Housekeeping moving to once a day?

All crew onboard a ship stopping in US Port need a crewmember visa (C1). They also need a transit visa if boarding the ship from US Port (or wishing to disembark while in US Port)

They offer a combo visa for both of these with certain countries.

Appointment wait times vary by home city (the US Embassy there).
E.g. the wait time for New Dehli or Mumbai is 35-39 days, while wait time for Manila is 25 days. But, in Sao Paulo Brazil the wait time is just 2 days!

HI all,

we all sit here and chat about this Issue and offer ideas, but the only way we going to get RCI to understand that most are not happy paying more for less is to tell them.....the customer voice needs to be heard. they are over working there people and providing less...look at the new menu...once a day cleaning. the food getting cheaper and cheaper...but the prices keep going up.

more and more people will change or remove gratuities and the people that suffer are the workers so this company can make huge profits...reach out and tell them we don't like the changes...at some point they might even listen

just my two cents.....

And the best way to "tell" them is to not cruise with them.

That should produce some empty cabins down in the bowels if the ship that RCI can now make available for booking.

no need to go to the bowels, the room Casino Royale put me in on the Symphony made me rage and I am no stranger to insides lol. It was like "Let's carve a room out of a crew supply closet all the way forward on deck 7 and sell that to someone"

Was the room free?

I haven't read every post/response, has anyone has had any experience what the procedure is when there are 3-4 in cabin.  Does the cabin attendant open and closes the sofa bed each day/night.  I can't believe that it would stay open all day as there would be very little room to maneuver in the cabin.  Interested as my son's family is a trio and sailing in August and what is the expectation.

I have been looking for this feedback as well and haven’t seen anyone confirm what their experience was. But I did see an article on Royal Caribbean blog today that had a quote from the executive office: “guests staying in a stateroom with 3 or more beds will have them made up in the evening and stored away during the daily cleaning.”

that still doesn’t fully address my concern (what if the daily cleaning is in the evening?)  but that’s the most relevant direct quote I’ve seen thus far…

We called the C&A desk and the response was not very clear.  All the agent kept saying was that someone will assist you.  But could not describe what constitutes assistance and at what scheduled time of day.

Interesting. Yeah it’s vague and I’m especially curious because my sailing is in a few weeks. Here is the article that talks about it: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2023/03/02/royal-caribbean-updates-cabin-housekeeping-cococay-adult-beach-wowbands-more

it sounds like they will put away in the daytime and then turn down the beds in the evening if you request it.

Currently on Jewel B2B.  Cabin attendant just let us know today that the Jewel is starting their once a day cleaning by tomorrow's sailing, but it does not affect JS and above cats (as I understand is the case with all the ships in the fleet).  Thus we will still receive our twice a day next leg as well.

You can get ice at various locations all day. (Dining room, any bar, WJ, ). We hope to have morning service but if ice is melted in the evening will just bring the ice bucket to dinner  and ask for a refill.

You're being facetious, correct?

They can create a cabin category called "Ship Culture Enrichment" - eat and sleep like the crew; experience life below deck! The pricing can be structured as 1) You pick your cabin mate 2) We pick your cabin mate😄😏

With the current trend to reduce amenities and cut costs, who knows what could happen...😧

Are JS- and suite guests producing much more dirt, trash and garbage than the other cabins?

No, but they've paid more.

So? The person in a regular cabin next door to you may have paid significantly more than you but they get the same cabin service that you do. They don't get more because they paid more.

I agree...unfortunately for the stateroom attendants, what is going to happen is that we will no longer give EXTRA  cash gratuities  to them, which we have always done for the past 40 years of cruising.  I know this does not affect RCI's bottom line at all, but I can not bring myself to pay even MORE for even LESS.

Boarding Jewel on the 17th. Did they say if you could choose AM or PM service?

Surely if you've spent thousands of dollars in a suite rather than a cabin you would expect more than just a bigger space? Otherwise what's the point of a suite restaurant, lounge, extra points, better toiletries etc  Suites are advertised to have more and this is just another 'more'

2nd best plan to get RCI to change the policy?

You can complain... email, social media, GS.  But your chance of accomplishing anything are approaching 0.  I mean if you're still willing to give RC money for what you consider a "lesser experience", why should they change?
