Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Friendships are important. Forgiveness is something to strive for. I like to photograph lighthouses on my travels. Hmmm on the quote!

I'll pass on the meal (fish) and drink. Yes to the wine.

I've been to Portugal, but not Ponta Delgada. Thanks for the photos.

Hot and humid continues. Supposedly on Thursday we'll get some cooler, drier air from Canada! Last night around 10 my eye became red and light sensitive. I've never had a uveitis flare occur at night, and there wasn't a lot of time to put in drops before I needed to sleep. I did the best I could. Fortunately, it seems to have cleared by this AM.

    @kazu Thinking of you.

@Paw13 Thank you for Father David's sermon.

@Lady Hudson Lots going on with you; thanks for checking in.

@smitty34877 I hope you are all improving.

@StLouisCruisers It sounds like good family times in Cincy.

@ottahand7 I'm glad you're feeling better. I've been having some palpitations, but my thyroid numbers were off, so hopefully lowering the dose of medication fixes it.

@Overhead Fred I'm glad you made it there safely.

@Mr. Boston Sorry to hear the appliance gremlin got you.

@HAL Sailer Thank you for sharing that wonderful story of forgiveness.

@mamaofami Prayers for DD, DGS and all in Israel to stay safe!

@Quartzsite Cruiser Amazing photos as usual.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

    Stay safe everyone.

    You are very welcome Vanessa.

Graham wanted everyone to see David's sermons and only asked me to post them in case they were removed because of a grudge against him from a lurker.

Thank you all for your nice words and Graham will continue to post the sermons next week as I don't normally go on social media.

I will pop in again if Graham is unable to post at anytime.

    Lots of Love.

    Pauline 😘❤️

Good morning. Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit.

Girlfriends are important for support and socializing. I haven't played Mahjong in ages. No mountain climbing for me. Excellent quote.

I like the meal. Pass on the drink and yes to the wine.

I haven't been to Gaspe. Thanks for any forthcoming pictures.

It's cloudy and not too hot so far today. Storms around evening rush hour. I'm glad the roof is patched. Well, I don't think the steroid shot is as effective this time; not bad, but I still have some pain. I'll wait a while and see how it goes. I may have to try the gel soon.

    @grapau27 Nice picture.

    @Paw13 Welcome to the Daily!

@marshhawk It sounds like giving up the dog walking is a good idea.

    @HAL4NOW Great pictures.

@kazu Great that Liz was able to help with Shadow. Pretty flowers.

@ottahand7 Congrats on the fishing and seeing the loons.

@StLouisCruisers Thanks for the update on Ren; I was going to ask about him today. I'm sorry you both are still having leg issues.

@smitty34877 Continued prayers for your family.

    @Overhead Fred Love the picture!

Good afternoon from central Texas -- where at 1:15pm it is a cool 94F, with a slight breeze.  This morning, I was in a hurry to get the first load of laundry in the washer and get to the store, that I forgot to say Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit before I said good morning to DH.  Finger's crossed 🤞 that I didn't jinx August.

So far, it doesn't look like I jinxed anything since DH receiver a call from the Dallas hospital and now has an appointment with the Physician's Assistant for an evaluation at 11 am Friday.  It's a good thing DH gave them my cell phone number because they still could not reach him on his phone.  When we did the online check-in, which took an hour it was that complete, I discovered they had the wrong number for DH.  @rafinmd  Roy, I think you can take DH off the care list since we're now definitely in their system.  Friday's appointment will begin the process to take care of the NPH.

It looks like it's been a busy morning on the Fleet/Daily with a lot of posts taken down.  I'll try to be careful what I say.  For the record, I had no problem with Father David's sermons and know many enjoyed them and found comfort.  If you didn't want to watch, you could just scroll by.  I also agree with others that if it was a Dailyite, which I very seriously doubt,  who complained, I wish he or she had "talked" to us first.  The most likely scenario, as others have mentioned, is that a lurker either took offense or wanted to be mean.

