s — the party is apropos.  A mixture of old and new and in between makes for good variety, IMHO.

Yes...you can make them on the app once aboard.

I was on the Oasis a week ago, looks like getting reservations is a 'safety net" just to be sure the person whether they're over or under 12 is going to be sitting where they're supposed to be sitting. A good idea on Royal's part while not getting people upset. The non vax children with their parents were on deck five in the Theatre, although we noticed very very few people.

Bummer.

Doesn't look like any of the in service ships are having that event from what everyone is saying..My answer from an officer was that maybe the Oasis will have it when it arrives in Florida, but now everyone knows even the Florida sailings aren't having it. Just another sign of the times and trying to be careful.

70's night would be good if they realized the 70's wasn't all disco 👎. I know you will agree with me that there was a lot of other excellent music in the 70's they could be playing.

There is no new in 1970.  The show can move up a decade to 1980 and cover a wider range of old, new and in between.

The target market for RC are adults 24 -51.  The 1970 show doesn't even reach the average age of their this market.

I'm sure the target market has changed much since this publication.

True there is a lot of 70s music they could be playing, however they want people to dance so they play 70s music that people can dance to.  I know it's not the best of the 70s but it's danceable music.

I'll agree.  There is definitely other music from the 70s outside of disco that is enjoyable.  I don't dislike the 1970s.  I just think the show is tired and needs a refresh.

Every ship doesn't need to have the exact same entertainment.  Odyssey is a brand new ship.  Why not change the entertainment and have an 80s show?   Will the Wonder of the Seas also be stuck in the 1970s?

I was referring to old and new music not new 70s.  They could have 70s, 80s, and 90s on a 7+ night cruise, plus cater to the supposedly target market as well.

Agree. There's a lot of great music from different decades and genres that would make a great music night. With my luck the cruise I would be on the activity staff would pick disco for that cruise.🤢😂

I can think of a lot of party dance songs from the 70's and even the 60's and 50's. But all of this is way above my paygrade. We're just along for the ride and enjoyment of the whole cruise experience. Gives us a good excuse to turn in early on the current 70's night.😉

I just came off an 8 night Odyssey sailing. Embarkation and debarkation was an absolute breeze as we were sailing with ONLY just over 1000 passengers. From parking lot to cabin in 20 minutes. The ship was absolutely gorgeous and immaculate....crew is cleaning all the time. Protocols are in place and weren't a bother...felt VERY safe at all times. Crew is Wonderfull ...you are sailing on a ship with more crew than passengers. They couldn't do more for you....very friendly and so happy to be sailing. No waits for anything and everything on the ship up and running. Shows every night as well as several parties including the 70's party. Elevators were mostly always empty....think I can count on one hand how many times I shared an elevator with anyone. Masks were worn indoors walking around but could take them off at many venues once inside...including the casino...they became second nature and weren't a bother at all. It was like being on an exclusive sailing that will spoil the heck out of you. This was my second sailing since restart as I was also on the very first Edge sailing out. I couldn't recommend cruising more right now...just an excellent experience that will be fondly remembered when cruising is back to full capacity. So if you have been holding back because of current testing protocols and masks......think gain....it is so worth cruising right now!!!

What ports?  And what were things like at them?

Nassau, Aruba and Curacao

Nassau on Sunday was a ghost town downtown..almost nothing open. Spent the day at the British Colonial Hilton....had a fantastic day on the beach and using their pool.

Aruba...was a long port stop...rented a room at the Hilton Caribbean Beach resort for the day and had yet another fantastic day using the property..both beach and pools.

Curacao ...we rented a car and drove around the island making a couple beach stops at Casa Abao and Porto Mari...had great day...restaurant and bar at Casa Abao was closed but the one at Porto Mari was fully open and beach was busy.

People had a great time dancing and some just watching....always enjoy the 70's party. They have changed it to the 80's party on some ships.

I think they should change it to an 80's party 🙂

The Symphony of the Seas has an 80s party and it was great.  Saw it on one of the last cruises in Feb. 2020 before shutdown.  However, the 90's party on the Harmony is awful.  There is no such thing as good 90's music... I'd rather stick with 70's disco.

Ditto.  Well said.  We cruised the Odyssey in August and felt the exact same way.  For those who are vaccinated and do not mind the stress of jumping though hoops to get a negative COVID test prior to sailing, sailing now is glorious.
