using frozen dough and baking onboard the price drops to 16.6 cents from a frequent supplier.

The likelihood anyone is mixing flour, sugar, eggs, fat, salt, etc. from scratch is very low.

A single Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookie trails for $3.19 at some malls, and a  single cookie at Whole Foods is $1.50 - $2 depending on location, but less if you buy a package.

I am very impressed with the research - we’ll done

Don't you just love choices:

Choice1

Warm, hand crafted cookies $2 plus service

Or

Walk the length of Al Bacio for a cold, free cookie.

Choice 2:

Gelato @ $ various

Or

Pop up to the Buffet for free ice-cream with sprinkles (I prefer this option)

Choice 3

Buy a Latte at Al Bacio

Or

Pop up to the buffet or the Hideaway for a free self service coffee.

The Hideaway was shut on my sailing on Silhouette in May,,,probably didn’t see a need for it when there is a kettle in every cabin.

Has anyone confirmed whether the free cookies from Al Bacio have been removed and now the only option is the $2 ones at the gelato station?

If the free ones are still there then I'm not sure what all the hoopla is about. If they are gone then I agree, it's ridiculous to start charging for them.

These are the fresh cookies. The day old cookies will end up at the OVC.

Yay !

No complaint from this buffet lover.

Cookies ( biscuits 🇬🇧 ) are best slightly harder anyway as they're good for dunking into tea without plopping into it.

And as we'll fetch them ourselves we won't have to pay the 20c gratuity.

I tell you, the OVC is where all the good action is. 😅

There were free cookies in OVC on the Summit in July.   At the ice cream bar and the ice cream is far superior to the gelato.  As Elites we each get a free scoop of gelato and it has never been anything special.  We are not booked to cruise again for about 11 months so I am curious to see how this turns out.  Oh, the $10 burgers did not last too long because no one bought them....

Every captains club member gets a gelato, not for elite and up

Perhaps they will do away with Al Bacio and introduce Starbucks like hotels that would not surprise me.
“ To enhance our valued guests experience and enjoyment they can now enjoy a delicious freshly brewed coffee and other Starbucks favourites “ A fee will be applied.

To be honest al bacio is hands down my favorite venue on the entire ship.

If the free cookies are gone from Al Bacio the boards would have been alight with reports. Also there have been no pics showing the cookie jars missing from the top of the cake display.

Without any such evidence to the contrary I believe that X has simply added a paid extra ( possibly only on one ship as this bebate is based on just one report)  and not removed all the free cookies.

There is this from a few posts earlier...

On Equinox now, and I regret to inform you that the cookie situation is as reported. I haven’t been by the Spa Cafe to look, but I have not seen any cookies at the OVC ( but truthfully, have not been looking). Will try to check both tomorrow. On a better note, no signs of Vaping in the casino. And the Luggage Valet is back for major US airlines flying from Ft. Lauderdale, although at an increased cost.

Yes, lemon tarts are very good!  It’s always the cookies and the lemon tarts along with an occasional ice cream!  Never any of the desserts in the ocean view cafe!

Along with the changes in the ocean view after the first of the year they also stop the afternoon tea and scones which was very nice on sea days.  So, it seems they are chipping away at the things we enjoy.  It will be lemon tarts next then ice cream!  Obviously we need to stop being so loyal and switch to another cruise line!

It all started in January when Celebrity changed room service to a cost on all except the Suites and the reduction of evening OVC entrees, now the chipping away continues, one warm chocolate chip cookie at a time.

Hello,

When I was on in June the coffee machine had gone but the cupboard on which it stood was still there.

Regards,

Cublet

Try the coconut macaroons

Those are amazing, especially for those of us on a gluten free diet. We usually would grab 2 or 3 at a time and they would put them in a bag for us and we had a nice snack when we needed it.

I did not realize that. The whole gelato thing did not start until we made Elite....bottom line is that it is not that good, certainly not worth paying for it.

I lave gelato.  I frequently order a scoop or two as desert in Luminae.

I noticed on our last cruise that affogato was no longer on the menu at Cafe al Bacio but I was able to order it.  There are three things I love at Cafe al Bacio (in order) Aspen Coffee / or just coffee with Bailey's, affogator, and lemon tarts.  As long as I can get those I am a happy cruiser.