Now, back to our regular Daily programming.  I have two girlfriends that I've know most of my life, one since we were 18 months old.  While we don't talk or see each other often, we always pick up where we left off.  The other I've known since at least the first grade, if not before, and she's my nextdoor neighbor.  We don't always agree, but we're there for each other.  I've never learned to play Mahjong, but @Seasick Sailor  Joy, will be celebrating today.  I've climbed a few small mountains, most really tall hills, but found that is not really my thing.  I prefer walks and hikes on level or almost level ground.

Like all Mahatma Gandhi's quotes, this quote is very true.

We'll take the meal and the wine, but pass on the drink.  I have been making chicken parmigiana in the air fryer for a couple of years now.  My recipe, which I'll share in a minute, is similar to the one @0106 Tina found.  Mine combines two of the steps, which lessens the cooking time.

We have not been to Gaspe, so thank you @Cruising-along for your pictures.  It's been on the bucket list for quite a while.

@marshhawk  Ann, I'm glad you finally decided to quit the dog walking job.  A month is a generous time for giving notice, and most people give two weeks.

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm glad Liz came by and worked with Shadow, plus giving you some good tips.  After what you gave as the reasons they are trying to rescue the dogs, I can definitely understand Shadow's trust issues.  Hopefully they will lessen with time and patience.  If anyone can help her, you with Liz's help can do it.  Loved the flower pictures.  BTW,  🎈  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHADOW! 🍖

@Paw13  Pauline, we can finally officially welcome you to the Daily.  Through, @grapau27 Graham, you have been a part of this group for a while.

@grapau27  Graham, I like the new avatar.  It's hard to tell, but ours was taken on the Great Wall 20 years ago on a stop on Volendam's 60 day APEC cruise.

@HAL4NOW  Thank you for the pictures of Mt. Beckler.

@ottahand7  I liked the pictures of the loons.  Thank you.

@aliaschief  Bruce, again, thank you for more pictures of Scotland.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I'm glad Ren is doing better and never tested negative.  It's good he could to to the soccer camp, but I hope he doesn't have trouble with his leg.

@JazzyV  Vanessa, I'm sorry the steroid shot is not working as well this time.  DH found the shots effect lessened over several years.

The dryer just dinged, bot I better go fold clothes.

It's always fun to see the loons.  They remind me of our childhood camping trips to Up-North Wisconsin!  Their calls are so fun to hear!  We travel to central Wisconsin, and occasionally see a loon there...during their migration time.

We had a fun time at our German Fest on Friday.  Milwaukee has a huge park, and the 1st celebration of the year is Summerfest, it's a huge music celebration.  Then, throughout the summer there are several ethnic celebrations.

Still saying Yay to those celebrating and prayers for those who need them.   And welcome to @Paw13Pauline!

Home again, home again!   As much as I enjoyed the two weeks on the ms. Rotterdam in Norway, home feels really good right now.   Yesterday's travels were really tiring.  By the time we hit the airport hotel last night, we had been up for 24 hours.

@Paw13Welcome, Pauline, to the Daily.   It is so nice to hear from you in person.   Graham has sung your praises for quite some time, so we do feel we know you.

@kazuShadow is coming along all due to your gentle persistence.

That is my favorite as well.   I love the sentiment.

This looks like it could be in a magazine.  Beautiful photo!

Terry, I sure hope someone is delivering meals and helping you.  After all the caregiving you've done, you deserve some yourself.

@JazzyV The effectiveness of the steroid shots does wear off after time.  I went from the steroids to the hyaluronic acid to knee replacement.

@ottahand7I really enjoy your photos.  You make the UP look so good!  Of course, it is a beautiful place.

@0106 Tina, the meal looks wonderful!   I'm not sure what is for dinner.  Probably whatever I can get delivered, but those recipes are a keeper.   I love, love, love eggplant parmesan.   My grandmother made the best and I could have eaten it all.

