Ok, we just booked our cruise on Wonder Of The Seas. it has been 4 long years since he have sailed. Lets have some fun with this. What is the first thing you do when you board the ship and other things after that? We go to the Windjammer and then head to the MDR to check on our table assignment. Next we explore the ship and when it gets close head to the pool deck to watch sail away with our favorite drink.

We are not very outgoing so what we do is probably silly. We like to go to the Solarium and sit in a lounge chair with a drink. Just breathe until its time to go to our cabin. Then we sit on the balcony at sail away time and order strawberries and champagne. My favorite memory when we cruise.

First we stop by our Muster Station to take care of that necessity, then we do these same things.  We also like to go to the top of the ship and circle our way down-down-down, seeing everything.

I forgot we get the muster out of the way immediately now we have the app.  Our tradition is a glass of scotch for Hubs and a Mojito for me, so mostly head for the pool bar or the Centrum area on a smaller ship, sit and sip and watch the hoopla, then head for our room.  Then we venture out to find some food, doesn't matter much where.

We also hit muster station as we board… so much improved process!!! We grab a quick bite at the buffet. Then we also tour the ship looking for hangout spots … preferred venues… how to get from spot to spot … depending on the ship we’re either settled in the solarium or hanging out up too for sail away.

Go to cabin to drop off carry on and then to Windjammer for lunch.  Do the safety briefing and go to muster station, then explore ship.  Go to pool/solarium.

How do you get into your cabin before they let you into cabins, usually around 1-1:30 PM? The corridor doors are closed to the cabin hallway. Or do you buy the Key and drop off your suitcases in the MDR?

You don't go to your cabin until you are invited to do so.

I would never waste money on Key access. Our suitcases go to the porters on the curb so that we don't have to drag them around the ship and inconvenience other passengers having to maneuver around our bags.

Our first priority is to get our entertainment booked. Aqua shows early in the cruise in case they are cancelled (due to weather) and rescheduled later in the cruise. Comedy Shows (sell out fast), Ice Shows, and Main Theater shows.

Changing dinner reservations are next. If we are in a JS, then getting CK dinner reservations is top priority.

Windjammer lunch

Taking care of our muster.

Exploring the ship until our room is ready.

Here's our Wonder cruise last year (a lot has changed since this cruise)

1.  Get a drink

2.  Connect to wifi

3.  Schedule activities, shows, any specialty dining in the app

4.  Get another drink

5.  Muster

6.  Get another drink

7.  Hit a hot tub, either the solarium or the cantilever ones just outside the solarium

8.  Get more drinks

9.  Once the cabins are ready, and I'm ready to get out of the hot tub, go find my luggage, get into the room, shower, change, get ready for dinner

I go in when the cabins are open.  I don't arrive real early.  I may have to wait a little bit, but I'll look around and then go in the cabin.

We usually head to the nearest bar for a celebratory drink!

We typically get our muster out of the way first. Once that is done, we go to the MDR to see where our table is so we aren't walking around like fools trying to find it when we go to dinner that night. After that, we usually go find lunch somewhere (usually the WJ) and then grab a drink and walk around to check out the ship. Usually by that time the cabins are open and we go check out our room and drop off our carry on bags. Then we walk around and explore some more, and celebrate sail away from our balcony where we don't have to fight the crowds for a place to stand to watch the ship depart.

We always go to Boleros as soon as we board for what usually turns into several drinks. At the same time, depending on the ship, we also make show reservations, speciality restaurants reservations and visit our muster station(s).

One thing we never do is go to any sail away party. Usually someone in our group will notice or feel the ship moving (depending where we are at the time) and mention it to everyone else.

We:

1. Report to Muster Station

2. Eat in buffet if already open

3. Had to Solarium pool/jacuzzies with a drink to wait till cabins are open.

4. When rooms are open we either organize our clothes if we have our luggage

5. Head to Solarium for swim and sailaway. Especially on Anthem.

If we got the Key, drop carryon at MDR (or where ever they collect them)

Head to MDR to verify/change table. We prefer 2 Top by the window.

Have lunch either MDR or Windjammer

Check in at our Muster Station

Hang out close to our room so we can get in as soon as they let us and take a nap before Sail Away

Hit the Schooner Bar for a drink and a boarding day photo.

Head to MDR to verify table location.

Drop by muster station to get our "ticket punched".

Off to Windjammer for a bite to eat.

Pool deck for more drinks and to relax until the cabins open.

On larger ships, connect to WIFI and make show reservations as needed.

Go to Costal Kitchen, setup dinner RSVP's, have lunch and cocktail.  Then go to cabin, suit up, and head to the suite sun deck.  BTW: we just did Wonder for Thanksgiving week and you will love her and the staff.  Don't miss dinner at 150CP.  We had Thanksgiving dinner there and it was so good we booked for two night later.  I'm drawing a blank on our waiter's name it was something similar to Rochelle.

If I can’t make entertainment pre-boarding reservations that is the first thing I do when boarding.  Next is to make specialty dining reserves and finally go to the MDR and look for the dining table location.

After this, I cruise around the ship (somewhere in between I have lunch) waiting for my cabin availability 🤣

We go to muster station then usually head to either Solarium Bistro or WJ for lunch.  It has been the Bistro lately.  If it is a ship we have been on before, we grab a drink and take a stroll through the casino to see if there are any new fun games.  Then we go to the solarium and chill until the cabins are ready.

If the ship is new to us we do a little tour to get us situated.

  1. If you need to book specialty dining, that is first priority.  Get it done.
  2. Sometimes we split up and I hit duty free to check selection of whiskies available.  Only one has this worked, but its worth a try.
  3. If MDR seating is important, hit MDR to find out your table.
  4. For us, next priority is pool deck.  We get our spot scoped out and set up our "nest" for the day and get drinks ordered.
  5. Some food, WJ, Park Cafe or dogs....
  6. AAAAHHHHHHH.......

Our last cruise was on NCL and we watched a video before hand and just had to check in at the muster station, is Royal doing the same thing now?  Standing on deck with life jackets on was the worst.

We always head to the buffet for lunch and then from there it varies depending when the rooms are available.  My wife likes to get thing organized as quickly as possible.

Our last cruise we did not need reservations for anything except for the comedians. Do you really need reservations for all shows?  Of course there will be 11 of us so might need to.
