Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

@jagsfanMimi your phone issue reminds me of my kindle issue.  Glad yours is resolved but so sad you lost your brother's message.

For no apparent reason, my kindle is unable to download borrowed books from the library (21 days) anymore.  I get a message that I have no kindle books registered.  I do have my kindle registered and downloaded a bunch of books from the library just before our Bella cruise.  I have been downloading library books for years. I did nothing out of the ordinary.  I'm baffled and unsure of what to do.

I'll call the library to see if the problem is on their end.

My kindle account shows the books have been downloaded and shows when they are due back.

I can download and read from my laptop but it isn't the ideal cozy method I like for reading books.

Has this happened to anyone?

@jagsfan So sorry this happened to you and ruined most of your weekend. I have an appointment tomorrow to transfer the data from my iPhone to my new iPad . I , too , am not a computer genius but learned from your post what to avoid . Best Buy has sent me e-mails on what to do before my appointment and one thing is to store the contents on iCloud and they included a link . I would have been clueless, otherwise. I know about restore to factory setting and that is what I did when I passed on my phone to my daughter.  Again , so sorry about the loss of your brother’s voicemail.

Loved the video, Always thought Las Vegas had a lot more high rise buildings though. I thought it was built up more.

Someday we might go there, so far haven't made it there.

Cool to see the Allegiant Stadium where the Raiders play now.

Really just the strip, and I think the Eiffel Tower is 1/2 scale.  Downtown, I don’t think anything over 5 stories.

Phew 😅  I finally caught up after being pages behind . . .

To all who celebrate Easter, I apologize for not getting a chance to send this message sooner.

So... even though the message is late for this Easter , I would like to extend these wishes  for Peace, Hope, and Happiness to everyone for everyday ~ no matter what holiday you celebrate.  ☮️ 🙏 😊

I don't think you need to book a room in MGM.  You use your Royal Diamond status to get MGM Rewards (formerly called mLife) Gold status, based on the partnership between Royal and MGM.  Once you have MGM Rewards Gold status, you would contact Caesar's to have them match their Caesar's Rewards Diamond status to your MGM Gold status.  As someone else pointed out, you can probably do a similar status match with other Casinos, since they all want you to stay/gamble at their hotel.

Disclaimer: I have not tried to do any of this.  My daughter forwarded the video to me, and I forwarded it here.

Edit: Here's a link to the various benefits that you get with Caesar's tiers:

Benefits Overview (caesars.com)

Unless you are a really big fish, I think the benefits are mostly waiving of resort fees, and some other minor benefits.

Bonnie, I know that just recently the "Overdrive" app was discontinued in favor of their app "Libby", and that was the service that a lot of libraries used for digital books.  Maybe your library changed their protocols with the end of the Overdrive system?

I described the flight times and process above this post. When they checked us in they took our actual weights VS what we filled out on-line months ago. In the front row there was the 3 of us plus the pilot.  If we remember there was 4 seats in the back. We did book the chopper for a private flight and they allowed us all in the front row.

If there was a full flight I do not know if they would arrange where you would sit or not. I do suspect that they would move you from the back to the front going VS return flight. If we remember there is also a max weight per person.

They also do this exact flight as a sunset flight tour and when you return you see the strip at dusk. The lights are stunning. The sunset on the canyon walls is something to see.  This was Lisa and I 10 years ago at the same spot.

Our flight from the south rim with Mavericks, I got stuck in the middle of the back row, I about had a panic attack as it was winter and I had too much clothing on, and had to remove a couple of layers.  Our flight was a bit awkward and the other passengers spoke French, and no English.  Probably from Canada!😂

When the film was being made the UN refused to allow the production company to film in the UN.

