Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

I am happy to say that my retirement income and pre-paying some taxes quarterly, I only had to pay $77 to state.  The federal return  I opted to defer to offset  next years lottery winnings (if the luck would continue).

So now I wish all a safe and relaxing day.

And as I drive, I have a signigicant time so  I say my prayers, and I include all my friends here on CC

Take care.

Sue

We don’t have to file our taxes , federal and state , until October in California because of the impact the rain had on our state .

Congratulations , Sue , on your casino winnings !  I’m just wondering if RCG gives you an end of the year statement on your winnings for tax purposes.  You must keep a record of your losses , too.

There are 8 casinos on Native American reservations within a 40 mile radius of my home and 3 had shuttles one of which used to pick-up 1/2 mile away. There aren’t any shuttles operating now because of Covid and all but one has eliminated their buffets. I used to go regularly and my hubby always asked how much did you win ? Never how much did you lose which would have been not so good to report. There’s a saying that the house always wins in the end .

Do you have to report your comped cruises as income?

+ 1  @A&L_Ont

Thank you, Andrew, for the amazing video, giving me a perspective I know I'll never experience, since I'm so afraid of flying 🙏

And, speaking of Vegas, which Andrew made me to visit again.... Bob @bobmacliberty,

Please help me understand... we're diamond on RC. We have to actually book a room in MGM, stay there, let's say for a night, in order to qualify to book a room at CP at a reduced rate? Thanks 🙏

I don't think you need to book a room in MGM.  You use your Royal Diamond status to get MGM Rewards (formerly called mLife) Gold status, based on the partnership between Royal and MGM.  Once you have MGM Rewards Gold status, you would contact Caesar's to have them match their Caesar's Rewards Diamond status to your MGM Gold status.  As someone else pointed out, you can probably do a similar status match with other Casinos, since they all want you to stay/gamble at their hotel.

Disclaimer: I have not tried to do any of this.  My daughter forwarded the video to me, and I forwarded it here.

Edit: Here's a link to the various benefits that you get with Caesar's tiers:

I have been browsing the site for the most part this past week.   It has been crazy busy at work with the owner back in town for a couple of weeks and working on several different projects while I have been training a new person that started the week before our cruise on Anthem.    I had several late nights and on Friday night Eric and I went for a nice dinner with my boss and his wife.     We had a really nice evening that was much needed.

Yesterday, we purchased a used Ford Edge from a good friend of one of our neighbors who was originally going to give the SUV to his Daughter as a high school graduation gift but his ex-wife refused for her to have a vehicle.    He had a bunch of work done on vehicle to get ready to gift to her and was really upset when his ex refused.    He said he just wanted to get rid of  the vehicle as he had already purchased a new BMW in January and has his 2 classic corvettes and has no reason for a 4th vehicle.    We paid a 1/3 of what it would have cost if we bought from anyone else.

Now we have 5 vehicles for the 2 of us.     Plan on selling my Dad's Sebring sedan this summer.    Great car with low mileage just have no need for it and need room in our driveway.

I am happy to now own a suv that I can now use to drive to cruise ports and load up with other large items that never fit in my tiny truck of my convertible and never allowed to put in Eric's Challenger or 300.

Last night we went through the 13 page list of comped cruises casino royale sent us.    So many nice sailings but we are restricted due to work and vacation and other cruises already planned.

I think we have narrowed down to either a GS cabin on Vision OTS for December 2nd for 12 night cruise or a JS-4 on Anthem for one of the 11 night cruises Jan 2024.

@DaniDanielle   Have you and Charlie checked out any of the 11 nighters for next January?      We are thinking about 1.18 or 1.29 but have to check with my Boss this week before I call to book

If you have time to spare here is the video of our trip to the Grand Canyon. I cut a lot out and it is still just under 15 minutes. You can see how low Lake Mead is even though it has gone up a bit, Hover Dam, The GC Skywalk, and a return flight over the strip. The one thing I found amazing is how green and lush even the dessert was after their rains so far this year. You especially see it in along the river’s edge.

If you have any question I might be able to answer them. I also added some music so please turn up your volume.

A direct link if it doesn’t want to play.

Loved the video, Always thought Las Vegas had a lot more high rise buildings though. I thought it was built up more.

Someday we might go there, so far haven't made it there.

Cool to see the Allegiant Stadium where the Raiders play now.

It is not your usual tourist dining spot .  How many tourists dine there ?  It is probably closed to the public now.

I was in the dining room twice. The first time was many years ago when I was at a dinner to receive a Humanitarian Award. The second time was in 2018 when I took a tour of the UN with a Senior Tour Group and lunch was included with the cost of the tour.

I have not. I think they only allow people into the lobby to look at the Art Deco interior. Otherwise, there is not much else there. No observation deck, gift shop or musem. Pretty much strictly an office building.

Are you going to the April 19 Rangers game ? It is an Event night to honor members of Law Enforcement. My SIL the huge Rangers fan is going because the company he works for is one of the sponsors.

@A&L_Ont  Loved the video.  I’m not sure if you mentioned this somewhere, how long was the actual experience?   We’ve driven from Vegas to the Grand Canyon which was about 4 1/2 hours each way.  It is truly spectacular.  Great music choices.  (Can never go wrong with the Foo Fighters.) 👍😁

That was sarcasm... I'm one of the squarest people you'll ever meet.  I've never once tried so much as a cigarette, let alone weed or any street drug (or prescription drug that wasn't prescribed to me)!

Oh, I thought maybe you accidentally ate poppy seeds or something and was concerned and couldn’t reschedule the appt.

Finally, we found out what's causing the pain, and it's what I've feared all along....Monday, more than 3 weeks after the pain started, DH had intestinal bleeding. Still, our family dr is MIA, and we couldn't find another dr. I spoke with the emergency contact at Maccabi, and they sent us to a family dr, who luckily, didn't take time off during Passover.

He immediately prescribed Omeprazole, to be taken half an hour before eating. The improvement in pain started 2 days after. PITY this pill wasn't prescribed together with the pain pill. We would have been in a whole different, pain free situation, by now. Even went ahead with our planed trip....

So, as a lesson from our "experience" -- whenever you're prescribed a strong pain pill, ask for an additional pill which will coat your intestine/stomach against adverse side effects.

I'm so disappointed in our family dr, that he didn't bother to do just that.

So glad you now know what the pain was from and your husband is getting better.

Would our DIL's SIL's parents be better 😉 ???

No, no, there is nothing wrong with either!  It’s just so many relationships to explain…. And you didn’t even have to use second cousins, cousins once removed, cousins and a half…😜
