Making the plane

I haven't flown out of Miami in sometime

Could I make a 10:00 am flight

If the ship docks at 7:00 am

Thank you for your time:confused:

Yes. If you carry all of your luggage off yourself and are in line by 6 am. 4500 of your new friends will be trying to get off the ship at the same time.

If you get in line at 6:15, you will miss your plane. If any non-US person joined the cruise at any port, you will miss your plane. If there is fog and the port is closed, you will miss your plane. These are reasons we have missed early flights.

It is possible, but you are going to have to use self disembarkation, and have to hope that disembarkation actually begins at 7:00. While it is possible, it is very risky and since most airlines have little extra capacity these days, if you miss your flight it might take two or three days to get home. Is that a risk you are willing to accept.

I appears that you will be on the Sky, which is a smaller ship that usually empties quicker than the large ships, BUT you will have been to Cuba so ICE may take extra time in examining passengers as they disembark. It is going to be really tight thinking that you can be at MIA by 8:00 - 8:15 which is when you need to be there for a 10:00 flight.

There is a reason NCL recommends not booking flights out of MIA before 11:30.

I'm going to be on NCL Getaway, disembarking at 7am in October 7th, I plan on being off the ship first bring my own bags for a 10:05am flight from Copenhagen. I hope this is enough time, going to be very stressful!

Not very likely since you have to be AT the airport by 8am. Then add the 40 minute transit, getting a taxi, getting off the ship, through the cruise terminal.

Even with a 6 am disembarkment- there will be HUNDREDS of people in line with you thinking the same thing, that they can just "walk off " the ship.

Possible, yes. Depends on you. And you being very efficient, able to move quickly and know exactly what to do and go. I don't see a lot of people in this category.

Thanks for the info, you have me very nervous now. I'm traveling solo and very efficient traveling. Arriving on a Saturday so hopefully the traffic won't be an issue. I'm also "gold" status on NCL, so I believe get priority disembarkcaction as well.

If there is anyway you can change your flight, I would do it. Why ruin a nice cruise with stress on the last day and next morning? There will be many people that plan on being 'first' off the ship. Unless you start the line at 5am, get quickly thru customs and immigration once the ship clears (and it might be later than 7am) and have a cab waiting, it is going to be tight. I disembarked in CPH in June on a Saturday and there was traffic due to several events going on in the city. And the airport was not the most user friendly (most of the self-check kiosks were not working, thus having to get into long lines for baggage check). You just never know what could happen. I wish you luck.

I would not chance it. I was looking at a 11:30 flight and decided against it because I know how long debarkation took last January off the Getaway. I'm sailing the Getaway again this January and my only other flight option is 4:30, so I better find things to do before that!

NO! NO! NO!

You will not make it. The port is OVER ONE HOUR away from the airport!

Please change to later flight, so not to stress yourself out at the end of very enjoyable cruise to the Baltics.

Good luck .... we are platinum plus so priority disembarkation at the end of cruises do not always work.

Upgrade to Haven and you'll get it!

"OR" twist the arm of the Concierge with a bit fat tip gets you to the front of the line clearing CBI from there

all the Kings horses and Humpty Dumpty scenarios come into play which NCL has no control of.

Fast transportation from port to airport - check

Traffic not fouled by weather accident and construction - check

Consider after you have reached the airport to check you baggage in timely to be on the flight with you.

Get thru the TSA gauntlet - arrive at the boarding gate before your seats are given away.

Miss your flight and beware the change fees to get a new reservation if one can be gotten at all in the same

day with connections in two other cites involving red eye flights way past your bedtime -

AND DID YOUR BAGGAGE FOLLOW YOU ALL THE WAY HOME ?

Of course you could get lucky - so good luck on getting lucky !

Priority disembarkation means that you will be one of the first color luggage tags (yellow) called. Probably 8:00-8:30. Don't confuse this with the Havens where they will escort you off the ship

True. We were in Haven last cruise (via upgrade bid) and the concierge escorted us off ship via service elevator and we were able to bypass the queues exiting the ship, and on the way to the baggage hall, and that's it.

After collecting our bags we joined the customs queue along with 4000 others. No priority here. This was NYC.

If you carry your luggage , we made a 930 flight several times but Miami airport can be a zoo.

Personally, I wouldn't want to do it, but it isn't as bad as some of the replies you have had suggest.

Firstly, there is a big difference between disembarkation in Miami and in Europe. In Copenhagen you will walk off the ship, pick your bag up (if you haven't carried it off) and go. Immigration isn't an issue.

I wouldn't want to rely on catching a cab, which can vary in availability, but if you arrange a transfer then you should be able to be away soon after your arrival time at Copenhagen.

I've not driven in Copenhagen, but as it's a Saturday and you will be early in the morning it shouldn't take an hour to get to CPH. It's about 10 miles and I'd say that 30-40 minutes is a reasonable estimate taking into account some traffic.

As I say, I'd rather have longer, for peace of mind if nothing else, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to make it unless there are hold ups anywhere.

You seriously need to reconsider that plan. If you are lucky you will be off by 8:00, but you need to be at the airport no later than 7:00, especially with all of the enhanced security for flights from Europe to the US.
