Any Upgrade Bids Accepted Recently?

From a financial viewpoint, it doesn't factor at all.  Your current cabin has a specific value at the time the bids are processed.  You have offered a specific amount of money.  How much you originally paid for your cabin has no bearing on how much additional income NCL can make if they give you an upgrade.

That don't make sense.

If I paid $2000 for an inside and points up to a balcony that would have costed $4000.  Thay can resell my balcony and make an extra $2000 off my cabin than someone else who paid the $4000.

Um no. You paid what you paid.  Someone else paid what they paid. That's money they already have in their pocket.

The only money they make on a bid is what you pay in addition to what you have already paid. If they resell the cabin, they make whatever money they resell it for - what you paid has no relevance to what they could get for reselling the cabin at a later date.

The original price paid is not a factor, remember lots of CAS Casino at Sea travelers that have free cabins bid and are successful with the upgrade program.  The upgrade advantage program looks at what you currently bid and what they will get for additional revenue for your original cabin.  Good luck to all and happy cruising!

For us, Haven Suites just aren't what NCL Suites used to be.... the best suite we ever booked on NCL was the Deluxe Owners Suite on the Dawn...that cabin was the bomb!!  Floor to ceiling windows, right over the bridge...bigger than alot of NYC apartments... back when they used to give you 3 BOTTLES OF BOOZE of your choice!! The list of amenities was long.  This was long before the 'Haven' and the 'Cabana' rooms...

When I told my dad we upgraded to the Haven (two-bedroom suite) rather than wait out our bid, since the price dropped below our bid, he asked if they still provided three bottles of booze in the cabin. He and my mom used to cruise all the time on NCL in various deluxe owner's suites before she passed three years ago. He said that because my mom wasn't big on hard liquor, he would get three bottles of scotch.

Anyway, I told him that I thought the DOS still had that but not the two bedroom, but maybe that's gone by the wayside nowadays, even in the DOS. Sorry to hear that's no longer a perk.

Not true, my starting bid when I was in a balcony for an owners suite was $1500PP, now that I am in a courtyards haven suite minimum bid is now $600PP

Our starting bid from club balcony to DOS was $1600. I upgraded yesterday morning to the two-bedroom Haven suite (the price came down below our bid), but the upgrade site has not updated to show our new cabin assignment. In other words, it still says we're upgrading from club balcony.

I withdrew all our bids anyway because the only better cabin available right now is the DOS, which doesn't suit us as well as the two-bedroom does (the DOS would be amazing if it were just me and my husband), and obviously I don't want to be "upgraded" for a crap-ton of money to the same level suite to which I've already spent said crap-ton of money on upgrading.

Therefore I won't be resubmitting any bids if the upgrade site updates, but I'm wondering if it will ever update to change the bid ranges based on our new cabin.

I'm pretty sure they have done away with the 3 bottles perk in the suites.. 😞  Now they just offer you free drinks everywhere.  Also, (back in the day), when they first came out with the beverage package, if you had a suite, the gratuities were included!!  Enjoy the 2 bdrm suite... it's very nice (except for that teenie tiny balcony)

That was our favorite too! My heart has always been with the Dawn :)

We were booked on the Dawn for the week after the cruise shutdown.  About a month beforehand I had called and paid to upgrade to the DOS for $1000 total from a balcony.  At the time, the room offered the amenities you listed.  It will always be a misty-eyed moment of "we were so close".

Thanks! My husband likes spending time on the balcony, but he's happy with the tradeoff to have our own separate bedroom. There's still enough room for both of us to sit, so it'll probably only get squishy when we're pulling into port and watching from there.

I know this is all mostly voodoo in the end and I usually skip bidding for exactly that reason, but I was curious what y'all more experienced bidders might make of the situation for our upcoming 14-day Panama Canal on the Joy. We're currently booked in an aft-facing balcony and the min bid to get into the Haven (regular Haven Suite) is $300pp. The cost to actually book the Haven is still ~$6k per person. I did a mock booking to check availability and I counted 55 Haven rooms still open which is apparently about half of the available Haven inventory on the Joy.

We're still over 100 days out, but am I right in thinking that having that much inventory in the Haven is pretty abnormal?

What might be up with the disparity between the bid amounts and the cost to book? I've read a lot in this thread about folks just upgrading because the price dropped below or near their bids so I expected the difference to be minor but even the max bid is far less than the cost of upgrading. Might the low bid minimums indicate a forthcoming price drop?

I know this means NCL is winning the game with me right now, but as it stands there isn't a chance we can afford the upgrade (it's twice the price of our current cabin) so I'm keeping hope alive with speculation. 😅

On a Panama Canal cruise, I would definitely keep that aft balcony, the view is unbeatable.  Going through the locks takes a while and it was so nice to relax on our aft balcony while watching the water levels go up and down.  I did a time lapse video coming back (really neat). Enjoy your aft balcony.

I also think that NCL is pricing themselves out on Havens. I don't think the average Joe can ( or wants to) dish out $7000 (and more) to sail in the Haven...and once you've done it, you realize that was alot of money for that experience.  Yes, it nice...but I would rather go on more cruises than to blow my all my vacation money on one cruise.

We have an aft on our upcoming 14 night partial canal sailing. I booked the aft for the canal (we have done before in the aft and not to be missed) . Only 15 Haven cabins available on Breakaway and minimum bid is over $1000 pp and NCL site still at $6500 a person. I bid high fair but wont be broken hearted if i don't win.

Help me out here.  Why can't I just get a free drink at the bar (or two) and bring it back to my room?

You can… but having a bar or bottle (or three) in your cabin is pretty suite … my favorite is having a couple of cocktails while getting ready for dinner…or sitting in one of those club chairs while enjoying the floor to ceiling view in the DOS… now, we head out early for cocktails before dinner…

You can, whenever you want.  The booze is just a perk for getting the big suites.  "Oh, you spent enough to buy a car for this suite?  Well, we're going to give you not one, not two, but THREE 750ml bottles of mid-tier liquor.  Enjoy!"  😜

Yeah, but the booze is "free."  🤣

Just like the booze in Vegas as you place bet after bet after bet.
1st person:  "I got free drinks all night!"
2nd person:  "Yeah, but you lost $1750."
1st person:  "Dude, did you not hear me?  FREE DRINKS!!!"
🤪🙂

Has anyone known of a maximum bid for an upgrade NOT being accepted? On our upcoming cruise max upgrade bid is still much less than going rate.

If there is no inventory no matter what you bid will not be accepted
