Dan Askin Posted December 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 11, 2012 For my money, it's Carnival's new thin(ish) crust style of pizza. It's only available on a few ships at this point (Carnival Breeze, Conquest at least). There's always a wait since they bake it to order -- but it's worth it. Haven't tried Alfredo's (several Princess ships), which I hear is pretty decent.

trish1c Posted December 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2012 Princess has great NY style pizza. Every other cruise line serves sauce & cheese on cardboard.
Dan Askin Posted December 11, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted December 11, 2012 Pizza on a cruise ship is like going to a gourmet Italian Restaurant and ordering a hot dog. Question still stands, (appropriate) qualifier or not. Which line has the best pizza? And how dare you demean the gourmet hot dog trend <winking emoticon>.
Rare LHT28 Posted December 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2012 It is a very subjective question & there is no answer unless you have been on every cruise ship of every cruise line that said we did have good pizza on the Dawn princess in 2006 ;)
sail7seas Posted December 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2012 We have had pizza on 14 of HAL's 15 ships and the best we have had was Westerdam. Not as good as we get at home but if you get it when they first put it out, the cheese was pretty good in comparison to some of their ships where we did not care for it. Funny how it isn't the same throughout the fleet. One would think it would be pretty close.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 11, 2012 #7 Share Posted December 11, 2012 I thought that Princess had a nice pizza. I have to say we love the one on Crystal. Keith

ducklite Posted December 11, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2012 Best pizza on a cruise was in port in Italy. I've been on four ships on three lines, no good pie on any of them.
paul929207 Posted December 11, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 11, 2012 I don't care for thin crust pizza, so I doubt I would like the new Carnival pizza. Love the pizza on Princess, but rarely sail any other line, so can't compare
Bookish Angel Posted December 11, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 11, 2012 Best pizza on a cruise was in port in Italy. I've been on four ships on three lines, no good pie on any of them. It was all barely okay to abysmal on the five lines I have sailed. I generally avoid it though the veggie pizza at Sorrento's on RCI Oasis of the Seas was okay. skyeman27 Posted December 11, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 11, 2012 We liked the hand tossed tossed, thin crust pizza on our recent cruise on the Carnival Liberty...Best we have had on a cruise ship...
lamchops Posted December 11, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 11, 2012 I love Princess pizza! +1 I had plenty at the pizzaria on my recent TA and can vouch for it's quality and consistancy.
fleckle Posted December 11, 2012 #14 Share Posted December 11, 2012 The opinions of others are very subjective, as with any kind of food. If you really want to know the answer, it is important to book a cruise on every cruise ship so you can compare them all and judge for yourself. ;) But different people will be preparing the pizza at different times, and the recipes may change, so you will need to go back to cruise on each ship again and again. luddite Posted December 12, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Realistically, we must hope that the pizza on a cruise ship will be as good as the pizza from a Chinese Buffet restaurant.
LakeStL Posted December 12, 2012 #17 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Princess. No doubt about it.
mapsmith Posted December 12, 2012 #18 Share Posted December 12, 2012 The best that I had was on the Carnival Destiny in 2003. The Pizza "chef" was Sven. The pizza itself was the Goat Cheese. Have tried the goat cheese on the Spirit, Miracle, and Valor. not the same.
Langley Cruisers Posted December 12, 2012 #19 Share Posted December 12, 2012 It is a very subjective question & there is no answer unless you have been on every cruise ship of every cruise line... Agreed; you speak for me as well. We did enjoy Princess pizza more than RCI, though. *shrug*
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 12, 2012 #20 Share Posted December 12, 2012 We have never had a good pizza on HAL -- not on any ship. It is very greasy. When we sailed on Princess we had excellent pizza on several different ships.
1025cruise Posted December 12, 2012 #21 Share Posted December 12, 2012 I've only had pizza on three different Princess ships, and one HAL ship. On the HAL ship, I couldn't even finish the one slice I took. I know it was fresh made, but it just had the taste and consistency of a frozen pizza. On the Princess ships, I have to keep myself from walking by the pizza counter otherwise I'll keep eating it.
Rare QuattroRomeo Posted December 12, 2012 #22 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Best pizza on a ship was Costa Fortuna. It was thin crust style and very good with various Italian style toppings. Ditto for their pasta. This was a few years ago on a Canary Islands itinerary. Haven't had ship pizza since that rivals that trip!

cz4ever Posted December 12, 2012 #25 Share Posted December 12, 2012 +1 for Princess. I've tried the pizza on Carnival and Disney in the (deep) past, and they did not compare to the (shockingly good) pizza on my one Princess cruise. I was truly surprised how good the pizza was on the Diamond Princess when we cruised it down from Alaska two summers back.
