FYI -Mariner of the Seas TA May 7th 2018 cancelled

Recommended Posts

I know that some of the people on the roll call for this sailing have been notified already, but this is for those who may not visit it---

This was sent to a travel agent last night -we have to cancel your clients’ May 7 – 20, 2018 sailing onboard Mariner of the Seas to allow for her upcoming modernization. While planning, it became apparent that logistics will require us to arrive at the shipyard sooner than previously thought. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

Has anyone been on the Mariner recently the ship and can give an honest assessment of the ship. We are hearing reason the TA was cancelled is ship is in terrible condition, filthy, nothing has been done to it since it got to Asia and reeks of smoke. My husband has asthma and we are booked on all 3 legs so we are concerned about even continuing on the first 2 legs. Will appreciate any honest input

Thank you for the heads-up. We are booked on this sailing and have not yet heard from our TA or Royal. We were looking forward to B2B transatlantic crossings: FLL to Copenhagen, then Barcelona to Miami. So very disappointed!

Wow that worries me, was going to plan my first TA but now have to consider what might happen to any of you who have their airfare settled. I doubt the cruiseline is going to help with that. Airfare change fees? Kinda useless if you're not going to those cities.

It sucks for the US based folks who already bought the expensive ticket to Singapore - will have to add a TA flight.

Think everyone is in the same boat as the ship is not going to Miami  we had eastern and western caribbean booked too and its a bit of a swim back to Australia 😭

Just got a phone call from RCCL explaining my options, as we are booked all 41 days. If we keep legs one and two we get 50% off, if we cancel one and/or two we are refunded in full, no penalties, even for nonrefundable deposits. We have up until final payment dates in January to cancel with full reimbursement. We are also offered up to $500 for flight and hotel changes. In addition we will get a 25% off to use on a future cruise within 12 months. We were flying to Singapore from Manila, have not purchased any flights or hotels. Now we have to figure another way to get back to the USA next May, did not really want to Fly from Barcelona. I'm thinking of canceling it all, flying to Tokyo and taking the NCL Jewel from Japan to Seattle May 6 to May 26.

 it's going to Miami (maybe directly to Freeport) without paying passengers and so far there's no indication that any of the sailings after the dry dock are affected.

We were on the 3b3 for this cruise. We immediately booked our return from Barcelona on the brand new carnival horizon(I know- it's carnival-lol) but it's not in the carribean.....

It was less money than the rccl ta and in my opinion has better ports. 50% off on the first 2 legs and they're paying our airfare from nyc to Jax fl.

For us it was an easy decision and we get 2 days in Barcelona.

The horizon roll call has several people on it, already, from this canceled cruise.

Hi, one of my friend will be going on the Mariner on September 10 and I will be going for the last cruise in Asia on April 6. He and I will be doing a so called assessment of the ship and we will report back here.

I feel so sorry for those affected by this. I am starting out in NY and flying to Seattle to do the B2B Sept. 29, 2017 Pacific Northwest and Oct 6, 2017 Transpacific on Explorer and then flying to Barcelona from there to do the B2B Nov. 5 Rhapsody Transatlantic followed by a 7 night western caribbean- if I had to cancel my plans for one or the other ocean sailings, it would be a logistical nightmare and from what I have heard of the comps being offered, they would no where near cover prepaid hotels, tours, and new flights. For me, this is a once-in- a- lifetime trip and aside from the financial loss, I would be so disappointed. I hope all affected can rework their plans so they don't feel as I would under the circumstances.

We were on her last October and she is great. Not run down or dirty at all. I'm allergic to cigarette smoke and as long as you stay away from the casino, there are no issues. I'm looking forward to the first two. Disappointed about the TA but will make the most of it.

Why are you getting free airfare from NY to Jacksonville?

When I talked to the special rep, I advised him we were ending up in ny, instead of s fla and had to fly back to jax, as too far to rent a car(like s fl) and he said to send the invoice, and they would reimburse, as long as it was done by 9/13.

Flights were not a lot, so if they don't do what the said the would- WAIT--they would never do that! Hahahahaha - it's no big deal.

Still way ahead w the 50% off.

It's an adventure!

Just got off the phone with rccl again, and re iterated scenario. Advised we were cruising back on another line and ending up in ny , instead of s fl, and had to fly back. NOT A PROBLEM for them to pay, as long as it's not more than 500 pp.

And it must be done and submitted to the at: royalguestrelations@RCCL.com by Sept 13.

Great, we'll probably just fly home from Barcelona. I figured with the 50% discount, we'll be paying just $750 a week on the first two legs
