Slot pull question

Recommended Posts

For the first time, I am organizing slot pulls, on my upcoming B2B.  I thought it was completely normal, that my card would be used for the duration.  Some random guy (not in the pull), is creating a major stink on FB, that I am basically scamming people, by having my card in there.  My question is- is it normal to use the organizers card?  I mean, I’ve put a bunch of time into organizing, and this is the only perk I get (other than the fun of participating).

We have stopped participating in slot pulls because of this issue.  It has become a point grab for some people and is no longer fun.  One rollcall had a slot pull all organized and someone joined a few weeks prior to the cruise and completely pushed the original organizer out of the way.  She ran a terrible slot pull and ended up taking the money to a roulette wheel and losing it all.  Another rollcall, someone joined week prior and posted on three consecutive rollcalls saying they would start slot pulls even though slot pulls were already organized.

It was fun while it lasted but not worth it anymore to us.  Good luck with yours. 🙂

My husband & I have organized and helped out with a few slot pulls over the years, but we have stepped away from them for the reason you mentioned above. People were concerned that we were getting something (the few points acquired) that they were not. You definitely don't get a lot of points and it takes a lot to organize a slot pull, so for us, it just wasn't worth having people complain when we only did them for fun and to meet other people onboard. Good luck 🙂

Don't let others "rain on your parade", especially a non-participant!  Once I initially thought I'd have an issue with it, but quickly realized the work involved and the rules were known in advance. It's not like the organizer earned 1000 points. And if one did, so what.

Have participated in about ten slot pulls on my recent cruises and all organizers used their cards, we knew it ahead of time, we had fun and earned some $$. On one we all walked away with $67 more than we invested!

Life is too precious to be worried about trivial matters. Go for it and enjoy your slot pull!

Idk as I hardly gamble but I'd read it can be a pretty big perk. Half way or even a free casino cruise.

It is controversial to some. I've read both sides. No right answer. Lol I have one roll call with 3 slot pulls a year almost away. Run it and it's up to everyone if they want to join. I'll never have enough pts for a casino offer so makes no difference to me.

I may not remember all the details fully but someone posted a good explanation a few months ago after he hosted a slot pull and told how "few" points he actually earned.

It was something like:

The slot pull was $20 pp, there were 40 players with four $5 spins each... He earned one point for every $5 spent and no points earned on free spins.. At the end, I think he  earned less than 200 points.

Can't find his post but his explanation put it all in perspective for those thinking an organizer wins a free cruise!

As long as the rules are clearly laid out prior everyone has their choice of participating or not if they don't like those rules.  As the organizer I would say do as you like and if someone doesn't agree they can set up their own.  BTW I have no issues with the organizer using their card, small payback for organizing.

I think that as long as the rules are presented in advance it should not be a problem.  People can make a decision to attend or not as they wish.  That being said I was on a cruise where the same person organized 3 of them in one cruise and was for "high rollers" with a $100.00 buy in.  Now that seemed a little scammy to me.

We don't join them anymore.  And many years ago (like 20) I did run some.
It is a lot of work.  But it's also fun.

Most people are going to have a great time!  Cheer them on and have fun!  I hope you guys win and if I'm in the casino when you all are doing your slot pull,  I'll cheer you on too.

Same thing happened our last cruise. We took our winnings and went to the roulette wheel and bet it all on red and WON. They did it again without a proper vote and lost it all. Never again....

We have done numerous slot pulls on another line and have had no issue with the organizer using their card . It is a very minimal point accumulation for the work put into it . I have never seen anyone complain about this and if they did , I would tell them they are free to not participate .

We have participated in numerous ones, and the organizer always keeps their card in, understanding that they get the points but also get the tax ramifications in the event of a handpay.  And frankly, unless you are doing the high roller version, no one is really getting that many points anyway.  As long as a the rules are laid out beforehand, people can join or not....their choice.
