I feel fairly confident that the desserts will be sold as upcharge a la carte, just as the Gelato is.

Princess Cruises Enhances Value with Exciting New Offerings to All-Inclusive Princess Plus and Premier Packages

oh ya. People will take notice. Heads will turn, when some of these go floatin' round the dining room in route to their destination.  I can hear the words now.  " Hey waiter I want one of those "

I'm sure some will.  Honestly, those look horrid to me.  A mish-mash of textures and flavors, and way too substantial to order as the last course of a dinner in the MDR.  Who the heck wants a giant pinwheel lollipop with a bowl of ice cream?  Even when they are included in the price, our family averages 1 to 1.5 desserts between the three of us on any given night, and that is for desserts that are one quarter the size of these.

if this is what is to be expected, then the razmataz is meant to be an eye catcher for exhibition. I can see my wife and I splitting one of these.  And people watching with intrigue from afar   😄

To each their own.  The sight of adults sharing a rainbow colored pinwheel lollipop in a dining room would cause me to look away, hard.

But it is at the Gelato station. And I think you only get vanilla or chocolate in the MDR.

I guess it is semantics.  I don't consider the gelato on Deck 5 to be "dessert".  I think of dessert as the last course of a sit-down meal, and for that, gelato, ice cream and sorbet have always been included.  The gelato station on Deck 5 has always been viewed (by us) as a mid-afternoon snack, (and rarely used at that.)  Am I going to eat one of those carnival monstrosities in the middle of the afternoon?  Heck no!

And while I said that we average 1 to 1.5 desserts per night for the three of us, we almost NEVER skip drinking our dessert.  Port. Sambuca. Irish coffee.  Scotch. Always find room for that!

If you order anything the computer will do all the work of knowing whether or not to charge your onboard folio.

the computer won't know anything. I had to go to GS to remove mocktails/soda charges from our folio after our kid with the package ordered them on lido deck. The crew charged them to my husband instead by simply taking the room number instead of actually doing the medallion thing/taking a name with the room number.

the same people who did the same with the crepes last week on Enchanted. They piled ALL the toppings on one poor crepe... Monstrosities, indeed.

Gelato & sorbet have 3-4 flavors every day in MDR for free. I know because I have 1 scoop of each (ex chocolate ..... not a fan of chocolate). Usually vanilla / nut / chocolate gelatos, & a fruit sorbet.  And there's several toppings (butterscotch or caramel, chocolate, a fruit ie: pineapple or strawberry, whip cream). Favorite 2 sorbets are champagne & lemon.

And then we wonder why there are so many "fluffy" Americans and the life expectancy is declining.

The computer does 'do the work'.   In that situation, they didn't have a medallion to work off of, sot they then input the info that they did have, and based on that, the computer charged.  Maybe they should have been on the ball enough to see that the extra child passengers did have the package.   But, based on what was entered, the computer did what it does.

I don't know how they will work the seating.

I don't have a lot of experience, but the way I have seen goes like this.   There is a center front 'premium', or whatever they call it, area.  While everyone can enter the theater, they cannot take those reserved seats unless they show that they have the reservation.  Staff is usually there to handle and direct.  Everyone enters first come first served.  But, this means the reserved guests can enter at the last minute, knowing that they have a premium seat wating.  While other late-comers have to take the seats up in the back, or be turned away.

Hey,  I am okay if other adults have a Premium package and sit there with some gargantuan canival concoction, licking on a giant pin-wheel lollipop!!!!  To each their own.   Why judge.  I won't be 'watching' and opining, however.  No way would I ever want that thing!

Hmm.. have to disagree.  Unless a recent policy change I missed?  The only way to earn the associated OBC from a FCD is to use the FCD as the initial deposit.  After that, it is just a down-payment towards the balance and no benefit accrues.

Agree. FCDs dated after the initial booking date can be applied but bring no OBC benefit. You’d have to cancel the original booking and lose any promotional items associated with it, and re-book under current promotion offerings to get the OBC.

I am a very fluffy American... 😞 But we only get a half a spoon of Nutella on our crepes. 🙂 Pure heaven!

My DH and DS aren't fluffy... Must be me. But my grandpa with untreated diabetes lived to 85+ and dad with untreated diabetes is 74... My other side of the family was skinny and only one of them made it to 75. There are worse things than diabetes. At least most people with type 2 can say that they have enjoyed getting there.

MDR gelato only came in two flavors last week on Enchanted: vanilla and chocolate. One different flavor of sorbet was also offered during dinner. We liked the raspberry flavor. DS very much enjoyed 2 scoops of chocolate gelato during dessert time.

people love to judge. 🙂

when I see an enormous sugary concoction, I usually comment like this: "A diabetic coma coming in 3, 2, 1..." but I always mean it about myself.

Another cutback. Pre the restart, there were always 2 additional flavors that changed each evening.

As I understand it, they still have a flavor other than V and C at lunch in the dining room.

So different than September 2022. 2 scoops sorbet + 1 scoop vanilla then. Still getting my 3.

Just curious, what do you use internet for on a cruise? I use it a lot at home but on a cruise, apart from occasional check of email. I see no purpose. I can always check email in port.

DH and I use it to keep in touch with my MIL's nursing home and the cat sitter.

You are missing out on one of the best parts of eating out, desserts!

Ah, but I am on the literal opposite side of the spectrum. To me the apps are where the experimentation and joy reside. I could (and have) make a whole meal out of a coursed tasting menu of four appetizers.

How about the Medallion App 🙂

The Ruby ones are fine, and pair well with a nice Pinot Noir. The Silver ones have an odd metallic finish and the Blackened ones are fine with an ale, but utterly obliterate the nuances of any wine pairing. 😜

I have asked my TA to apply second passenger's FCD and was told it would only count toward payment since it was not a "new" but existing booking.  As in most cases @Steelers36 is again correct.

I "thought" packages could not be shared...therefore it would be "illegal for @c-boy to indulge in wife's calories.  It's way over the top for my taste buds.  I have to tone down the "volcano" when I order it.

@caribill Thanks for the history lesson.  Princess doesn't seem to learn from their modifications.  3 shows ALWAYS worked.  With seating capacity below 700...there is no way everyone every day would be able to enjoy the shows in the Princess Theater.  But then again, what else would you be doing $$: Casino $$.  Shopping $$.  Having a cocktail $$.
