heidikay Posted February 18, 2022 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2022 (edited) It should not happen. I'm traveling next month with 6 other family members. All eight of us are in YC. We could have saved a bunch of money if could have booked one YC cabin and the rest of us just visit our 2 relatives that booked YC. If you are travelling with someone that does not want to book a YC cabin, you can join them anywhere else on the ship outside of YC. YC is for those that have booked YC cabins. Two Wheels Only Posted February 18, 2022 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2022 Before bringing non-Yacht Club friends/family into the Yacht Club, think about the embarrassment when non-Yacht Club friends/family are escorted out of the Yacht Club...😳 3
Rare morpheusofthesea Posted February 18, 2022 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2022 Your title intrigued me so the elitist in me has to sound off. We switched from RCCL suite class to MSC YC because on several occasions when we went to dinner we had to wait for a table due non-suite Pinnacles having access to the Coastal Kitchen. The problem also exists on Celebrity when grandpa and grandma suite guests are able to pay a breakfast, lunch, or dinner charge $15, $20 , and $30 for their 9 other non-suite family members in the Luminae.
Paphillyguy Posted February 18, 2022 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2022 I agree that this should not be allowed. People pay extra to be in the Yacht Club and if other people's guest are getting to use these services for free it is not fair to the paying guests. I would never think of bring a non Yacht club guest into the Yacht other then to go to my room.
microbuck Posted February 18, 2022 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2022 If allowed this tactic would water down the benefits of yacht club.

Rare Hlitner Posted February 18, 2022 #9 Share Posted February 18, 2022 Before COVID we were on a Divina cruise in the YC, when we happened to witness one YC Guest smuggle in 2 folks (we later learned they were the brother and sister in law of one of the YC folks). They got away with it for about 10 minutes until one of the bar waiters asked the "visitors" if they were booked in the YC. They were quietly escorted out of the lounge. Those same folks then did try to get permission to bring in their relatives and even offered to pay for some kind of "day pass" but were told, No. We know this first hand from having drinks and conversation with the YC couple. They were unhappy with with MSC but such is life. Hank

Seadweller001 Posted February 19, 2022 #13 Share Posted February 19, 2022 Was on the Divina during the past Dec holiday period in the YC, 16th Floor at the back by the exit/entrance door. On several occasions after 10 pm Pizza was ordered by the cabin next to me and non YC guests were scurried into the room from the door. Not sure if the Butler had a clue of the ongoings or not but personally I could not care less and am not a snitch. MSC has cameras and although not always monitored, they can be. Bringing someone to the Top Sail lounge would be invasive and they would we asked to leave but pizza in the YC cabin seems innocuous to me. Agreed, its better than buffet pizza and gratis for YC Guests but who cares. From the sounds we heard walking the hallway, they all sounded very happy. I've witnessed butlers picking it up from buffet then doing elevator override to deliver. ETA, on Divinia, it could possibly come from the aft bar with oven, but pizza same as buffet other than you can customize. ddlb Posted February 19, 2022 #16 Share Posted February 19, 2022 I will send the impression you could bring anyone into your yacht club cabin just not into the yacht club area or for the experience. Am I wrong?
Seadweller001 Posted February 19, 2022 #17 Share Posted February 19, 2022 The pizza ordered from the butler is 100% not the same as in the buffet. This was our last pizza ordered from the Butler. Supreme with double toppings.

fish_guru Posted February 19, 2022 #19 Share Posted February 19, 2022 My wife is a school administrator and my daughter is a student. Unfortunately, for now, I can only cruise when the ships are usually full (crowded)...ex. spring break and summer. We splurge for YC because we want the tranquility you cannot find anywhere else on the ship. If you want someone to visit your cabin, I'm fine with that, provided you're not disturbing other guests but definitely not to use the facilities.

On the Seaside class, that is where the pizza oven. Your pizza is made to order, but it does come from that cook station.
Southern latitudes Posted February 20, 2022 #21 Share Posted February 20, 2022 I saw a man bring a woman into the Top Sail lounge once. YC was relatively empty that sailing and I could, without really wanting to, overhear him telling her all about the benefits of YC. It was not really an issue. There were only 4 or so groups in the lounge that evening. I imagine that the staff might have said something if it was really crowded. I also know the man was sailing solo in a double cabin, so he was paying for 2 anyway
no1talks Posted February 20, 2022 #22 Share Posted February 20, 2022 In a "smart ship" YC, it would be a simple business for management to be alerted upon the presence of a non-YC passenger's bracelet, by way of tracking technology. But, if this aspect of coding had to come from MSC IT, the simple business would become a Herculean feat.
Raintree Posted February 20, 2022 #23 Share Posted February 20, 2022 Should not happen. If you want the Yacht Club experience, pay for it. Celebrity does it with The Retreat for Zeniths and it is not fair. Retreat guests end up waiting for tables and seats.

Am I wrong? I imagine if the YC passenger is discrete and only has a guest(s)in their cabin without disturbing other guests or taking advantage of YC amenities there is little problem. On a sailing there were a few singles in an inside YC cabin on the Meraviglia and I am sure if they met someone interesting outside the YC, there would be zero problems with bringing them to their YC Cabin. I am sure this is a regular occurrence. I am sure it would make a great impression on the non YC Guest. Of course, there would be no galavanting around the YC public areas. No one on any ship looks at 600 plus cameras 24/7. They are played back on an as needed basis only.
ddlb Posted February 20, 2022 #25 Share Posted February 20, 2022 Just “galavanting” in the cabin itself 😂