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend. Traditionally our parochial schools had Easter Monday off, extending the weekend. So I still think of the week as starting on Tuesday.
I had a pretty disastrous weekend, at least Friday and Saturday.
I got an iPhone 14 Pro, and Dick inherited my 8 Plus.
Not being very brave about transferring data, we went to an Xfinity store for the afternoon Friday. David, a very patient guy, moved my data to the new phone and moved Dick’s to my old phone.
it took forever, but worked beautifully.
So Saturday mornin I was fiddling with my lovely new phone and looked at the Find My app.
Saw that it said 8 Plus. So I clicked on it, and the next thing I knew “phone locked”.
I couldn’t get into it. After at least 30 minutes I got “erase phone”. Not being more then .02% tech savvy I clicked on it and factory reset my new iPhone.
My phone was blank!

Dick was waiting for an AC repairman because our air went out.
I flew past him and out the door like the devil was after me.
I made myself drive the speed limit back to Xfinity, where I clutched David around the knees and begged for a miracle.
He told me I had cleared it of everything.
After I got up off the floor I asked if some of it was in the Cloud.

He asked if I had backed my phone up.
I don’t think he thought a lot of my intelligence!

Long story short, he got it started uploading and sent me home.
Got home and I couldn’t get into it. Back  to Xfinity, and  David did some more magic ; I had to sign in with my very ancient password I hadn’t used in 20 years, but it worked.
When I got home, I went into the App Store and started reinstalling my apps as I thought of them.
Then I started putting them in folders again, like Restaurants, Medical, Finance and Sports.
Last was having to log back into each and every one.
What I permanently lost:

A Voicemail from my brother Bill who died Dec 3…that is crushing.
My Kindle Store App that let me buy Kindle books on my phone. Kindle eliminated the app.
My Jaguars emoji keyboard. Also no longer exists.

I got everything else back except my phone records.
Lessons learned:

Keep everything backed up.
Do not touch the Find My app. Ever!

My heart is way stronger than my cardiologist thinks it is.

The loss of the voicemail made me catch my breath.  A couple of phones ago I lost the last voicemail from my Dad.  It is sad and I am sorry it happened to you. Technology can make a person scream  sometimes.

Debi, thank you so much.  I already have the Libby app on my phone.  I click on the picture of the book I want downloaded to my kindle.  When I click "download to my kindle" is when I am notified that I have no kindle registered.  Sometimes I am able to download to my browser but as I previously stated, I hate reading books from my laptop.  Maybe I need to reinstall the Libby app,  I have a Kindle Fire and the instructions are way beyond my pay grade of understanding.

Again, thank you for taking the time to help.

Four more days of Passover.

Four more days of no bread, pasta, rice, cookies, corn chips, ice cream, cake and so much more.

Four more days of eating matzo which runs havoc with one's natural digestion.

Certified Passover pastries taste awful.

Every year, about this time I long for any kind of sandwich on thick crusty sourdough rye bread.

Looks up to heaven "mom, I hope you appreciate this"!

We  pick up after our dogs. In the case of a messy poo they say some Dawn dish soap with water and a brush will clean it right up.

I had artificial turf put down several years ago, and have never regretted the decision.  Like you said, it is so real looking.  I don’t have a full time dog, but when I take care of my niece’s Frenchie, it is very easy to clean up.  They even put some sort of a deodorizer base down.

This reminded me that on one their visits to Vegas, DD and friend stayed at The Paris Hotel.519CFA6D-A629-47F6-951C-8D2FA586EB25.thumb.jpeg.c0ae9ec8d856a7430f4746a35e7a1704.jpeg

That tower really looks authentic.

One Vegas visit, we took the elevator up to the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel.  The elevator operator who looked about 20, had on a fake mustache and a beret trying to look like a real Frenchman.  Jack asked where he was from and the elevator operator said, "Long Island, NY".

I need to upgrade from my IPhone 7, and  it is stories like this that make me say, “No, I’m good”. 🙀

I am so sorry to hear about your lost vmm.  I do the same thing (saving vmm’s) as I can’t imagine never hearing my brother’s voice again. Hugs to you.

Even if we're kind of "5th wheel", we felt very welcomed.

A wonderful selection of photos Dani.
