Updates RE: Unlimited VS. Ultimate dining package

Recommended Posts

Oh well... Just going to get the 3-night dining plan @$99/each. Since we have Coastal Kitchen to choose from also (and will probably have a night or two of snacks/drinks/music) it's just not worth it. Probably will opt for the beverage package though... that's one that, even if I don't (which I won't) "get my monies worth" every day, I'd rather not even have a passing thought of the cost of a drink  🙂

See my post #61 above.

I asked and, unfortunately, was specifically told no Johnny Rockets under the unlimited dining package.

We are eating at Johnny Rockets right now on Anthem and it is included.  We did have to mention it though otherwise we would have been charged

Recently on Navigator and can confirm Playmakers is included.  Great for the Icecream Sundaes which had scoops from the Ben And Jerrys tho that isn't included!!  Winner!!!  🙂   Also Izumi standard sushi restaurant included with $35 spend 🙂

That happened to me on Mariner when I went to Playmakers.  The first time I went I mentioned I had the UDP and they didn't charge us anything.  The next day I didn't mention it, assuming everything would  be OK, and received a bill for my nachos.  They corrected it after I pointed it out.

You have to wonder if that's not part of the master plan... to "inadvertently" charge what the market will bear!

I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist so that thought is right in my wheelhouse but my suspicion is that the first time I went it was dead at playmakers.  The second time it was hopping and the servers were swamped.  More likely just human error.

More than likely. I have faith that the staff would not intentionally try to overcharge anyone (glass half full). But hearing so many reports of people basically having to point this out, when charged in error, makes me wonder why the higher ups don't drill it into them, unless...  😉

Having to go back to reprint and edit checks is not fun. They aren't doing that on purpose. And nobody with UDP is going to just pay the bill without saying anything.  Makes no sense this would be intentional.

It would seem illogical, no doubt.

Just chalk it up to either overworked, inept, or poorly trained crew then I suppose.

Thanks Jenn.  That it is very interesting.  I am glad you were able to take advantage of it.  I only wish the staff on my cruise were better informed!

Are the milkshakes included or just food?

Does anyone know if captain jacks on coco cay is included with the unlimited dinning package? It would be reasonable to think it would be as they honor the beverage package and now voom on the island.

It was asked by a blogger that visited this past weekend and he was told that Captain Jacks is not included on the Unlimited Dining Plan nor is it included for Star Classes.  He added that the only things available on the Captain Jacks menu were fries and wings, so it wasn't a big loss.

We just got upgraded to the Aqua Theatre 2 bedroom which now makes us “Star” one of the perks is ultimate dining and includes ala carte from what I’m told. So does this mean we can eat anywhere on the ship for free (Allure)?

Yes.  At Chefs table I believe there is a minimal charge.

This dropped to $25/night for my sailing late last night.  Grabbed it.  Total cost is $175/person.  Seems totally worth it at that price, especially because I'm sure I'll want to watch football and snack in Playmakers!

Ditto.  Just saved $50 and the drink package is at $49 now (was $52)... so nearly $100 in savings.

Does anyone know how the unlimited dining plan works when you have kids? I remember reading something that said kids under 12 can't get the plan. But say my husband and I have the plan and go to Playmakers, would our daughter's food just be at menu price since it's an a la carte restaurant? Sorry if that seems like a silly question, but this is our first time sailing with our daughter!

I was under the impression that Cap'n Jacks is included in your cruise, period. I believe all dining options on Coco Caye are included in your cruise fare. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you would have to pay alacarte prices for your daughter, unless they have the free children’s menu that most of the other specialty restaurants have. I believe the menu consists of typical kids fare like burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, mac & cheese etc. Not sure if Playmakers would have the menu as they are not the formal dinner specialties.
