Cumbersome process. Actually for us our our friends, we added each other in a minute or so each. It was actually easier than with engaging the TA and then we know it is done as well. (I just wish we could setup the dining because it was all setup before in Personalizer as cross-referenced Early TD at a 4-top and I have no idea if a default was transported over to MC app until it gets functional again for us).

We don't enjoy eating alone, but don't want to be blocked from the DR because we did not fill in the app. To me it does not register as "Dine My Way." Seems our way no longer exists. Another issue. In the past it was the T.A. that linked bookings. Now it seems that all passengers travelling in a group, friends with different booking numbers, have to each link their bookings to the others. Cumbersome process. It does seem cumbersome. The booking reference number has only been something transient to get you on the ship but I guess it will be visible on your app to share with any newly made friends you want to dine with? TinaLee Posted June 8, 2021 #428 Share Posted June 8, 2021 Okay, so this is the big new thing everyone at Princess is excited about, but I don't see what I'm missing that makes this a big deal?? We are not strictly brand loyal - we cruise pretty much everyone, although we have the highest loyalty benefits with Princess. One thing I absolute despise about cruising Royal is having to make all my plans before I leave home! Dining, specialty dining, shows, etc. What if there is a beautiful sunset and I want an extra hour by the pool? I lose my dining slot. Or I'm hot at the casino and would rather do the late show than the early one I chose?? I like my cruise to be relaxed - which is why we always pick Anytime dining and tell them we're happy to share a table. We meet lots of folks. Out of many cruises, we have actually only once decided we wanted to change from Anytime to having a specific waitress (she was amazing) at a set time every night, and they happily accommodated that. So could someone explain to me why Dining My Way is such a big deal?
pris993 Posted June 8, 2021 #429 Share Posted June 8, 2021 I think what may make it unique is you can order from where ever you are on the ship and they will bring your order to you. 1

jean s Posted June 8, 2021 #432 Share Posted June 8, 2021 I really like being able to choose where to dine at the last minute so this whole reservation situation is making me a bit irritated. So if we don't make reservations and show up at the dining room at 8:30 do they send us away?
dreaminofcruisin Posted June 8, 2021 #433 Share Posted June 8, 2021 I had been unsuccessful (Android) logging into MC unless I used the booking number. Once logged in, I was able to enter dining, but did not see my other cruise by clicking on the picture in the upper left corner. I figured out that I had to log out and log into the other one again using that one's booking number. Same thing again though...then could only see the cruise tied to the booking number. I logged out and again tried to log in with my MC login id. I have a password book, so I know that password was different than the password at princess.com. Since it didn't work, I tried using "Forgot my Password". It came back and confirmed my email address, though it was all lower case. Then I tried to change the password and couldn't get it to work. I then tried the password I use at princess.com. That worked! I KNOW I have never used that password on MC. I am glad if they are linking them together, but it would be nice if all the functionality was linked together also. I also see both cruises now. I really don't need to book dining for August of 2022 yet, but tried it out to see if it worked and I was successful with doing that also. Oddly enough...it seems I have everything working that I need at this point. Good luck to everyone else. I do have a question too. If I add another couple to my August 2022 cruise using their booking number and book them for a dining time, has anyone checked that the added people see the dining time you booked them for? Just wondering if anyone has tested this functionality yet....since we all seem to be the testers....🙄 Funny...thought I had retired from I.T...... Perhaps all of us who feel the same can just ignore the app, and turn up at the MDR as we did in the past.

We don't cruise to eat. There are other things that we would rather be out and about doing and honestly, sometimes I literally get sick when I overeat. But we enjoy the dishes the main dining room has as opposed to the buffet. The nights that they have the Norman Love desserts are the only time that we order dessert; but again, we are usually stuck waiting until the other tables around us are ready for dessert, which leads to a LOT of sitting around and waiting. 2 hours ago, Steelers36 said: I have never felt we had to wait around for the 8-tops and 6-tops before we got next courses. Like Steelers36, we get very quick service when we ask our waitstaff for it and tell them the time we would like to be finished. We have on at least one occasion been out in less than an hour, faster than we wanted to be.

In the past, arranged dining with another couple required both bookings to cross-reference each and both parties acknowledge that they wanted to dine with the other party. IMO, that should be the case going forward. We have added our friends as travel companions in MC app. They did same for us. When the $&*^^#!((&^%!%$$ thing is working again for me, I hope we can make a res for 4 of us each night.

The only big deal that I can see (but perhaps not to a lot of people, you for example and DW and I for that matter), is the ability to schedule where and when you want to dine ahead of time - even prior to embarkation. Unfortunately, it's only through the MC app (like everything Princess steering customers toward). I watched last Thursday's TA webinar and they talked about this a bit near the end and it sounded like if you wanted your flexibility to change plans last minute and didn't want to use Dine My Way, you would still use ATD. Now watch, as DMW rolls out, they will prove me wrong. 😕 ETA: Oops, I see Steelers36 beat me to posting a slide. wowzz Posted June 8, 2021 #444 Share Posted June 8, 2021 What happens if you make a reservation for dinner at, say, 20:00, but get "delayed" by an extra beer or two in the bar? Does the reservation automatically get cancelled, and you just walk up to the MDR as you did in the past?

muffin Posted June 8, 2021 #446 Share Posted June 8, 2021 I’m seeing it as a choice. You can book early if you want to, thus saving your spot at, say, 7:15 most nights, or you can turn up when you feel like food, and sit as a couple, or choose to meet new folks. No pressure to do it from home now that I see, just an option. I see it curtailing some of the lineups. I am wondering about the meals, or drinks coming to me wherever....can I order from the dining room menu to be brought to my table at the wake view bar area? Or have an Alfredo pizza mid afternoon to my lounge chair near the pool? Mmmm.
wowzz Posted June 8, 2021 #447 Share Posted June 8, 2021 OK, so my wife and I can just turn up at the MDR, anytime, and ask for a table of 6. What happens if there aren't 4 other diners who want to join us? We will be forced to eat on a two top, because everyone else decided 18 months previously that they wanted to eat at precisely 19:15. I thought cruising was all about going with the flow and meeting people. Princess seem to want to destroy that concept.
muffin Posted June 8, 2021 #448 Share Posted June 8, 2021 Wows...... when this happens now, they put you at a TA le for 6 and ask the next several couples if they want to share...just like before. They may or may not, but it is unlikely you will sit at a table for 6 alone. They will not deny you a larger table judy because the next two couples don’t want to share today.,

But they cannot very well make an email username case sensitive. Some applications many just convert any email address to all upper-case or lower-case. I'd like to know of a website in North America where an email userid is case-sensitive. Edited June 8, 2021 by Steelers36
