Say it ain't so - fee for ice show?

Over on the Australian Board someone has posted that RCI is charging $10 to see the ice show. :eek:

Can anyone confirm or deny?

Voyager is currently in China. I thought they'd been charging for this for a while out of there to be honest

Just got off Indy and was free on there....just had to collect tickets a couple of days before for whichever show you wanted to attend.

There are some things done differently (especially on Quantum) in the Chinese market.

I enjoy the Ice Shows, but there is no way I'd pay $20 for my wife & I to see them. Not worthy.

I agree, they're basically the same w/ a different story line. I wouldn't pay, but hopefully for rccl won't charge so the new people get a chance to see it.

I wouldn't pay for it either!! Hopefully if Royal is considering this, they see our responses. I was going to do the puzzle room on Harmony last year but they started charging for it on our sailing so I didn't do it!! When something used to be free and they start charging for it, I will usually boycott it hoping for a change lol!

I really like the show, I would pay for it, doubt RCCL will charge us, if they do that they would charge for plays etc

That is the first I have heard of this.

We enjoy the ice show, but if this happens I probably will only go to the ice shows I have not seen yet.

As was mentioned, it could be a charge only for China cruises.

When looking for a bargain and go strictly by cabin prices, it is interesting to see that quite a number of sailings form China come up. Maybe this kind of nickle-and-diming is needed to make up revenue, or more likely, due to the short sailings (most are 4-5 days), the charge is to allow those that really want to go to see it.

The ice show is a favorite of ours, we go on every cruise when available. But since we've been there done that for free...not so much for $$.

We have seen the show twice and enjoyed it. However, I don't purchase tickets to go see Olympic Gold Medalist perform in the shows that come to town...sure as heck not going to pay to see a lesser show on a ship.

If it stays free...might go see it again, if for no other reason than it's something to do. If they start charging...pass.

Just finished LOS cruise, saw ice show twice, no tickets no fee.

Need to get tickets seems to vary by ship.

On the Explorer 2 weeks ago there was no fee and you didn't have to get tickets. There were 4 shows that week and it was based on your muster station. We missed our time to go and went to another one. They checked seapass cards at the door. Anyone else was let in 5 minutes prior to the show. starting.

same here. I would not pay for any of the shows.

No big deal if they charged $10 for the ice show. I just wouldn't go. Not missing much.

Now if they started charging for ice in my drinks I'd raise bloody hell!! :D

This has been the reason given since Quantum went to China, starting with Northstar and iFly.

I vote for this being the reason, if what the Australian reported is correct.

RCI seems to be of the mindset that charging extra for something somehow enhances the cruise experience. The only thing I think extra charges enhance is RCI's bottom line.

Maybe, but in the case of the ice show it could be for everyone's safety. 3000+ Chinese trying to get into a free ice show could get ugly.

Not worth $10 - we find them OK at best....they tend to get boring after some time....

Wish they would start charging some $ for the Flowrider!:D:p
