Un Published Suite Perks?

Well, in general, you will not hear the word "No" as often as you might in a regular cabin. Suite passengers, especially those who are good natured, are treated quite well.

Your butler will keep track of your preferences, and they will carry from cruise to cruise. For example, if you like certain kinds of treats and not others, this will be in your "file". On our first suite experience, my wife expressed a desire for Pretzel rolls to the butler, and on our next trip in a suite, we didn't even have to ask, our butler had a big tray of them for her on the first afternoon. A little thing, yes, but they do pay attention to detail.

Your concierge is responsible for making sure you are happy so be sure to utilize him or her for any request you may have regarding reservations, shore excursions, shows, or anything else not covered by your butler. In fact he or she can also help if you are having difficulties with your butler or cabin steward.

Enjoy your cruise in a suite :)

Is it possible to get things like candies (M&M's?) or chips from the Butler??? We usually bring M&M's on board for a sweet snack, but won't if I can get them onboard?

M&M's depend on the ship. If the ship carries them as snacks you can get them. Last year on the Dawn (DOS) none available. Butler, Concierge and HD all said no. Chips always available.

Our butlers aboard both the Epic and the Sun were aware of four of our grandkids in our suites, and we had bowls of both M&M's and gummy bears mornings and evenings left on the table for them. Many of the staff have kids back in their home countries, and seem to like to do nice things for the youngsters.;)

When you go to the line to check in, once you identify yourself as a suite passenger you are guided to a special line and are checked in immediately. Your Consierge will deliver your ship card to you before you board. You then are brought to the Vip lounge. In there you will find hot and cold beverages, small sandwiches including delicious tuna. They also have freshly baked cookies. After a while you are escorted onto the ship and then to the VIP diningroom where you enjoy breakfast and lunch daily. On the Gem this is Cagneys. They have a short but very high quality menu. The service is superb.I love the quiet of that venue. Every day the hostess would make sure that I would have two pillows on my chair.

After the first two hours you feel like royality and you havent even sailed yet.

We had a doorbell in our suite which was a surprise to us. The Consierge rang it to see how we were but we had no idea where the ringing was coming from.

My last two cruises on the Gem were in a suite. I am currently booked in a balcony. Lets see hiw long u can hold out before I move up.

Enjoy your week of pampering.

Strange - Last year on the Dawn (in April) we had no problem having a bowl of peanut M&Ms replenished by the butler in an SF cabin.

When we sailed on the Pearl in 2009 in the Garden Villa, our butler figured out we only liked the green and red gummy bears. After a day or two, those were the only colors he brought us! Talk about service.

I agree! We were on the Dawn in January in an SJ and had an amazing amount of M&M's and gummy bears left everyday.

Gummy Bears! my daughters going to be so happy. We have our first Haven cruise booked for the Escape. Its a surprise for my family. I think I will tell my DH but maybe not the kids. They think we are in a Mini on deck 8 and DH keeps talking about getting another room for the kids. Little does he know I booked a 2 bed already.

A file? Hmmmm. Wonder if they keep a record of tips received. Very telling if so.

We have cruised in a suite on the Dawn 4 times and have never got gummies or m & m's. But my baby is 22, so maybe they save candy for families with younger children?

I was told by the concierge on our last cruise that our preferences would be kept on file, we shall see in a week if that is true.:) (We tipped well, cash, not sure the crew would have disclosed the amount)

Not sure if it makes a difference as I am unsure of what you may or may not requested to be arranged through the pre cruise concierge but I did request the items in advance. We also had a daily delivery of chocolate covered strawberries as well (which I did not ask for but we loved getting them). I do hope they maintain the list of preferences for suite guests as we would love the same this coming January.

Sailing on the Gem in November. Aside from the published suite amenities from NCL, did you find that there were any other perks on your cruise?

Love the portable phone to use on the ship, that isn't normally mentioned as a suite perk but it comes in handy trying to locate people at times.

We've had the M&M's ...plain and peanut, and the gummy bears were sorted by the butler so he only left the red and orange for me :). They bring my husband bar mix frequently, so that must be listed in his permanent file. Many cruises we've been escorted down and off the ship first in port...as well as priority for embarkation and disembarkation. Bathrobes, and slippers are always a nice touch in the suites. Bathroom scales I can live without.

Not all of the ships have the portable phone--Star did not. It sure is nice to have one though. I agree the bathroom scale was a puzzle to us since we never weigh ourselves but maybe someone does. I am looking forward to M&Ms on the Jade.

OP- I read on CC if you do not bring your own binoculars you can request a pair. I bring mine and the DH and I switch off from binoculars to our camera with zoom lens. It is nice to have to watch the sea life.

I've had the portable phone on the STAR in the past...maybe that depends on the cabin type there. I was in the deluxe owners suite on the STAR the last time I sailed the STAR.

Not sure if this list thing is true. We have been in suites many times and never have experienced anything to indicate they remember our preferences! In any event, once you tell your butler your preferences, they make it happen. Enjoy your cruise!
