Prices seem high!?!?!

Is it just me or do prices seem REALLY high right now? I’ve been watching sailings out of Galveston for quite some time now and it seems the prices have gone up quite a bit. I’m looking at dates around spring break and summer so I expect them to be on the higher side but good gravy! Granted I could book ES and hope for a price drop. I’m crossing my fingers for a half off deposit sale soon too! Give me all your predictions on when you think some good sales may happen before Christmas! Anyone had luck with Black Friday deals?

I really caution with early saver rates also nowadays. Depends on the category of room you are booking and supply of those existing rooms. The prices are higher and based on the demand probably will stay that way. I can remember getting several price drops in the past, but now its very rare to see any with room categories selling out very quickly. :(

I’ve never gotten a price drop with ES! But it’s always the cheapest rate out of any of them so I book it. I wait until the price is lower (or just right for me) and then book the lowest rate which is usually ES. I also book well in advance.

I too, have noticed higher than usual prices of late. The only good prices are cruises out of San Juan, and that's true, for not only Carnival, but the majority of other lines who cruise out of that port as well. Guess I'll just keep watching,,,,and perhaps the prices will drop eventually.

Prices for Western Caribbean itineraries are higher than normal while Eastern and Southern Caribbean have dropped. I think Carnival is seeing a dip in demand for eastern and southern due to the aftermath of the hurricane's and tropical storms.

Good luck! Prices have been higher last 6-12 months for sure. Supply and demand. Im sure Carnival has it worked out with their algorithms. Summer and spring break cruises typically run higher. My bet is September cruises next year may be cheaper from this past September's round of hurricanes. First few weeks after thanksgiving and after new year seem to have lowest prices in the past.

Unfortunately, due to school we are stuck cruising during those high times. It’s just too tough on our kids with all the makeup work to miss school. We are stuck paying those prices for now[emoji19]

Prices seem to go up every year. The best way to get a good deal seems to be book as early as possible. Check out New Orleans if you have the ability to go out of there..they are usually a little cheaper than Galveston.

I book way in advance, and often cruise solo. I love Carnival, but I booked a couple future cruises with a line that caters more to solo cruisers because of the cost. This isn't a complaint--as a stockholder I'm glad Carnival can charge and get their prices. I also have another cruise booked with Carnival, but that one is with a friend. We booked that right when it came out and got a good price, and our category price has gone up substantially since.

Agreed, prices have gone way up. Now is the time to price compare all the cruise lines.....some better deals to be had on other lines! We have ventured away from CCL as of late due to their higher pricing (for what is offered), no perks offered (like OBC, drink packages etc) as compared to their competitors and same 'old' itineraries. Look around, they have all gone up, but offerings differ and there are some good 'deals/perks' to be had out there.

We found a good deal on the magic out of Miami for Thanksgiving 2018. We are also locked into the school calendar and the prices were crazy. But this cruise was significantly less expensive. I was thinking it might be because the new ship Horizon will be in Miami then too.

If you are not locked in to Galveston you may want to check it out.

I'm always checking my next cruise's category price. Even with it being 6 months out, the price of my cabin class has gone up $500 from the time I booked a while back.

I'm sure having some of the the Eastern itineraries shut down for a while has contributed to the increase. (And maybe excursions?)

I booked late and best I could find was December. I cruise solo so its X 2. I could cruise for less with no solo supplement out of miami on a nice newer NCL ship.

My agent said people are wary of cruising out of Florida right now so Galveston is high.

RCL goes out of Galveston cheaper but doesnt go to Belize where i wanted to go

I just missed some pack n go rates, but might not have been a actual price drop, they were just dissapearing the afternoon i was checking. I saw $40 less but i have a $50 obc, so wouldnt have been cheaper, but might have gotten a higher category, but i did manage to change to a better cabin on a higher deck.

IMO carnival is filling ships with casino rates so they can keep the prices higher. Its not worth it for just me to get all the way to Miami to get a better price on NCL Getawaway.

read my roll call and other posts on here, Carnival is doing a lot of casino rates, even if you just spent $50 gambling. keeps the ships filled and they dont have to drop rates to fill the ships.

If I didnt want to go to Belize, I would consider RCL out of Galveston. They have some rates for solos not X 2.

I agree, I was thinking after all these hurricanes, now would be the time to get a good rate, nope. If anything it drove up the prices of closer in dates out of Galveston.

Im still going but agree, sticker shock if you want western especially.

They call that eastern caribbean, its usually a tad cheapeer than western.

Ive just done that route to death, so wanted western.

I think that Coz, Grand Cayman and Jamaica are considered Western, and YES it is usually cheaper than the Eastern, or Southern routes. I'm like you, in that I've done that route over, and over. I prefer Southern myself.