Happy Birthday to Shadow, @kazu, the first of many healthy and happy ones with you, I hope.  And @smitty34877, I’m so sorry you are all feeling so ill.  Hope you get over it quickly.

our last port today has been Halifax, the warmest we have been so far on this cruise.  Tomorrow is a sea day, and the the end comes in Boston.  Did a lot of walking today, I’ll be sore tomorrow…

I am overwhelmed by everyone's welcoming messages.

Graham is on here all the time and I understand why now.

Graham is usually quiet but chats a lot on here.

I'm happy for Graham and everyone else that our vicar David's sermon has been reinstated.

Thank you everyone for your kindness and I will check back in on Sunday with David's sermon.

    Love and hugs

Rabbit, Rabbit, White Rabbit.  Hoping August is a wonderful month for us all.

Good morning friends!   For Pauline @Paw13welcome to Cruise Critic!  It's nice that we already "know" you though.  🙂  Thank you Rich @richwmnfor the Daily and Fleet Report.  An interesting bunch of days to celebrate.  I like to celebrate my girlfriends and August is the birthday month for two of my longest known girlfriends.  One has been my friend since we were 16 years old and we still keep in touch.  Mahjong is a popular and very noisy game, especially when you're trying to read on a cruise ship and there is a game going on nearby.  We always have to move, even if we were there first.  Mountain Climbing Day is a good cause, but you probably won't catch me climbing one.  Thank you @HAL4NOWfor the photos of Mount Beckler.  Beautiful!  Thanks for the Gandhi quote today, and the chicken parmesan sheet pan recipes sound great.  Gaspe, Canada is not a port I've ever been to but it sounds like a nice place to visit.  It's never been posted in the past.  Hope to see some photos.

I also am sad to hear someone reported Father David's sermon and had it removed.  I would think it is someone who lurks and doesn't join in our community here.  I think we should be letting our feelings known by email to the moderator and I plan to do that.

Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists today.  I appreciate you including Ren but he can probably be removed.  His congestion is improving and he was able to go to a soccer camp at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana yesterday since he doesn't have Covid.  DS says a bigger problem is discomfort from a calf injury in the final game last Sunday in Orlando.  It still hurts!  So Ren and I both are complaining about our legs!  😬

Ann @cat shepardhow nice you have a beautiful deer to watch this morning.  As long as he's not eating your plants you probably don't mind.  Graham @grapau27love your new avatar!  Ann @marshhawkso glad you're retiring from the dog walking job.  It was a major inconvenience messing with your appointments, plus the low pay, and then the injury from the unleashed dog incident.  You can use that time for better uses.  Jacqui @kazuthanks for your lovely flower photos and beautiful Shadow's photo too.  Good idea having Liz the dog trainer come by to observe and give you ideas.  It will take work but Shadow has a great future ahead thanks to you.  @srdancerSorry!  I don't know what's going on!

Well, time for some peach tea.  We got up and walked 2.85 miles in our neighborhood this morning.  It was quite sticky out and about 70F.  It would have been a lot easier with low humidity but we can't expect that in August.  I hope you all have a great day!

    Good morning to all

Thank you Rich for the Daily and Fleet Report. And thank you to Roy for the Cares and Celebration list.

Prayers for all that need them, especially to those with Covid.  @smitty34877 I hope your family is doing better, especially your DH and Tana.

@kazu Shadow is beautiful and I am sure she will calm down and you will soon be enjoying each other very much.

@Paw13 Welcome to our friendly group Pauline.

As for the days.  I love my girlfriends. As for the other two, I don’t play Mahjong and I would not dare go mountain climbing.  For heaven’s sake, I don’t even climb stairs these days unless it is a necessity!.

I will skip the drink, like chicken Parmesan, and like the quote.

Interesting wine.  This past spring when we were in Rome, we took a day trip to Montepulciano and Pienza for a wine-tasting tour.  Very nice wines in that area.  I will be interested to read about today’s wine selection.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.

This thread is about friendship and kindness, I hope it stays that way.

    God Bless,

    Terri

After a week of temperatures unusually hot for here, today is our first moderate day, and it feels divine! Today I can get some work done around the Apple trees, and then we have a neighbour coming over for dinner.

