How long to stay on ship on last day

Sailing on Imagination in March and need to know how long we can stay on ship before disembarking? Our flights leave later in the evening.

Not very long. Something like 9ish

They will usually start allowing people off the ship around 8 am if you carry off your own luggage. You will need to be out of your cabin no later than 8:00 or 8:30 so they can start getting them cleaned for the next sailing.

Usually the last guests off the ship would be no later than about 10:00 or 10:30. You definitely will not be allowed to stay on the ship after that.

Usually by just after 9:00 (depending when you dock) they are getting rather forceful with their calls.

All off is around 10am.

From you other posts I know you want the inexpensive options.

After the cruise take the free Passport bus to the Long Beach Aquarium.

Afterwards, take the Passport bus to the Flyaway bus at the Long Beach Transit center.

Give yourself enough time to the airport. Rush hour can start as early as 3 pm.

Another option is go over to the Queen Mary. Have brunch, tour the ship. I would assume they could store your luggage for you while you are there.

Not long. It is a completely different atmosphere the last morning. They want you off ASAP so they can turn the ship around and start boarding the next group of smiling faces. The ship could be cleared as soon as 9-10.

Just remember that there are 2000+ guests anxiously awaiting to get on the ship like you were on your embarkation day and they cant do that until the ship gets a zero count.

Even with a later flight, I would want off as soon as I could get off. Disembarkation sucks. Its hectic, everyone is stressed including the crew and they just want you off their ship ASAP. For all practical purposes your cruise is over when you go to bed on the last night.

Another option is go over to the Queen Mary. Have brunch, tour the ship. I would assume they could store your luggage for you while you are there.

Great idea, but Queen Mary is not cheap, especially their famous Sunday brunch! Just to get on the ship, costs $, tours are also extra. Not so sure about storing luggage, that needs to be checked out.

Just a thought - years ago we had a cruise when we were in no hurry to get off the last day. We dropped most of our luggage in the hallway the night before and then took a walk through the passenger sections of the ship (trying not to impede the over-worked stewards) let the last morning. Nearly every room is open and you can quickly get a look at the various cabins - even if it's just from the hallway. We were actually the very last people off the ship.

We had a chance to duck into several of the suites that we would not normally ever have seen (except on maybe a cabin crawl via a roll call group). I realize that the ship is working to clear all the passengers, but we walked off with the last few stragglers and finding our luggage was certainly easy as we had the only bags remaining in the baggage claim area…

I enjoyed it as we didn't have to fight the cattle call at the very early hours of the morning. I'm guessing that we were off the ship by 10 or so at the latest. I was also amused at the vast amount of "stuff" that was piled in the middle of many of the cabins - drawers full of clothes that had been forgotten, beer helmets, souvenir glasses, etc.

Even though this was at least a decade ago, I still remember the enjoyment of not fighting the crowds to get off and the chance to see many different cabins. I know that others will comment that this may well have delayed the boarding of the next set of passengers, but I'm merely sharing our experience.

I agree with this 100%! There have been mornings that we've been off the ship and headed to our car before 8.

Good idea but we would be worried that someone would have taken off with our luggage by than. Not exactly any security there

As I recall the passport bus is free. Does the flyaway bus go to LAX? If so any idea what the cost is?

I agree with this too. We were on a back to back last year and were waiting for everyone to get off before we could be escorted through customs, which didn't happen until around 11. There is nothing to do but eat breakfast, which ends early...there is no music, etc.

The last morning on the ship is completely unenjoyable from the moment I open my eyes, so we jet asap. This is one of the reasons that we travel with carry on only. We leave with self assist FTTF or regular self assist. We are ready to go early and we hustle. After we get to our car we then relax and decide what to have for breakfast. We did the luggage out at night thing twice and decided that wasn't for us.Too much sitting around when we could be on our way home or to our next destination. My goal is to be thru customs while the walk is brisk and the wait less than 5 minutes. Its not for everyone - but it's what we prefer.

Leaving Inspiration in July we had late flights and our zone didn't get called until well after 10, walked off the ship about 11.

We originally booked a one-day car rental for about $40 through Costco. The plan was to take the free Passport bus over to the Avis on Ocean Blvd. to get the car, spend our day in Santa Monica, and drop off the car at LAX.

We were at the tail end of a longer vacation and we ended up keeping/parking our original rental car so I can't tell you how this would've worked out (still spent a lovely day in Santa Monica)... but it's something I'd look at again in the same situation.

10:15 was the latest approx. debarkation time on my last cruise. We were running about 45 mins behind so you may have been able to stay on until 11am that day.

Half the cost of the Super Shuttle we have used in the past so might use them on way back to LAX.

Yep, much easier to use a shuttle, etc. but you're talking to the family that has no problem taking the train(or bus)/train/train/bus to the Dome.

I agree 100%. Very hectic. I get up, eat & disembark as soon as I can. It's over. Need to move on. Others are waiting.
