In reality, isn't this whole Godmother malarkey just a flash in the pan, designed for publicity purposes, with little long term impact.

For ten points each, name the Godmothers of Ventura and Azura.

I was a headbanger when young but I  like all genres.I used to see Deep Purple and the likes of back in the day.

I saw them at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, my hearing was shot for a few days.

Attending those concerts and playing drums probably contributed to my hearing loss in my late 50s.

I still favour guitar bands, never been keen on manufactured groups, they rarely last very long as they are more of a product than a genuine group of artists who have worked their way up.

Indeed you do !

And for 10 bonus points,  what impact have these distinguished ladies had on any cruise you have been on, either on Ventura or Azura ?

I saw them at the start of the world Cup rally at Wembley Stadium about 1970. I said to my son, ' I have recorded the cream reunion concert, you may enjoy that '. He thought I said Queen......who's that old bloke playing drums?. He's pretty good.

However, asking Nicole to put her mark and name on skydome shows suggests her involvement more relevant. Becoming Godmother the natural add on as part of the commercial deal

And within five years everyone will have forgotten all about her and the tie in with P&O.

Until you named them didn’t know any of them were so called godmothers to a ship.

Which shows perfectly how ephemeral this Godmother nonsense is.

Pussy Cat Dolls of which she was was a member are the biggest girl band in the world of all time

There's no question she's a big name in world terms and even more so in USA than UK

And worldwide

So assuming P and O want to attract a larger US or worldwide customer base it's a good move for sure

I may be wrong, but I don't think it will attract a larger US or worldwide customer base.

I can’t see anyone saying I must take a cruise on the Arvia because Nicole somebody is its godmother.

But it is one of the few maritime traditions the world of cruising is hanging on to. I for one would be sorry to see it go even though it makes no difference to my actual cruise.