Hello @Paw13! Pauline, I am Laura. We know you so well through Graham’s posts and photos it seems strange that this is actually your first time here. Welcome home!

Like many, I’m surprised by the complaint about Father David’s sermons. It’s not even like they auto play as you scroll by. A person has to deliberately choose it, open it, and sit and watch it to even know, what it is. However, we’ve all seen from dipping into other threads the number of nasty, bitter trolls there are. It’s not surprising one would attack a thread of supportive people. Deliberately provoking a shut down of a string of posts that bring comfort and community to so many is a clever and effective bit of mischief.

Happy Monday, and Happy August. The only fault with August is that I won’t be back on a BHB until September!

I think @Horizon chaser 1957has the best take on the situation. We have a great thing going here and I’m sure it doesn’t sit well with some. I consider it a form of jealousy. Enough said by me.

Pauline @Paw13 — welcome to the Daily. I hope you feel welcome and continue to post. We all feel like we already know you.

Ann @cat shepard — I’ve been meaning to ask you about your upcoming travels. I hope you enjoy!!

Ann @marshhawk— I think giving a month’s notice is too generous.

@kazu Jacqui, great pictures today of flowers and Shadow. The new harness sounds great and hopefully your friend has other good ideas for her.

We will be in Gaspe on October 12th so I’m hoping someone has pictures to share.

The monsoon storm yesterday made a mess in our yard and pool. Craig just told me that our two basil plants look ragged and beat up. But I’m sure they will recover. We did get some much needed rain.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Good morning!

Interesting collection of days today.  I've never played Mahjong or climbed a mountain, but my dear Dad did climb Bellingham's local mountain (Mt. Baker) when I was a child.  Will pass on the drink and wine, but the meal sounds great for today.  And I have all the ingredients.  I'll go for recipe #2 using potatoes.  Strangely, potatoes don't raise my blood sugar as much as pasta does -- go figure.

We have been to Gaspe and will be there again this fall on our Atlantic Coast cruise.  I love visiting that port because besides its beauty, it's the closest I've ever gotten to where my ancestors from my dear Mom's side come from. They came from France and settled in Quebec before moving here to WA State.   I see their surname everywhere when we visit.  We usually rent a car while there, last time we drove to Perce for the day and this fall we'll be driving to Forillon National Park.

Ann @marshhawkI agree with others, it's good that you plan to stop walking your neighbor's dog.  A month's notice is plenty. 🙂

Jacqui @kazuthank you for the photos of your beautiful flowers and also of Shadow.

Good morning, All, and Welcome August.  And welcome @Paw13Pauline to the Daily.  I'm calling it International Girlfriends Day in your honor.  😍

I don't play mahjong, don't climb mountains, but do drink Collins drinks and eat chicken parm.  Wish that Gaspe was still on our agenda for this fall.   We booked Panama Canal instead on the NA.  It's still too long to be away, but it's out of San Diego, so we don't need to extend the trip on either end.  Just hop on the ship, cruise, and fly straight home.   🛳️   🌊   ✈️

Pocket and I have been sleeping in.  Must be the summer heat.  DH always gets up at 7 am no matter what.  I expect it to be a quiet day today -- trying to keep cool.

I did manage to hear our nice sermon last night and it was timely, as Emma Bridgewater has her new fall line out and I need more like a hole in the head.  Father David always seems to hit home.  I'll look to FB for his good words.

Thinking of all of you today.  Especially waiting to hear from @smitty34877Terry.  Plenty to worry about there.

    Thanks for our Daily!  ❤️   🌻   🌹

@Paw13Welcome Pauline to the nicest and friendliest site on the. Internet, so many wonderful caring people.

I've only been posting for a few months and really look forward to reading everybody's posts, your Graham is a great guy and it's a shame that someone had issues with the Sunday Sermon's that Graham posts.

Again welcome from the resident golf nut and addict on The Daily.

Thank you all for your lovely welcome.

I don't eat much chocolate unlike Graham.

