My take was that it was for each mariner that books within the 90 day window.  I could be wrong.

Just finished watching the video and I am sure that they said per stateroom.

Taking a look at the updated pdf of mariner benefits it says up to $400 per person.

https://www.hollandamerica.com/content/dam/hal/marketing-assets/PDFs/HAL-Mariner-Society-Grid-Updates.pdf

that makes it more confusing 🤔

I think someone posted earlier that they called and IT was being notified?

You would think that they had enough time to get their ducks in a row and roll it out correctly.

You would indeed 😉 Sadly their IT is incompetent IMO so the message might have been right but what was put on might be wrong.

Ours came through, without requesting it.  The booking was made on September 24, 2021, for an Alaska cruise, 2023.  The confirmation shows $175 pp OBC added.

It's a signature suite.  So it's broken down per person for the total of $350.

Nice surprise.  Not sure what happens with a single.

$100 solo verandah

IMHO I would blame this on HAL leadership.  The IT department posted what was approved by leadership.

I’m curious, what does Princess give you?  I’m elite with them and I can’t think of anything but it could be just poor memory.

600 minutes of free internet for starters. . .for elite, liquor (or wine) set up in the room at the start of each cruise (or segment), hors d'oevres in your cabin every gala night--point is, they are actually giving you something without expecting you to buy anything in return--and this is for all categories of cabin bookings--what you get is based on your level.

What I read was the Mariner Society benefit was per stateroom.  That's what all of have been as I recall.

I was shocked to even see  an e-mail in my inbox from the Mariner Society or from HAL about this benefit!

Personally, the "benefit" isn't going to make me call my travel agent today.  But, it's good to know that this is available.

You know...I don't at all want to sound argumentative with my comments here, but RKA, you seriously need to get back onboard to see what they have been busy with.

Thank you for your comments.  I have respected your views in the past and will continue to do so.

I have no doubt that the "suits" have been been giving management directives to the Officers on the ships to provide the best cruise experience possible.  Reports seem to indicate that in most areas that has been accomplished.

Yet, I detect in the posts of those who have sailed a subtle "not is yet at the Signature of Excellence" level that I expect.  Due to Covid?  Yes.  Due to certain executives whose tenure in their job remains?  Yes.

You mentioned in your post of praise for "strong leadership".  I have not seen that as a prospective returning cruiser.  I have seen a new President who may be still looking for the men's room in HQ.  There have been, in my opinion, an excessive number of retirements and resignations from Holland America Line,  of senior executives that have resulted in a dilution of the "Signature of Excellence" cruise experience that I ought to experience consistently.

Have the "suits" been able to get two different cruise seasons underway successfully on two vessels?  Yes, it does appear to have been done.  Thankfully.

I would like to do so.

Having to wear a mask and having breathing issues including asthma and some mobility issues....would your recommendation be in my best interest at this time?

Princess website no longer mentions any free Wi-Fi for elite. There’s a 50% off medallion net package starting at platinum level. This appears to be as of July 2021. The other stuff still seems to be there though.

Thanks for the thoughtful response.  Not saying things are perfect, just as perfect as they can probably be right now.  (Just you watch me go all in with the criticism when we are in normal times and "Signature of Excellence" isn't happening.)

It probably isn't the right time for you yet, given your health issues, but hold a good thought and stay positive so those ships are there waiting for you when you are ready.  It probably won't be too long.  All the "greens" on the ships right now, especially when nearing completion of the Alaska season, do give one hope.

All best wishes for you.  It'll be great to hear your report when you do get onboard again. 😊

Exactly ... nearly 2 years away.  If ever Holland America is looking for a spokesperson, I would suggest they look into hiring Jerry Seinfeld as most of their major announcements lately have been about "nothing" 🙂

The timing - 2023 - suggested to me that by then HAL believes it will be making some money and operating in the black. I do appreciate the heads up from HAL about the promo, and as someone else posted, it was a nice surprise to get an email with a Mariner Society benefit.

They actually cut out the free Internet a few months back.  The hors d’oevres are not good and pretty cheap, at least they have been in the past.  You got me on the liquor set up, which is worth very little.

For information about our stateroom categories and suite descriptions, to view deck plans and for full terms and conditions applicable to your cruise, please refer to hollandamerica.com or the appropriate Holland America Line brochure.

Solos only get half of the stateroom amount.  Hardly seems fair when they're paying 200% of the fare...

You know, my point is that at least they're giving us something "for free" without requiring us to put out our own money, THEN maybe get a benefit.  I had not heard about Princess' cutting out free internet for Elite.  Darn them.

Well, I just spoke with Princess for my own edification and sure enough, they are not giving "free" internet to elite cruisers; they are giving 50% off the $9.99 daily rate they charge--one rate for internet that accesses everything for one device, $19.99 daily for up to four devices.  In case anyone else is curious.

Well, I made a big blunder in my prior post.  I couldn't figure out why ours was a  different amount.  Duh....I looked back at the original booking and there was already $75 there, so they added to that.  Now it makes sense to me.  Yes....$100 pp for our 14-day cruise.

A lot can happen between now and 2023, though.

Yes, I understand.  I think the Internet was the biggie.  It’s disappointing for sure.

Did you think I was kidding 😛😀?  There was a thread on the Princess board about it somewhat recently.  I’m disappointed with the comeback of hal and the cheapening of the product since they’ve restarted.  I’m definitely thinking about Princess and celebrity for future cruises so I’ve been reading those boards on occasion.
