Please forgive my "rant", but I don't know how else to explain what is happening.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Don't worry about your 'rant'. We all need a sounding board for our frustrations -- and you've had more than your fair share of late.

Add my 🙏prayers🙏 to those already sent for you, your DH, and his medical team. May answers and solutions soon be known. And, may you find some quiet moments of respite for yourself.

Tested myself today at noon, negative. Others who could have been exposed at the same time have also tested negative.

Yesterday's Misfits order included chard again, so I'll probably cook it this evening. No idea what I'll have with it. As usual, pears weren't ripe, so fruit for now is mandarins or watermelon. Maybe tomorrow I can buy apples, which are an important crop in New York.

I'm still thinking about a winter vacation--I didn't have one in 2021 or 2022, for the obvious reason, and missed it a lot. I was in the Caribbean on the Nieuw Amsterdam in January 2020, before the shutdown. It seems likely, however, that there will be a covid upsurge during the winter, likely peaking right after Christmas and New Year's, which puts me off travel then. One area I do want to visit is Canyonlands and Arches National Parks, but not at that time of year; the end of April would be better.

Melissa, thank you.  I appreciate the comments knowing that you are also going through your trials.  This place as been a life saver during the past two years, and just knowing the support that's available here is a big help.  We're still waiting to see where the doctor wants DH to go, and now DH wants to wait until tomorrow.  I don't think that is an option.

I'm very happy you and the others tested negative today.  I hope that continues to be the case.

Arches and Canyonlands are marvelous places to visit.  Unless you are a camper, they can both be reached from Moab, which is mainly a base for visiting the parks.  Moab is at just over 4000 elevation and part of the parks are even high IIRC.  Spring and fall are probably the best times as it can be warmer, but not hot.  It can also be crowded then too.

Thanks. The park websites mention crowds, apparently starting as soon in the spring as the weather isn't freezing.

@aliaschiefIs the service you used available in London and would it work to help us get to our flight to Rome? We have just over an hour and after what we went through there last October, I'm not sure we can make it. What should I search for using Google? Thanks so much!

DW believes she found the service under airport services or concierge services. Not sure if every airport has such services. They definitely have for handicap.

I agree not sure what food that is either.  I do like to learn about new things which is why this thread is so fun.

So, I got off Oasis on Sunday and was less than impressed with how ship is being managed.  Never got my bill in paper or email format.  oh well.

So, looks like Anthem is heading back to NJ which is where my last two cruises were.

I leave on Sun to Ft Lauderdale where I will board Celebrity Equinox to the southern and eastern Caribbean to see St Lucia, Barbados and Antiqua.   Last X ship I did was out of Southampton to the Canaries on Silhouette.

I have been following the Rotterdam which is coming to USA on its 150-anniversary cruise.   Don from You tube is on.  Can't wait to get on the ship in Amsterdam next year to Norway for 14 days.

After sailing on so many RCI ships, I am eager to return to HAL a bit more.

toodles

Sounds like you are having an awesome time with lots of cruises.

We had a week on Anthem from Southampton September 4-11.

Graham.

@aliaschief A request: I know you are not traveling alone, but would you please report on anything you observe about solo travel with Scenic? My late mother often traveled solo very happily with Tauck but I'd be interested in any observations you have about Scenic. Your thoughtful reports on HAL, about Azamara, and your other trips plus your unique travel planning are testimony to your detail and discerning eye.

-Melisa

(Note: DH's travels are now very limited in scope and duration, so solo travel is on my horizon...)

@BrandelynConWelcome to the Daily group!

@grapau27Thank you for the food porn!

Thanks everyone for the PV pics.

I am late again today, we ran errands and had a nice long lunch and a drive through the countryside to leaf peep.   @richwmnThank you for the Fleet and Daily Reports.  I love rain forests and look forward to seeing the biggest in Brazil   We have toured them in Costa Rica and also hiking in the Tongass National Park in AK.   Over time I have come to love my body and I evaluate my life from time to time.  The Indian pastries look tasty and I remember similar from buffets at Indian restaurants.   I think the Laphroaig cocktail would be good minus the bitters.   I love the Allegrini Amarone and I know we had one on a BHB because we carried it on.