Graham asked if I would post the sermons.

    Thank you for your welcome.

@srdancer I have been spanked a few times,  but it is best if you don't mention it here.  Hugs to you. I did write this morning to the powers that be.  Expecting face slap.

@Paw13  I will ask DH this morning if he will do this for me on his phone.  (when he wakes up).  Thank you.

    You are welcome.

I have given you Graham's number.

It is currently 14.04pm UK time.

@grapau27 My cell phone is only for work, so that wont work.  How do you see him on Sundays?  Is there a web site, or the "book of face" ?  Of course, to get that live I would have to stay up most of the night....

@kazu Shadow is so beautiful.  How old is she?  I have a calendar with dogs on it, and this month's calendar has a picture of Cirneco deli' Etna, one of the world's oldest dog breeds, same ears as Shadow.  She must come from royalty.

David sends us the WhatsApp around 7am UK time every Sunday.

I can forward in seconds if you want it live.

    Our church service is

    10.15-11.15am

The daily usually starts around 11.30-12am when Graham posts the sermon.

Our church is St Paul's, Ryhope,Sunderland.

    Post code SR2 0HH.

The church has a FB page but we never use that media ourselves.

    Happy Monday Morning Dailyites!

I kept waking up, so decided it was time to get up, I fed the cats, made the coffee, turned on the news, and I'm once again ready to go back to bed.

I really do miss not having my Sunday fix of Father David.  If it keeps disappearing then someone is complaining.  I too agree with @rafinmd I wish you had spoken up.  Thing is, anyone can complain, they can be trolling or they could be a first time reader.  Who knows.  I wonder if the majority of us complained to the powers that are, if they would reverse their decision.

@grapau27 Would your wife be willing to create an email group, and send it to us that way? I have no problem giving you my email address. Let me know.  I love your new avatar.  Now every time I look at it, I will remember Villefranche and the stained glass window I broke....

The dream for today was to go walking this morning, the reality of the day is that I bought a pair of shorts for DH for our next cruise, and a pocket has a hole in it, and I have to go back to the store and either get a refund, or let him pick out another pair.

I have decided to retire from the dog walking gig.  You did all tell me I charged too little, and after last weeks fall, I have decided that I am too old to put up with a bad dog that is not mine.  Five days a week I cant do what I want to do, because I have to walk that dog.  We rush home from appointments, I miss an hour a day from a job, and I cant make plans that include being gone past 1 p.m..  I understand she wants her dog walked, but I also noticed this weekend she was never home.  I will continue to walk the dog until September.  And I will give her notice today.  this gives her one month to figure out what she wants to do.  (she does have the option at her job to work from home).

I appreciated your opinion, feed back requested.

I think you put +44 and take the 0 away from abroad.

As Graham said WhatsApp is the best way to send it to you.

Nice to see you're much better Pauline. Graham is one of the 'handful' that I consider an important part of this forum, and pleased he stayed. Now for Andy😉

    Avril

Thank you Avril I am feeling like my usual self now.

Thank you also for your nice words about my Graham.

Graham thought Andy might have got an unexpected holiday like he had and decided to call it a day.

You have to be careful what you say otherwise you get a longer time out.

    Love Pauline ❤️

What on earth did Graham do?  He is always a lovely guy.

    Thank you Jean.

Graham is the kindest most wonderful person.

He posted what someone asked for because he is too helpful.

He doesn't want anyone to fall foul of the rules by asking any more questions.

I often moan at him for being on here all the time but after seeing how lovely everyone is I understand now why.

    Thank you everyone.

    Love and hugs and bye.

I'm pleased you're both alright and Sarah is not too worried. It's always the loved ones looking in that are the worriers. Hopefully she will soon feel better and you two can stop worrying.

It's nice to hear from the lady in charge, and I hope it won't be the last time.

    Take care.

    Avril

    Thank you Avril.

I only joined cruise critic to let Graham's friends on here and Royal Caribbean forums know Sarah and Graham are okay.

    I hope you are well.
