we embarked equinox 15 September and had a great cruise [especially the weather]... however...

- we have cruised with Celebrity around seven times so far and we are fed up with the same menus

- the staff on the cruise were not over friendly not unfriendly kind of just neutral whereby we got better vibes from our reflection cruises

- 4 production shows on a 10 night cruise is over the top - some people like "topper" we just did not like it at all

- the house bands were ok but sorry...... for us the solo guitarist and then the solo piano guy in the ensemble just weren't good enough, their voices lacked strength

- casino...what can I say 2 roulette tables one is a $10 minimum bet stake the other a $5 stake but this one's display machine showing you normally what numbers/colours had previously come up was not at the table as it wasn't working.

Never understood why they have these other than to mislead you - all roulette bets are based on a single spin of the wheel. ( I.e. No accumulators) The fact that a board shows a run of say 6 reds doesn't mean that it still not a 50/50 chance (zeros aside) that the next colour will be red

We were also on this cruise and hubby and I agree that out of the 55 cruises we have taken, it was one of the best. Steamed mussels were served at lunch in the buffet twice. Never ever encountered that before. That was a real treat. The crew that we encountered were extremely friendly. Had one gal in the buffet that I felt was not doing her job as well as being rude. I immediately wrote a complaint and submitted it to guest relations. Two different officers sought me out to apologize and confirmed that this type of behavior would not be tolerated. They apologized sincerely. I appreciated their immediate response to my complaint. Yes, several production shows but if one didn't care for a show, just get up and leave. I didn't particularly like all the shows either, but most of the the entertainment was wonderful. The salute to Frankie Vallie (December of 63) was absolutely the best.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My opinion is just that, an opinion as is gordylads.

I would repeat this cruise in a minute if I could. That says a great deal about our experience on the Equinox last week.

It is a gimmick to get people to play. I have heard many systems for betting on roulette that are based on previous numbers. Could never understand why the people that have a true system are still working.

They think by tracking the numbers they can find a pattern due to an unbalanced wheel or how the pea is dealt. What they don’t take into account is that there are 3 different sized peas that are used to overcome any pattern.

Heard one system called clocking the wheel. It involves what section of the wheel that the dealer starts the pea at. “Logic” being that the pea will circle the wheel so many times and land at a constant section of the wheel in relation to it, so all of the numbers in that section of the wheel are played.

We were on the Equinox in April. The production shows are getting worse. The dancers really don’t need any talent as all they do is prance or march around in different costumes or carrying a prop.

The guitarist must be the same person that we had. He was terrible. With all of the cruise ships the talent pool must be getting low. None of the lounge performers were must see. So it appears as if nothing has changed even though we made comments in our survey.

Thanks for your review and opinion

Well folks it will not stop up cruising celebrity and will indeed cruise again in the not too distant future. I agree that if you don't like a production show you can get up and leave but I don't remember this many in the past and at the end of the day its a win win for celebrity to put on as many as possible. We just want to see a variety.

We did not go to any of the production shows but they seem to be about the same so didn't bother.

We did have "December of 63" as guess entertainers, they were wonderful doing many hits from Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.

I found the crew without exception to be very friendly.

On the same cruise but only our second cruise ever ( we are land vacation people generally), so I can only relate to a couple of topics.

I ate in BLU, so I only have the MDR experience of 2012 to compare to.

BLU dining made the trip for us, as did the staff there. We really felt that they cared about us, and made us feel special.

As far as staff overall, again without multiple cruises to compare to, I did have a vibe that many were "mailing it in". We met a number of staff who were above and beyond, but for everyone of them, there seemed to be 2 or 3 on the opposite end of the spectrum. Maybe it was due to the number of contracts coming to an end, or just a general sense of being overworked. It seemed to me that there were more tasks than staff to carry out. Especially in the bars. In 2012, there didn't seem to be as many drink packages in use. In 2017 it seemed everyone has a package of some sort, driving the demand up. It also seemed to me that people were really pushing the staff hard. I recognize we all have needs, but there are ways to voice those needs. I witnessed a lot of butting in lines, pushing ahead of people for drinks etc. I was raised to wait my turn, but on this trip I felt I had to get a bit more assertive if I wanted to get served.

The WCB, which has some complicated recipes, would get slammed and there was generally only 1, maybe 2 hard working staff there. Really felt bad for them.

Cant comment on the entertainment, only on Sean Roach ( the solo guitarist). I really liked his repertoire. True he didn't have the strongest voice , but he had some eclectic song choices that i really liked. I would search him out. He really was best suited though for a sunset bar type of performance. That ensemble lounge setting was too closed in and a bit dreary for my liking .

Anyway, for us more positives than negatives, but i can relate to how, for repeat customers, things could be viewed differently

The ensemble lounge is dreary. Perfect description. I've always thought that was a major design flaw in the Solstice Class ships. Nothing about it works.

Thanks for your review. I actually enjoyed our Equinox cruise in May and found the staff to be extremely helpful and very service oriented. It was at the beginning of the season in the Caribbean, though.

I disagree. "Dreary" is too kind a description of the Ensemble Lounge. We refer to it as The Tomb. Even in the daytime the curtains are tightly drawn lest any cheerful ray of sunshine disturb the gloom. It's a pity as the upholstery on the chairs is beautiful.

In addition to the steamed mussels in the Buffet, on the last day they served garlic shell-on shrimp that were absolutely delicious.

We had the Premium Beverage Package and never had much of a wait at any of the bars.

Was on the cruise before Irma. Thought the entertainment was good, the production shows were probably the worst of the entertainment, not because of the singers and dancers as they were good when they performed at the pool or at the foyer especially at Celebrity Rox.

No problem at the bars or buffet, could always get served quickly apart from if you wanted to sit in Cafe al Baccio where you had to wait an age for service.

Strangely I also didn't play roulette because the history stack showing the numbers was not there, I know that it is random but we have had "luck" a few times by following a trend.

One major positive about the casino was the lack of smoke.

Overall the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you, a really great cruise for us.

We had a great cruise on Equinox last month. I thought the food in the MDR was very good and the entertainment was fun and different, but we like to switch lines and think things tend to stay "fresher" when not sailing exclusively on one line.

We were also on this cruise. I agree with everything you stated.

Was on this cruise too. Loved everything about it. Thought the production shows were amazing. I thought December 63 was horrific lol...so everyone has their own opinion. Very friendly staff

When is Celebrity going to get rid of Toppers, Chandelier and other horrible production shows? We used to look forward to these shows, but the new group of shows that have debuted during the last 2 years need to be retired.

I also agree that the Ensemble Lounge is poorly designed and has uninspired entertainers. A lot of other lines have a great piano bar - Celebrity should try this.