@rafinmdRoy, thanks for keeping the care and celebrations list for us!  @Quartzsite Cruisertoday my DB is going through something similar.  He had his knee replaced and had continued bad pain for a month.  He was sent to a sports doc for a consult and his tendons weren't reconnected.  He went back in a week ago but yesterday he noticed bleeding under his bandage.  Today a lot of bleeding.  My sis called and I said take him to the ER.  I am waiting for what is happening.  Lenda I hope things get better for you and DH.   Prayers for all on our care list and for the people of Ukraine.

Thanks for all the wonderful sunny photos of Puerta Vallarta.   I was there once on the Oosterdam in 2017 prior to a Panama Canal transit.    We got off and made a beeline for Wal-Mart so I could get enough Diet Pepsi to last our cruise. (in the days they allowed it).  Have a wonderful afternoon!

Since tomorrow is garbage/recycling day, I've been breaking down some boxes I had stored. I save every box, which is convenient if I'm reselling some small appliance on ebay, but is ridiculous for large items. So out they go, with another garbage can full of styrofoam, which can't be recycled.

Fortunately my eye seems to have settled down rather quickly.

@aliaschief Wow, what a fancy hotel!

@BrandelynCon Welcome to the Fleet Report/Daily!

@Quartzsite Cruiser I'm sorry to hear how complicated things have gotten since DH's surgery. It sounds like being an inpatient is best, given his mobility issues. And inpatient rehab after the second surgery. Feel free to vent here! Thanks for the Puerto Vallarta photos.

@grapau27 Nice meal, and nice environment 😉!

@summer slope That art in the form of hearts is so nice.

@kochleffel I'm glad to hear your test has remained negative. I went to Arches and Canyonlands in September of 2015 when BFF and I did the first of 2 National Park road trips. I loved Arches!

@ottahand7 Prayers for your DB that his knee issues get taken care of. That scares me as I'm told I need a knee replacement.

Hello everyone! I am new to the Daily and Fleet Report as I am new to the Holland American pages. I have my first Holland America cruise booked for May 27th 2023 Boston to Montreal. I have cruised many times but this will be my first in the NE. My sister was a performer on Holland America back in 2003-2005. She was on the Osterdam and the Zyderdam.

My parents are flying out Saturday for a 15-night river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest. Ahh, the retired life is looking good on them. Hoping for safe travels.

We had our first freeze of the season here in Oklahoma last night. Days will still be in the 80's though for a few more weeks. Hope everyone has a great day. Prayers to all of those facing some struggles right now and always happy to see life celebrations both big and small.
Welcome to the Daily!! We’re glad to have you join us.  The itinerary you’ve chosen is one of our favorites.

I am sorry to hear of your DH’s troubles.  I know you had hopes for a quick and easy recovery.  I hope they can get him on track.

My knee doctor gave me a steroid injection in my knee several weeks ago and he said he would give me more if needed.

My late mam had both knees done with one knee having 2 replacement operations.

I hope you can avoid a knee replacement unless absolutely necessary.

Take care.

Graham.

Thanks Graham. In the past steroid injections worked very well. I hadn't had one since 2019. I had one in late July as I was having pain, but it no longer seems to work. It only helped a couple of days, then the pain was back. I am seeing the Orthopedic doctor on Friday, and want to get the hyaluronan gel injection. I want to avoid knee replacement if I can.

Probably the best ship tour I have ever done on HAL was in Puerto Vallarta.8D9F9C8B-C996-4F6B-B4DE-42F338198439.thumb.png.6d840cf83095df0bc564dc571eea9125.png

On the way to a protected reserve we saw many birds.

I look forward to returning.
