Some years back, the Guys from "Myth Busters" confirmed that ginger pills worked. Both Adam and Grant got in one of the NASA centrifuge spin chairs and of all the remedies that they tried, only ginger pills kept them from getting nauseous.

Grandma's remedy of Ginger Ale (the real stuff) when you had an upset tummy works.

Yes, I have heard ginger pills work great too!

Yes, ginger ale is something I have always done for an upset tummy.

😱 not sure this makes me feel good About cruising 🤣

You will be just fine.    It is not hurricane season and we had extremely calm seas on our last 2 sailings to Bahamas.      The forecast I just read for Bahamas looks just fine.    Have fun!

We were on Navigator once in the remnants of a tropical depression.  I don't recall the winds, but the seas were very rough.  I walked out on our 10th deck balcony and the spray from the seas was soaking me.  People were stumbling around everywhere, holding onto the railings with one hand and a barf bag with the other.  During the night, the ship would slam and list so much that I had to hold onto the bed to keep from being dumped on the floor.  It was a wild ride.

We were once on DCL and while docked at Castaway Cay, the winds built and by the time we left, it seemed like the crew was having some minor issues getting the ship off the dock.  I'd estimate winds were around 50mph.

Yes it’s going to be breezy all week starting later today. I live in south Florida. Bahamas gets canceled a lot due to wind. It’s a very narrow area to go through and with wind it is always canceled. You are missing nothing with Nassau anyways. It’s rare Coca get canceled. I have only seen it happen a couple times there. With the east wind it should be fine there.

Yes we weren’t getting off ship in nassau anyway so I’m fine if we miss that port, the boat might just be a bit more crowded that day than I’ve been anticipating! But we’re really going for coco cay since we did this cruise in December and my 4 year old just LOVED IT. If that port gets cancelled I know he’ll be sad and asking for “pirate island”

30 is nothing! no worries. we had 88 mph winds in march and the ship went on its side and stayed there for a while . it was actually pretty cool to walk 'up' in my cabin. they call it listing.

kids would have fun if that happened

When I was in  the Navy if you couldn't walk on the walls it wasn't rough out yet. LOL!

Listing was fun. Made it easier to fish from the cabin balcony.  🙂

We were at CocoCay in March for 3 hours before they let us off due to 50+ mph winds. The ship was bobbing pretty good but otherwise the weather was fine. The winds died down to 30+ and then they let us off. There is far too much money invested in additional sales to completely miss the port. It’s got to be very bad to outright cancel.

I’ll be joining you this weekend! It will be fine!

30 mph winds are nothing for a ship.

That's what the Captain of the Norwegian Escape said last month,,, until the wind forced her aground in the Dominican Republic stranding a couple of thousand passengers and taking the ship out of service for a month while they patched a hole in the hull.

OK. 30 mph winds are nothing for a ship out at sea. Feel better?

My Dad tells of stories on smaller carriers in the 50s of having green water over the flight deck.  And their destroyer escorts totally disappearing under the water at times.

The key is AT SEA.

Not close to the shore.

OP, You might be noticing that any question about possible winds/waves will bring out lots of horror stories.  It doesn't mean any of those extremes will happen to you.  It's like a woman telling her friends she's pregnant.  Every friend will recount her own stories (real or otherwise) about the agony of giving birth, how many hours (or days) she was in labor, how much her back hurt for nine months.  It's just a chance for people to one-up each other, and talk about what they've been through.  Extremes are still the exception, not the rule.
