If you're doing more than one service, that 10/20/30% off sale actually makes it close.  But for one thing, yes, book ahead.

We're doing two - couple's massage on boarding day, and then again on day 6.  It was still much cheaper to book in advance.

Help me understand cooler vs fridge I have had in other RCL ships.

The one pictured below is a cooler. But nothing stays cool. Beverages from last night are room temperature. So either it's broken or that's just the way these work PXL_20220920_073122305.thumb.jpg.d597910fcbf8c4b77400755458002b90.jpg

I would think that to be a fridge, not a cooler.  And as nothing is cold, it's a broken fridge.  Time for a call to GS to start your day!

If you zoom in, you'll that the label states, "Keep it cool But not cold - this appliance is a cooler, not a refrigerator".

Checked in and waiting in holding area.

We can't board due to coast guard having to inspect ship,  should be boarding in about 15 min. We hope!

Protip#1111 RCL transport service front of line service  if your flight is early I recommend using it

Check in was easy.,  3 places they checked Covid test, setsail pass and passport. So  keep everything out. Entry level than upstairs area and waiting area in photos below.

This is a congested dock especially with 3 ships in port.

Were there separate entrances for key/suite/pinnacle, or did everyone cram into the same entry and then get split off in the building?   Were they checking arrival times?

Shows how much attention I pay.  I don't know that I've ever used one, but always assumed it to be a fridge.  Anyone care to tell me where you'd get a bag of ice on board to cool that thing down then? 😄

No. At the early time we arrived , everyone was corraled together.

They did let Pinnacle, suite and than key members on first.

Better prepare for a B2B to Canada/ New England, pretty good bet after this storm rolls through Bermuda they won't want cruise passengers traveling on the island while they are recovering.

At current track, its forecast to pass about 100 miles west of Bermuda.  Hopefully, that's far enough that they don't get the full force or the hurricane on the island, but its close.  Last time a Cat 3 hit (Humberto), they were more or less open for business a day or 2 later.  They took a direct hit there where the eye passed over the north end of the island. From what i read, Humberto as a Cat 3 direct hit did 25 million in damage over the island.  In comparison, Ike, a Category 2 direct hit to Galveston, caused 39 BILLION.  Despite the difference in size, Bermuda is just better prepared for hurricanes so that puts me a little at ease.

I'm also told that Bermudans are more blasé' about hurricanes than Floridians.

We did a B2B cruise on the Explorer in March. The cabin attendant always had our Cruise Compass in our cabin when he did the evening turn down on both legs. Same as always.

Had a great excursion this AM. Saw the lighthouses in area via boat excursion. Did not realize the military history of this area much more impressive than the light houses.. 😂.

Has lunch at The Porthole (EECC recommend) Maine lobster was delicious, chowda amazing, Maine craft beer on point. PXL_20220919_174718052.thumb.jpg.4507f334f382bf3384ec804112187291.jpgimgly_5564011768211220003.thumb.jpg.c20ac1f99334e1904ebac19e2d702139.jpgimgly_380642157671040766.thumb.jpg.9c8bd14774686670839977156fc93ccd.jpg

So I looked for whale watching excursions in Portland somehow nothing cam up. My Google Fi was weak. Turns out odyssey offers a whale tour at 10am on shore days. Found this company walking around town.PXL_20220919_162223888.thumb.jpg.d4df04450853640ecf4133bb806e6ac3.jpg

If you are adventurous and want to get your hands dirty how about a love working lobster boat.

Do they still have the $34.95 twin lobster special? How was it? We were debating between here or Gilberts Chowder House.

How do you get to the helipad?  I'll be sailing on Adventure next week!

So my time dining, needs reservations. Kind of defeats the purpose of My Time dining.

Waiting in the NO reservations line, watching everyone else with reservations go in.

So I guess make reservations. Is the answer.

I have made our reservations for Adventure;  I talked to someone the other night who just came off Adventure, and she told me it was a cluster**** for MTD even for those with reservations....

The chowder house line was super long...Porthole was about. 30 min wai, if you could find the hostess to give your name.

That Lobster must be super small for that price

Whatever the legal size for Maine lobsters is.. that's what you are getting. They literally have a legal size limit.

Our Operator told us actual legal size limit was,  but of course I don't pay attention. So sorry! You can Google it.
