Not good with the tides…

For our friends in Florida, including Lois in Jacksonville, below is the latest official projection chart for how things will hit the Sunshine State on Wednesday, plus heading up the Georgia and Carolina Coasts, etc.  Good luck!

THANKS!   Terry in Ohio

Lois boarded the Silver Dawn and departed from Southampton today.  Hope that she doesn't have to spend too much time tracking the news during her voyage!

I totally agree.  It does seem as if Jacksonville will not be particularly impacted.  Our little slice of redneck heaven however is another story.  The house survived Denis and Michael, so we are hoepeful.

Appreciate this reminder and follow-up for Lois and her happening-now UK/Ireland adventure.  Will look forward to getting updates (and maybe even some visuals, hint, hint!) from Lois.  Hope all is good for Lois during this sailing.

Just to share, her ports/stops scheduled including:  Plymouth/UK, Cobh-Cork/Ireland, Glengarriff/Ireland, Galway/Ireland, Killybegs/Ireland, Ullapool/Scotland, Scrabster/Scotland, Skagen/Denmark and finishing in always wonderful and charming Copenhagen.  Is that, Lois, the correct schedule/plan?

Good luck to Emtbsam for surviving safely that part of storm-affected Florida.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

In the morning network news, the hurricane is getting closer to a part of Florida that does not get normally hit as hard by such storms.  Good luck to those there.  Then there is the challenges with Franklin.  See AccuWeather chart below.

Have a good friend on his way to New York City today to board a cruise going up the Atlantic Coast to Nova Scotia and then on to finishing in Quebec City.  Will Franklin stay farther out in the Atlantic and not impact them?  Or, shift its path to threaten them??

Lots of weather questions??

I have had a house on the coast at Alligator Point for the past 37 years and have been through many hurricanes and hurricane warnings.  We are south of Tallahassee in the "Big Bend".  This is what the road to my house looked like after a Category 1 storm in 2017:image.thumb.png.7e2f1a5111843e270afe3f14d04108e9.png  Tensions are understandably high!

All cruises into Bermuda this week have cancelled because of Franklin, mebbe going to the Bahamas but dunno if that’ll work with Idalia, no idea what will happen to those more northerly itineraries.

Always interesting (and depending on where you live, frightening) to watch the models evolve.

Two potential developments to keep an eye on are the potential for Idalia and Franklin to cross paths in what is known as the Fujiwhara effect.  Fujiwhara effect - Wikipedia

And then there are these model tracks for Idalia causing additional consternation with the potential for a loop back after Idalia leaves the Carolinas...

I always shake my head when people say "It's only a Category 1").

WOW!!!  That NY Times picture of the roadway near Alligator Point is very dramatic.  Understand fully why things are tense and uncertain for these parts of Florida.  Will be watching and hoping for the best under challenging circumstances.
