Sun and Fun Posted January 24, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2021 We will have the Ultimate Dining and staying Star Class on Symphony of the Seas so have access to all dining including Coastal Kitchen. What have been your favorite dishes/restaurants? I have been looking over the menus and there looks to be so much foodie goodness!

Beer and a lobster roll for $10 which for you would be free. we always get the UDP and haven’t eaten in the MDR for over 5 years. I would suggest trying a different restaurant every night. Hooked Chops Giovannis Wonderland 150 Central Park...love the tenderloin for two Izumi Hibachi Izumi Sushi Use Coastal Kitchen for breakfast and lunch. Or maybe one dinner if one of the restaurants didn’t appeal to you. We do one of each but skip Izumi Sushi and do one of the others a second time Edited January 24, 2021 by Ourusualbeach
irishgal432 Posted January 24, 2021 #4 Share Posted January 24, 2021 Have your genie set up a bloody mary bar in your room. We are doing this next time with mimosas as well. It comes with the drink and all of the fixings. Not my photo copied form Facebook.

sandebeach Posted January 24, 2021 #6 Share Posted January 24, 2021 Also, if you have never tried Wonderland, definitely try it and take pictures. To me, it is an adventure. We loved it our first time on Harmony but when we did it again on Symphony, it wasn't as magical because it was the same experience, repeated.

We enjoyed Hooked on Symphony because it was a new restaurant for us. The others are on other RCCL ships so we had been there before. I also like ( although I may be in the minority) El Loco Fresh. It is rarely crowded for breakfast ( especially at the beginning for the cruise) and i can get breakfast burritos or huevos rancheros. Pace yourself! We have not had the UDP but our friends who do all tell us they need to pace themselves as there is simply so much food. Especially on sea days when they have an option of both lunch and dinner at a specialty restaurant. Halfway through the cruise, they were tired of eating. Often the wait staff can recommend options that passengers seem to like . ENJOY

Even though we always get the UDP the only times we have ever used it for lunch was on Oasis at Portside BBQ and my son has used it to pick up an order of Sushi to go at Izumi. Simply too much food to have lunch at Chops or Giovanni’s and then dinner again.

I will definitely need to change my mindset of needing to try everything on the menu and it is ok not to order an appetizer AND dessert 🤣. With a 20 year old son with a healthy metabolism, he is READY for all the food. Edited January 25, 2021 by Sun and Fun
Rare crewsweeper Posted January 25, 2021 #13 Share Posted January 25, 2021 don't forget the chowder at Hooked! And the smoky Old Fashion at Wonderland. Anything on the Wonderland menu. Agree with poster above on El Loco Fresh for breakfast. Solarium bistro as well. Chops for a steak, maybe. Skip Jamies/Giovanni. Revamped menus aren't what hey used to be. We asked our Genie to stop the surprise deliveries after about the third day because it was too much food.

We just can't eat that much anymore. Our preferred schedule is to eat breakfast around 8AM and then eat a lunch/dinner at around 3 or 4 PM...then, that's it. No more after that. That schedule is hard to keep on a ship b/c there is generally no full dining open at 3-4PM. We just cannot eat a big meal late in the evening anymore. I would be up all night ! ....plus, we spend the whole night in the casino, usually.

It is on sale on my cruise planner at 50% off, debating to cancel my reservations for Chops and Hooked and purchase this package? Any thoughts. I'll be on Symphony in August if all goes well! Having 2 reservations you have probably paid around 50% of the cost of the dining package. For a bit more then you have it every night. Sometimes we don't even go every night, we take a break for one night depending on the ship and options. On Symphony there are so many options you can dine every night in a different restaurant or repeat your favourites

MrSnarkyPants Posted January 25, 2021 #21 Share Posted January 25, 2021 150 Central Park and Hooked were my favorite places onboard. We ate at those twice. Wonderland doesn't do anything for me, others will disagree with me, but I disliked Wonderland enough on the Anthem to not bother with it on the Symphony. Jamie's Italian is a favorite. I also liked the hibachi at Izumi.

Jamie's: Lamb chops, mushroom fettuccine, the tagliatelle Bolognese, and crab spaghetti are great. The Meat Plank is a great starter. At Hooked, the Messy Fish Sandwich makes for a good lunch. This is making me miss being on board. 🙂
MrSnarkyPants Posted January 25, 2021 #24 Share Posted January 25, 2021 Here's the thing about Wonderland: the waiter will insist on ordering for you and not really telling you what you're in for so it doesn't spoil the surprise. That's great if you like what they order for you. I hated half of the menu. The couple next to us had been there before and knew the drill, so they picked out the good stuff... so while I sat through courses of stuff that made my stomach turn and watched them eat stuff I might have liked. Eff that. Order what you want.
