upsell suite equals two cruise credits?

I read earlier posts that indicate that people with upsells to suites got two cruise credits. I have a call in on an upsell offer for October. The rate is not that great, but if we get two cruise credits that puts us at elite next cruise. We were planning to do a short three day cruise to reach elite in January. If we get two credits, we could cancel the three day cruise -- this would make the total out of pocket for the upgrade reasonable. Has anyone had recent experience getting the two cruise credits for an upsell suite?

Yes. In short, you need to get in writing from Princess before the cruise that you will get the second cruise credit. And then after the cruise you have to ask again to actually get the credit. Captain's Circle is saying they are giving us the second credit "as a courtesy", even though according to their present terms it is not: you paid for the suite, and that means you are entitled to the credit. It seems Princess is trying to reserve the right not to give you the second credit. IMO, they need to make up their minds whether they want upsells to give it or not, and then state that very clearly in the upsell offer.

Thank you. I am waiting for a call back. The offer went out yesterday and I only got it today from my TA. There are about 9 suites showing open right now. Hopefully, since the cost is about $800 per person for the upsell on a 12 day cruise, most people will not respond. I would NOT take that offer if it were not for the two cruise credits. We will save that much by cancelling the three day and not having the Casino donations!

If I get the offer, I will ask them to put it in the offer letter that we would get the two credits. Fingers crossed!

I had to call Princess after our upsell cruise and ask the Captain's Circle rep for the second cruise credit. We got it but I have read on here of people not getting the extra credit. Enjoy your suite! It's a great way to go but expect to get spoiled.

Do "upsell" offers generally come before or after final payment. I've received them in the past but never paid any attention to the timing. I have a new travel agent and I am not sure just how quickly he will respond if one is being offered.

I think usually after final payment . I am on the October 1 sailing. So this is about two months out -- earliest I have seen an upsell. THis is a port intensive cruise and a ton of suites were open so maybe thats why.

FYI for those that don't know. If you receive an upgrade to a suite you do not get the extra credit.

Can confirm this. We got an upgrade with no extra cruise credit. Did enjoy all the suit benefits though.

I purchased an upsell to a suite on a trans-Atlantic last November.

The Princess representative that handled the upsell said I would receive two cruise credits. However, it was not shown on the list of future cruises pre-cruise. When I called Princess, they said I would need to call after completing the cruise.

After completing the cruise, I called Princess and they added the second cruise credit quickly with no hassle. My Cruise History now shows two cruises - one with 1 cruise credit and 18 days and another listing for the same cruise with 1 cruise credit and 0 days.

We received an upsell offer the day before final payment.

The rep I spoke with today said the system does not automatically record two credits for an upsell. I will need to call post cruise, but I am eligible for two credits. As long as I get the credit, I don't mind calling.

I recently discovered that an upsell does not increase the FCC onboard credit amount. We received $125/pp for our original inside cabin & not $150/pp for the balcony upsell we accepted on a 17 day TA.

Correct no benefits like that for the upsell and the extra cruise credit.

Like others have mentioned, we took the upsell but did not originally get the second credit. After the cruise I followed up with a call to Princess asking for the second credit. They said no problem and it was showing later that day.

Mina,

You can also request the extra credit while on board. We did at the Captain's Circle desk and it was credited right then.

We visited Captain's Circle about it the very first cruise day and she said we had to follow up after the cruise was over.

Is that the expected standard? Two cruise credits but no additional cruise days? I thought that both cruise credits and cruise days would be doubled.

Is this part for sure?  No increase in the FCC onboard credit when you take an upsell?

(Before I get yelled at, I am pretty sure it is correct, but it is something I was wondering about.  This is our first time taking an upsell and I just wanted to double check with ya'll.)

Our experience of taking an upsell from interior to balcony a couple years ago was that the amount of onboard credit received for using the Future Cruise Deposit we used did not change. I questioned Princess about this at the time and was told that no increase in OBC would be received as we were only entitled to the amount based on our original cabin category at booking.
