~2700 was also reported on another site along with the Captain reporting after testing the crew there are 0 positive cases on board for them (as of 1/25).  Curious to see how that holds out after all of the speculation and predictions from the Charter Cruise thread...

Looks the cruise this week has been great!

Was wondering where all the news was on that cruise.  Many thought that trip was the demise of cruising lol.  I'm sure it was because of....oh, wait...

Busy day today!

We pre-ordered breakfast room service last night to arrive 6-6:30am and at 5:50, the phone rang letting us know our order was on the way.

We had coffee on the balcony while watching the ship dock in Cozumel right before sunrise.

At 7, we made our way to the Royal Theater to meet for our Tulum Ruins and Mayan Cenote tour.

At around 7:30, we disembarked (no food allowed off the ship) and walked to the ferry to take us to Playa del Carmen. The ferry ride was about 45 min and they offered water / chocolate (Snickers bars) and chips for sale on the boat.

We then met our tour guide and walked 10 min through Playa del Carmen to our tour bus. As we boarded they gave us a granola bar and ham and cheese sandwich for the day. The bus was comfortable and not full and the ride took about an hour to get to the ruins. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and talked about the history of the Quintana Roo state and Yucatán Peninsula on the way there.

Once we arrived and parked the bus, we had to walk through a pretty big touristy area with shops, restaurants etc to get to the actual entrance to the ruins.

It was pretty hot with not too much shade and lots and lots of walking. After 2 hours, we were ready to go for a swim in a nice cold cenote.

We boarded the bus for the quick 20 minute drive to the cenotes. We swam in one open cenote and one that was in a cave that was completely dark and you needed a flashlight.

The trip back was uneventful and they had beer and cocktails for sale on the ferry ride back to Cozumel.

Before heading to dinner, we watched the Celebrity Apex sail away from our balcony.

Another good dinner at MDR: Seafood cake, arugula salad, Caesar salad, Pan seared sole, beef short ribs, chicken Parmesan, saffron risotto (menu change - no mushroom risotto), side of vegetables, Mississippi mud pie, creme brûlée, chocolate custard and cheese plate.

We were too exhausted to see the Adult comedy show at 9… but yay a stingray!

It's warmer in Anchorage Alaska this morning than it is in north Tampa.

I pointed that to my DH because I really want to go to Alaska and he’s afraid he’ll be too cold! 😱 I have no idea how he managed to live in NY and CT before we moved to FL. 🤔😂

I agree, I grew up in Upstate NY and have no desire to do Alaska! We have lived in Florida the past 10 years and we don't want to see snow.

Misleading. Several people have posted that they've tested positive since getting home, with several other people getting exposure notifications.

That un-newsworthy cruise is history.  Fortunately (for most), nothing to report.

Was going to say that it certainly wasn't as misleading as many of those "Oh my God, this is the worst thing ever! Cruising is coming to an end!" posts we saw in that thread.

I am so happy nothing newsworthy came from it!  Glad that the crowded outdoor spaces didn’t lead to a giant uptick in cases 🙂

There were also Twitter posts among those on that sailing - where people said they shouldn't report if they felt sick, so they wouldn't get quarantined.  I'm sure that happens on other sailings, too - but this was nearly a full ship with many connected on Twitter and Instagram.

Roatan was amazing!!!!

We got up bright and early and had a sunrise breakfast in Windjammer.

Then we watched our arrival to Roatan from our balcony.

We had booked a private snorkeling tour from Roatan Five Stars Tours based on reviews we read on Trip Advisor. We disembarked around 9:30am and walked through the Royal Caribbean cruise port and out the gate to meet our tour guide. It was a bit chaotic - lots of people greeting us and calling us to book tours, but we saw our tour sign and met up with our driver with no issues.

We drove for about 30 minutes to the tour center and met our guide, Louis and our boat captain. We loaded up and set off for our first stop - to see starfish! The water was so clear and not too cold. Our guide packed pineapple juice and sliced fresh watermelon for us to snack on. After the starfish we went to the Blue Channel drop off and saw so many colorful fish and corals. Our last stop was a shipwreck where the water was shallow and we had to follow our guide to find our way through the coral reef. It was really good! Also, we were the only ones there so everything was pristine. Loved it! Highly recommend this tour group for the incredible service and memorable experience.

After we returned to port we stopped for some drinks. I ordered Island Watermelon - we were all cracking up when it arrived at our table!

We returned to the ship around 2pm, had a snack at El Loco Fresh and took a ride down the Ultimate Abyss - fun and not too scary! The platform that you stand on before you get on the slide is see through, so that made me a bit nervous.

We made reservations at Chops for dinner so we were able to be on our balcony for sunset sail away, which was great.

At Chops we had crab cake, black pepper bacon, wedge salad, filet, spicy shrimp, baked potato, gruyere tater tots (really good!), grilled asparagus (also really good), and key lime pie. We were stuffed!

We capped off the day with the incredible Aqua 80 show. I had no idea what to expect and wow they did a great job. We thought it was great!

Costa Maya tomorrow!

I’d be fine with the snow I might see on a cruise to Alaska. Wouldn’t have to shovel it, drive through it , or even have to put up with it for very long. 😀

Traveling back to CT, NOPE! Not happening! Moving back there, also NOPE!  I’m not even looking for the cold 🥶 weather we’re expecting here this weekend. Our neighbors are visiting family in San Juan, PR this week. I keep telling them they certainly picked the right week to go there! 🏝

After our incredible day in Roatan yesterday, we were sure that would be the highlight of our trip - but we were wrong because Costa Maya was even better!!!

We docked around 8am right alongside Carnival Pride and had to hustle to get off the ship for our semi-private excursion. We booked through Chak Ek Costa Maya to visit the 7 colors lagoon in Bacalar https://www.chacekcostamaya.mx/tours/bacalar-7-colors-lagoon-excursion

2C516BE8-4028-4A5D-814E-E07CBCC84AAD.thumb.jpeg.d796dfd40c0127f86895869fe44a0577.jpeg9E676C27-034D-4695-BB18-038BE3F2B189.thumb.jpeg.3a41d54cc0f03a8a6518661d054d3a5d.jpeg

We met up with our tour guide outside the gates and drove about 90 minutes with 2 other (very nice!) couples from the Carnival ship to the Xcabal resort in Bacalar to board our boat. The boat ride was absolutely exquisite and the lagoon was so beautiful. Our guides offered us beverages, delicious fresh pineapple, mango and star fruit, and chips, nuts, cookies. And tequila and cervezas too!

We swam in the crystal clear lagoon before heading to El Taco Loco for lunch.

From there we headed back to port, which was really busy since Adventure of the Seas had also arrived.

We were back at MDR tonight for lobster night! We had two lobster tails each! We loved it and also had shrimp potato salad, caprese salad, onion tart, molten chocolate cake, and baked Alaska.

Tonight we are going to the Music Hall to see the Humans Live and then Frozen in Time.

Thanks so much for your trip review and all your brilliant photos - it looks amazzzzing!!!

Loved all the food photos and that you also included what the dishes were.

Your tour photos are beautiful and it sounds like you've had a really great trip.

Just a teenzy bit jealous sitting here reading it all from down-under in (Western) Australia.

We're so tightly locked down here it's anyone's guess when we'll be able to get on a ship again.

Enjoy the last days of your cruise - loved reading about your trip!
