Average age on Celebrity

Nothing specifically for a younger crowd. The pool Volleyball only happens once per cruise for exactly 45 minutes. There is also a Crew vs Guests Volleyball game for 45 minutes on another sea day. We usually hang around the pool and have some wobbly pops. We aren't interested in Bingo or games in the game room. The 'talks' about the next port are generally just sales jobs as are the auctions and the yard sales on the way to the theater.

Evenings are passed by having a nice dinner, going to the show, and then maybe a drink or two at one of the bars. Their is a 'Silent Disco' that can be fun on one or two nights. Not many folks around after 10 PM on our last 2 Celebrity trips.

I sailed Reflection last month and there were multiple late night shows, including the SIlent Disco.....held after 11 on one

of the evenings. They also had an "adult only" comedy show one evening.......that was in the 11pm range too.

I saw quite a few folks after 10. And the casino is always busy if someone is interested in the tables/slots.

My cruise was over Superbowl Sunday......we had several talks with a retired NFL Radio Broadcaster. They were

very interesting:)...especially if you like the NFL:D

In my opinion, A lot depends on the cruise

Longer the cruise, the higher the demographic normally, during school year higher age too

Transatlantic and Transpacific always have a higher median age (60ish+)

We do mostly 14 day cruises and find the X cruises average age is in low to mid 60s.

Shorter cruises, lower average age. Also, the composition of the passengers changes depending on if the ship is out of Europe, South America, Caribbean, Alaska, Australia or Asia.

Europeans get more holiday time and can take longer cruises, so you see more younger Europeans on 14 day cruises from Europe. If you take a SA cruise when the kids are out of school, wow, the age drops a lot.

Just curious is the income people earn more on Celebrity

I have never once been asked for my median income. Therefore, there are no statistics that answer that question. However, anecdotally you can make some assumptions. Celebrity generally costs more for the same itineraries as Carnival, Holland America, RC, Norwegian and Princess. Food and service are very important factors for Celebrity cruisers, and consequently Celebrity caters to that and it results in higher costs. While Celebrity ships all accommodate families well, they do not have rock walls, water slides, air rides etc. because they target a demographic more interested in luxury than gimmicks/amusement parks. Even their new ship, Edge, which is heavily populated with suites, is targeting "affluent families" per the CEO. So the short answer is, most likely you could assume yes.

Or on second thought, did you mean do the staff on ship earn more?

Personally, I think the poster was asking about other guests........I have no idea what other folks earn

and does it really matter?

I wouldn't say X is more expensive than Royal. At least not on the Oasis Class in a ocean viewing (not Central Park or Boardwalk) balcony! And X's beverage package as a perk does not require you to pay the gratuities which NCL does, making it more expensive as well, IMHO.

my wife and I have been on the sillouette twice. we consider this ship to be like staying at the wynn in las vegas. very classy ship. not many kids. everything is top shelf. we have been on many cruises with most of the other usual cruise lines and this is our favorite ship. the last time we were on the sillouette it was with the new chic nights. we didn't know what to expect but it really didn't change anything. there were some with tuxes and most were dressed to the nines. like before there were some people who decided not to dress up and went to the buffet. we found most people did the formal thing with the pictures etc. on the other nights some people still dress nice and some don't. its whatever you want to do. if you decide not to do the formal thing I think you will be in the minority. I think the reason you see more people dressed up on celebrity because the average age is around 55

I just came off a 7 day on the Silhouette to the Caribbean and the average age was probably 50. As this was the early part of spring in the US and a big week off in Canada; the age may have been a little younger. Also there were lots of multi-generational families onboard.

It depends on what you like to do if there were activities for "younger" adults, I am 43. You could always find someplace on the ship playing live music or a DJ or a dance class. There is also trivia, gameshows, etc. Most of the activities attracted a large age range.

What're your pros/cons on Celebrity I know food would be a pro. How is Choice Air

We have only booked ChoiceAir for international one way and found it could not be beat by a long shot.

It definitely depends on the itinerary. The longer or more obscure the older the demographic. I've been on 6 celebrity cruises all of them longer than 10 days. I'm early 50's and I was probably in the youngest 10% of the passengers on all of those cruises. And it's probably mostly about the money. The longer cruises cost more and require more time away from work and home and for younger folks that can be hard. I know we couldn't afford it in our 20s-40s. We are spending 10K to 15K on these 2-3 week vacations once we factor in the air fair, hotels, taxi rides and spending money (and that;s just a regular Veranda or Concierge cabin). We are certainly not affluent but nice vacations are a priority for us so we splurge on them ( retirement is gonna suck for us:rolleyes:)

I enjoy Celebrity more than the other lines I've been on (NCL, Carnival and RCL). The ships are classier, the food is better and the I like the little things like better lounge chairs, no towel checkout, bigger bathrooms, better beds etc. My wife prefers RCL primarily for the better entertainment. We do like to party a bit and Celebrity's nightlife can be challenging sometimes. The club/disco is usually pretty dead and the bands seem geared more to a more sedate audience. And there are fewer entertainment options on celebrity in the evenings. No piano bar, no pubs, just fewer places to get your party on. If relaxation and food are what you are after I think you will like Celebrity. We are trying a couple of shorter cruises this year so it will be interesting to see if the mix is younger.

I am a first time cruiser, taking the Summit from NJ to Bermuda late this May. I am 32, fiance is 35. While I am a social person, I don't necessarily need to find others to have fun. I will most definitely start a thread here about my experience when I return :) Probably accompanied by a video, because that is my preferred way to summarize my vacations. :D

Anyone interested in seeing my "land" vacations can head on over https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCswLD-ZUI2Eq0Wt4oue86Uw/videos?view=0&shelf_id=0&sort=dd

I checked out some of your videos..... very cool.

I am more of a photo person, but, have done a few videos. I think you will really enjoy the Summit to Bermuda and look forward to your video. You will have a lot to work with.
