Great news! The one thing we have missed these last four weeks on Silver Moon is a restaurant like Umi Uma where you can order something lighter. The Asian Fusion restaurant here is good, but the meals are heavier.

Now if Crystal only could find some non-Genting way of operating a casino.

When I was a kid, I used to have a small roulette wheel that we played with.  Bring one of them, a few decks of cards, and some change, and VOILA - your own casino!   😃  😋

Another reminder that many things from Old Crystal continue. Not all but many.

We loved Nobu from the first time we experienced it on Serenity in 2005 and then when it was added to Symphony.  Although they had Umi Uma on Endeavor it was not Nobu and we knew that right away.

From their Chardonnay to the food and to the service it is an amazing dining venue.

Maybe Crystal can fiend a way to teach bridge and allow gambling at the tables at UMI UMA - and if you do all that your price for extra meals at specialty restaurants will be reduced to $30.

This is the only restaurant that I loved on  my Serenity cruise.

Good to see it back

Is this mostly the same as the chain restaurant, or completely different?

Is there a chain restaurant called Umi Uma? I thought Umi Uma was just on the Original Crystal ships and now in the New Crystal…

Nobu is a restaurant in several places. But I would not call it a chain restaurant either.

Did they ever have a restaurant called Nobu on Crystal ships? Did this restaurant have the same menu than the Nobu restaurants on land? I have only experienced Umi Uma on Crystal and Nobu on land (Barcelona) and both had very different menus.

Ivi, it was first called Silk Road and then Umi Uma.   Mostly different menus but we found a few similarities.  Chardonnay was the same in the USA.

I didn't know. That's why I asked.

There are certainly many expensive restaurants with many locations. Maybe they are not chains in the sense that I could own one, but still they are omnipresent.

I just wanted to know why all the fuss if I can eat at one not on a ship.

Trying to figure out what is special about Cristal that I should book it sight unseen.

The sushi and sashimi is similar to the Nobu restaurants and the menu has the same vibe, but isn't identical. You wouldn't book a Crystal cruise just because it has the Nobu restaurant named Umi Uma, but the restaurant is one thing (among many that hopefully return) that make people return to Crystal. You get one included dining experience at Umi Uma with all cabin categories Sapphire and lower. After that, if space is available, you can dine there again for $50. Dining at a Nobu on land would start at about $150/person and the sky's the limit from there.
