Just boarded Silver Moon

Last night @10:20pm trying to leave port.  Was so frightening.  Spent the night docked in Reykjavik. Early this AM Captain announced that we should be leaving port around noon. Just a little while ago Captain announced we had some hull damage and will be kept updated.  Yikes!

Video of last nights attempted departure!

Have a great time…sailing on sb next year and we have 6 ports in Iceland, 5 new to us and 3 smaller BI ports also new to us.  Will be on sb in a couple of weeks for 14 glorious days in Alaska…life is good and choice is good too! 😄

looking forward to following along.

As posted before on the Moon the Voices contract ends in mid August.

Appreciate these great, various follow-ups, including about the Voices of Silversea.  Glad that the Silver Moon has finally been able to "sail away" after its little hull "situation".  Hopefully, things are very smooth after this incident.

When handy, would love to hear any feedback and added info that the CD and.or singers might share as to what is coming to replace the "Voices" for the future after the ends of their contracts in later August.

Excellent sharing, visuals on this thread.  Keep it coming, including lots of interesting visuals, food porn, etc., etc.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Big delay. Very high winds. Expected to diminish and hopefully we can depart by noon. First port will be missed. Not our first rodeo. Safety first

Those are not fair winds. Hope they dissipate. In the meantime grab your bathrobe and head to the Arts Cafe. 😁

Shops are busy. Some folks thought they were on a summer cruise. Warm clothing and jackets selling out fast

don’t we all check the weather before we leave?

They could be from Florida

It's the North Atlantic. You can be sure the weather will change. Many times, often in the same day. But cool, windy, and possibly rainy can be counted on.

I think you will do some of the same ports on my reverse cruise. About excursions- we enjoyed several of the walking excursions although they would have been less enjoyable if it had rained. We were fortunate.

Be aware that Glengoyne will be doing maintenance and not distilling right now. Oban distillery is right next to the tender dock and has a pleasant tasting room with several options. The Hillsborough Castle excursion might include a drive through the (formerly?) troubled parts of Belfast.

Thanks. Distilleries are not our thing. We’ve done a private tour through troubled Belfast. Going to titanic museum

Note

there are 31 children on board. Very high number imo and strange for this itinerary

they have assigned a staff member to handle the kids which is good. Many are preteens so they are not an issue. They know how to behave or can be taught.

a few toddlers were running in halls screaming. Bad parenting. Can’t blame the kids

Yep, that's just the thing to visit before getting back on your cruise ship!

Incidentally - true fact (is there any other kind?) - when we boarded the Silver Spirit for our first ever cruise in 2013 the PA system was playing a muted instrumental version of the theme from the Titanic movie.

I’ve been on ships where Titanic was one of the movie offerings. Duh

We slept until noon today. I needed it

unfortunately on this cruise large groups are in the arts cafe speaking and shrieking. Arts cafe was my go to place for a great latte and reading or knitting. And although there is something mentioned daily about phone etiquette, some don’t read as they are FaceTiming with grandkids at top of their lungs in arts cafe.

I hate it when people face time.

It's very rude and selfish when others are around.

I don’t need to share others joyful moments 😁
